Afraid of commitment?

.I want to get over it but being in a relationship would make you more vulnerable to being hurt and maybe thats what I'm afraid of.

Is anyone else petrified of commitment? I find myself running everytime a relationship or anything starts to serious

Quite simply, high risk = high reward. You want the best relationship of your life my friend? Open yourself completely! The hurdle that is known as Fear of Commitment exists in every guy's mind (and who knows maybe every girl's mind too). When the time comes that the relationship begins to become very serious, look at your girl and decide to yourself whether or not you are a better man with or without her. If in the back of your head you know this girl is what you need, then take a deep breath and jump over the hurdle. If you wouldn't call this girl overly-special compared to any other girl you've dated, maybe it's for the best that you don't expose yourself in a way that would hurt you when the time came to part ways.

my philosophy is that if you're afraid of it you're probably not ready for it. i know i'm not and honestly i really don't want it. that's why i go for guys that are more "fun" because i don't wanna be tied down right now

I think you just need to take a chance, and go for it- following the criteria the first poster mentioned.

i didn't like the jackets with really long arms, but i did enjoy the soft room.

i was in a 2 year relationship and was very commited.

she cheated and i left. then i moved on.

now im in a better relationship and am ten million times more commited.

youd think id be scared of it but hell no, what doesnt kill you makes you stronger.

anyways, i have no good advice. youll know when youre ready i guess.
