why was mrs greenjeans banned?
i of course (and i'm sure you're all well aware) that i know i don't deserve an explination.... but she never seemed to be the one to get banned for something...
so i'm curious what she did to get there... if you don't mind sharing it'd be greatly appreciated (just curious)

It was a little matter that erupted in politics the other morning, Slip, that's all now been cleaned up and deleted. Not sure I want to go into more detail than that because it was fairly traumatic for everyone involved. Let's just say that passions flared and that we hope and trust everyone involved will be back.

Obviously I can see why you're all curious, but at the same time, it's really none of your business.
When Mrs. G gets back and feels like sharing, that's fine, but these types of questions are not really needed. The threads/posts were deleted for a reason..
Doncha know all the good gossip is at the ole' watering hole anyways?

i disagree.... that coming from someone who quite often referred to this site as a "community" is a little hipocritical to say the least, and the fact that most of us refer to this place as a community, or as some would say "a second home", makes it our business... wouldn't you agree? ;)
Often i have wondered why certain people have been banned, with some it's quite obvious, but with others it comes as a complete surprise, to say that it's "none of our business" is like saying we're not allowed to know, or that information is being with-held from us... there is such a thing called the freedom of imformation act ya know

Sure it's a community, in a sense, but I think you took it to a literal sense; in which case, it's not. It's a second home for some, yeah, but even so, don't your buddies have that ONE door in the house you can never open?? :D
And me saying it's none of your business DID sound a bit ... well, I sound like a dick, lol. But still, it doesn't really make sense to post threads simply gossiping about this and that, when no one really knows the facts, ya know? It sort of "pollutes" the boards, if you will. That also goes for the yammerfests that get deleted. No one should have to read through crap.
As far as information being withheld from you ... it's on a need-to-know basis.
And I'm pretty sure you gave up any sort of rights when you agreed to the forum rules after joining. Hehe, read CLOSELY...

This is why there is such a hostility towards Mods. The fact is if someone got banned it is in the best interest of the community to inform them of why.
It is a good reminder of the rules.
If everything is out in the open there is no need to gossip.
But this attitude of "we own you" is totally counterproductive.
Just my opinion. I know that counts for nothing, but this is feedback.

member gossip, oh you mean like the two or three threads i've seen in the lounge about the yeag and stinkyattics romance... yes i agree, very cannabis related... relax man all i'm saying is that in any discussion board where one has been there awhile and gets to know alot of the members (even if just by screenname and attitude/style), there will innevitably be gossip about them, it comes part and parcel of the board.
This is a public board no? so therefore anything that happens or is said on this board should, by all rights, be public knowledge (or so i keep hearing, when mods are asked to delete info that someone didnt want outed, they are told that it's a public board and they should have had more sense in the first place), which means if we ask, you should have an obligation to tell us. (i am not talking about personal info of course, but if we ask about something that happened on the board, then we have the right to ask what took place).
Its whats known as Freedom of Speech... and the pursuit of knowledge (ok yes were just gossip addicts, but still).
man i dont even know what i'm saying anymore, did any of that make sense?, just thinking and typing at this point, thats what happens when u stay up all day and night lol

Basically you're talking about going into a police station and asking for a list of all the people in your town who has been arrested, including details of the arrest. That's invasion of privacy or something like that, right?
If the person who was banned wants you to know what happened, then I'm sure you'll find out.
wouldnt u like to know which sex offenders and peadophiles live in you area?

Arrest records are public information.
All I am saying is if you don't want threads asking about why someone was banned... Just tell us so we understand and perhaps learn something ourselves.
If you are open with us we wont think you are banning someone for personal reasons

Yeah, but I doubt people really care about a kid who gets a parking ticket or something. Yet they might make a huge deal out of it.
Anyway, I suggest something that shows bans. The date, the name, the reason.
dude thats exactly what i was getting at, well maybe not exactly like that, but i just dont see the harm in a mod answering someones question, that was my point.

I am glad this came full circle. I agree that the question was put out as appropriately as it could've been, I A P was a bit harsh at 1st, but consider that after weeding thru several if not hundreds of posts...You can get a little "testy". We like to come and have a little fun without controversy also; These threads just cause blood pressure to rise after the stress that Moderators feel when confronted with negative issues...Such as the one that led to Mrsgreenjeans getting banned. Peace

You are my new "bestest" friend, but I gotta say this to you.
Wesley, Billion?...There is no way we are going to start having more administrative duties from new policies of open forum discussion of bans. No way.
Let's drop this. If someone gets banned; It is from actions they took to cause ban. We have no animosity towards members; even when banned, but that is strictly between the Administration and the member banned.
I am getting tired of seeing the team get questioned, and after giving an answer...the topic continues to get beat on...C'mon enough!
Thanks Latewood

I think that if there was a public ban list or something, then it would also make people think twice about getting banned. That is, if they don't want their name and the reason they were banned to show up where everyone could see it.
Now does Santa put up a naughty and nice list for the public? Hell no! :noel:
Really though, who would be listed? Short term or just permanant? If I had a short term ban I wouldn't really want to return any time soon knowing I was on a wall of shame. And what about the piss fits about "Oh, I didn't do that".....just alot more crap for us to have to deal with; pulling up deleted threads, etc....to try to justify our actions against a complaint.
I consider it like what was stated earlier.......if the banned party wants to share, fine, till then we'll keep it a private matter out of respect to the member.
There was a little mishap.....W.M.D.s were exchanged.....the U.N. stepped in and now there is peace thoughout the land!

You know...when I first started browsing this site...and then thought of registering, I was disturbed by the increasing number of members that were banned. I could never really figure out why they had been banned. Some of them even seemed like cool people that were all of a sudden banned for no reason.
I almost didn't register, because I didn't even know what "banning" meant. I mean, what else comes with a ban? There were some obvious ones...flamers and little kids, so I kinda got the picture. So, I decided to register anyway, and hopefully not be banned, because that would interfere with the flow of my growlog. :D
I never read the rules to the forum. Even until now. Never. I just used my basic common sense, and it seems to have done alright for me so far.
I stay out of the Religion & Politics forums, and any other touchy subject. If I do EVER voice my opinion in those threads, I do so with utmost caution, and always proofread my posts so I don't sound like I'm coming off as attacking anyone. There is a way to express ANYTHING you would like to say without being an ignorant, flaming jerk about it.
The closest I even came to anything like a ban or reprimand was when one of my threads was deleted. I was so surprised. I had been very careful not to attack and to use mature terms to express my frustration with a certain member. I realized that the thread was only deleted because my opinions, however eloquently stated, stirred up stupidity and "flame wars" on the part of other members. Thus, MY thread was deleted. It's fine. It was trivial anyway. I got my point across and people read it.
Mainly what I guess I'm saying is that after being here for about 6 months, I've noticed that it is not as easy to get banned as I once thought. 99.9% of people who get banned are either uneducated, impulsive youngsters (or young-minded people) who do not understand the ramifications of attacking someone and/or spouting offensive comments on a PERMANENTLY RECORDED PUBLIC MESSAGE BOARD. The closest comparison I can conjure up is going to a public town meeting and starting a fistfight over lawn height. It's absurd, immature and ridiculous.
NOW, after typing this, I'm sure that Mrs. G might take offense, and I surely hope she does not, because I respect her and like her as a member. She's certainly funny and contributes a lot to the site. She is missed in the Cultivation section (it is SO dead in there right now)...and I was SURPRISED when she was banned. I think I was the first to notice.
BUT...she is also a person who says what she thinks and when you post that much in that short of a period of time, it's hard to filter everything and some borderline stuff might slip out. There is also something to be said about taunting and 'giving into taunts.'
There are MANY a day that I want to just lay into some people on this board, and I actually have, then I go and edit my post after I re-read it and realize how it might seem through another persons perspective. On top of that, I'm lucky I don't have as much time to post as some of you, cuz I'm sure I'd slip up some day. :o
I'm not going to speak for her, but I'm sure she would regret getting into a battle of words with someone on here like that, and maybe she just didn't have her filter on that day.We all make mistakes. I'm sure she's learned her lesson. I just wish everyone could.
...then we could all have peace. Awww isn't that just f**king sweet?
Welcome back Mrs. G. You're free today...why aren't you back posting?! ;)

I hate to harsh your mellow, Fog, but I don't really regret it. I knew when I hit "post" what the consequences would be, and I paid them happily. It was worth it to me. It's hard to put into words, and I don't want to start a shitstorm, but I'd be happy to talk to you about it offsite. Download my vcard and get my email addy.
This also applies to anyone else who would like to know what happened. Feel free to write me. I don't mind discussing it offsite.

there are two schools of thought concerning your banning. the first is that you were using this forum to sell mail order plutonium to third world dictators. the second has something to do with underage seedlings and some rather nasty unnatural acts. though we are sure that you are innocent of these charges, we have set up a press conference on march 18th on the white house lawn so that we can hear your side of the story. invitations have been sent out to all of the major media outlets; but so far the only ones that have answered have been norml, above the influence and a representative from marvel comics.

i have been watching this thread....before i close it, since it is solved with mrsgj saying anyone can contact her for banning info, i have to have my say...
first of all, as i have said so many times before, we do this on a volunteer basis, and have a lot to do, at that....so adding something ELSE like a public list, well, it is just one more thing to do around here..that one thing will turn into countless posts from people who agree, disagree, want to know more, it is never ending....so, as stated several times before, the decisions mods make is between the mods and members...not only these reasons, but lets be real...there are always 3 sides to a story, yours, mine, and the truth....leaves no room for anyone to question if the subject isnt put out there....this policy isnt going to change.....
