I'm not in the job search right now but I'd suggest checking online government sites. A lot of my friends found jobs using internet sites that can point you in the direction of local work (eg. Factory shit). Also, spend a day and just swamp every store with a resume, someone will get in touch with you. Oh, and to beat the University students I'd suggest doing it this month.
I know you don't want to hear it but at 17 without a high school degree you are going to have trouble getting well paid jobs :(
Good luck though!   Let us know what happens

Get a job at a nice full service restaurant as a bus boy or host. When you turn 18 start serving. Easy cash, and always hook-ups at a restaurant... Work your way into the bar. Dude I know pulled in a legit $35k a year working 3 nights a week bar tending. My GF made that on paper last year serving FT.

funny you sound like me at that age... now this aint a lecture.. think of it more as a quick glimpse into the future , cuz i was EXACTLY like you, and now i hate any job i have done (i've had more factory jobs than you've had warm shits), i would much prefer to get paid doin somethin i love, and eventually you will feel like this too, you just gotta remember man, things change, and so do you and your outlook on things, and you know somethin, now i am kicking myself in the head for not payin enough attention at school, cuz if i did, i could do anything i wanted, including something that would make me happy... all i'm sayin is don't be so quick to throw away your childhood... you ARE still just a child... and you've still got about 70-80 years ahead of you yet, make sure you give yourself the right start.

Plastic Jesus is right. You can make crazy money working in restaurants, be it tending bar or waiting on people. Apparently in some places you'll make double what you make per hour in tips alone.

@ Wesley Pipes, i see what your sayin
but i don't believe i need school to do somethin i like
i can be satisfied with very little at a job
as long as i like what i'm doin i don't need school for that
and as long as i'm paid enough to live in a place, eat food and smoke
then i'm pretty much set... i can enjoy life :)
and again thanks for all the feedback and comments and whatnot...

i do understand where your comin from, but you must also understand that people and their circumstances change, this DOES include you however much you think it might not, what happens down the line when the money you make just isnt good enough to support a family? it's no use to think that "i don't want a family" or that you will go through life by yourself, because as i said, things change.... atleast do yourself a favour by finishing school before you look for a job, do u really have all that long to go to finish school compared with how long the rest of your life is?
Life is sooooo not as easy as you seem to believe it is.

I stopped school at 15, went back this year and left after less than a month
cuz they had me washing teachers cars and shit in the 16+ program
sooo i say fuck school i know i could work part time and do school
but that's not enough for me... i'll just work...

I also left high school my JR year(3rd year) because I wasn't learning much, wasn't interested, and it was just a plain kick in the ass to get up at 6 every morning.Schools here are such bullshit I'll tell ya. All you gotta do is take your G.E.D when you're 18. And if you wanna go to a 4 year college all you have to do is go to Community College first (the 2 year one). I'm not advertising for all of you to dropout, but I'm a decently smart kid. :)
peace

but your gonna leave school and move out? and have to pay for Rent, electric/gas, heating / hot water, food, tax? (not sure what thats like where your from), internet (assuming you wish to take your computer with you and have internet access?), lets not forget you weed either, oh yeah theres transport too, whether you get your own car or motor bike, or have to use public transport everyday that too will put a dent in your wallet.
You absolutely sure you've thought this through 100%?

you need school.
or you need to quit smoking and get a construction job, if you arent gonna go to school.
or prepare to flip burgers til your 75, with no chance of retirement.
trust the ones with experience, youre too young to give up on school.

Listen to the guys like Wesley who're giving you good advice. You can undercut the rest of your life and settle for a subsistence life and a minimum wage job. But when you get grown up and past the I'm-too-cool-for-school age and want to have a family or pay the bills, you're going to need some sort of training. We live in a society that demands that nowadays. Not saying it has to be classroom school. Not everyone's meant for that. But some sort of training in a trade will make a lot of difference in your being able to support yourself, not have to be a bottom feeder always looking up at the rest of the folks who're living a higher quality of life, and your ability to buy decent weed.

at last someone with some common sense, thank you birdgirl, much hugs and kisses :D
to platinum plus: at the end of the day, your still a kid, and the fact that you actually believe your "too cool for school" only confirms your childish attitude, my advice would be to grow up before you do anything else, cuz you won't last in the real world with that attitude man.

Nahh it's not childish attitude
it's just a nicer way of sayin fuck school
i would probably try for my G.E.D. (good enough diploma)
but i never really passed grade 7...(grade 7 is highschool in quebec)
so if i need my other grades to take a g.e.d i won't do it
but if i can take the test without having to acquire these other grades
i'd do it for sure, cuz i'm kind of impatient and i don't wanna sit around
for days, weeks, months, years for some fuckin piece of paper lol
so yea i'll look into it abit more, but i still say i'm too cool for school haha
thanks or all the advice ya'll are better than my actual friends LoL
