about to end my first veg

Well, the guys and girls (don't know their sex yet) are now 30 days old and I'm going to start flowering them in 3 or 4 days. Most of them are now starting their sixth or seventh node and 8-13 inches tall. I originally potted them in 3 quart pots filled with 60% miracle gro and 40% perlite, but have been in 6 gallon pots with scotts potting soil with added phosphorus (back says 0.01% i think). I didn't want to mess with them too much since this is my first grow, so I only LST'd two of the yesterday and both seem to be looking good! Might do a few more tomorrow. Also, I noticed a little bulge at the base of a node, does that look like the beginnings of a preflower?

I haven't given any nutes besides 1 tsp/5 gallons epsom salt during the last watering (heard miracle gro doesn't have any magnesium in it). When should I start with bloom nutes? I'll be watering them right before I switch to 12/12, should I add them half strenth then and then full strength there on our or wait til the watering after to start adding bloom nutes. Was thinking about adding some Raw Sugar (Turbinado sugar) to the water during flowering. Anyone have any experience or knowledge about adding sugar to the water?

I've noticed the tips of some of the plants are starting to turn yellow/white. I was thinking it might be nitrogen deficiency since I haven't given them any nutes yet. Also, one plant has one of it's leaves developing brown spots. I've attached some pictures below, including the a picture of the brown spot leaf.

Getting excited to see some flowers on these guys! Let me know what you guys think and if you have any suggestions.

I do hydro, but i'd take some cuttings from those little ones. That way you can use clones for your next batch and not have to worry about the sex...

Thanks for the reply Tom :thumbsup: Do you think they can wait until I water them on Friday or should I water them ASAP to get them some nutes? Also, I'm starting flowering on Friday. Should I give them a half dose of veg nutes or flowering nutes with a little more N than normal for flowering?

Id give them a dose of veg nuets asap and then a half and half mix of veg and bloom nutes 2 days before u put them into flower then bloom nutes all the way till 2 weeks befor havest! then cut back on all the neuts and flush with water for the last 2 weeks! :)

Tom, you've been a huge help. Thank you so much. I just have one more question.

Today is two days before flowering and the soil is still a little damp so i think it's a little too early to water them. Should I just water them a little early this time and make it a light watering and add in 1/2 veg 1/2 bloom nutes?

Last night they got find a 50/50 mix of veg and flowering nutes and they're already looking much better today. Next watering will be plain water with some h2o2 and after that will be full strength flowering nutes every other watering. Will be changing the lights to 12/12 in an hour or two.

When I was looking at them this morning I noticed a few are starting to have some new growth at the nodes of some of the secondary growth. Any of these pictures look like they're starting to show some preflowers?

Lastly, I noticed on of the branches at the first node of one of the plants broke off, not exactly sure how. Should I leave it hanging like that or just pull it off?

edit: I'm going to be going away today until next Sunday. A friend will be coming by a few times to water and raise the light if necessary. Should I be worried about any males maturing during the first week of flowering and releasing pollen or should I be okay if I check as soon as I get back?

Yeap there the start of pre flowers! :) If im not mistaken thats a leaf branch, just remove of cleanly! Im pretty sure any male wont have matured by next Sunday! :)

There looking really nice! The canopy hight is roughly the same to! keep it up man! wanna see loads of pics! :D

If the worst comes to the worst just ask ur mate to take some photos and get them on here. we/i can tell him what to do! :D

Plants just finished their second week of 12/12 today. So far I've identified 4 females (2 bubblicious, 1 cali orange, and 1 ice). I want to identify the males as soon as possible so I can get them out of there and have more room for the females, but I'm having trouble identifying them. I've attached 4 pictures from 3 different plants that I suspect to be male and am hoping someone on here smarter and more experienced than myself could give their two cents.

Very, very nice.
nr. 2 and nr. 5 look like males, a little fuzzy though, it could be new shoots.
