Whats up everyone.
I haven't posted in ages and decided to ask for some help. Jamstigator if you're reading this I'd love your help with this.
I intend to do an organic soil grow using flouros during veg, and hopfully 250W HPS for flowering. However I am unsure how I want to go about it. Stealth is a huge factor for me and I am thinking that having a cab in the closet will be the best since its in an apt.
I need some plans on how to build my own cab cheaper than what it will cost me to buy one. I got a lot of good advice from jams a while back and will be using the louvre vents he suggested for light proof venting, as well as the elf carbon filter.
Any help on how to wire my own light fixtures for the cab would be righteous as well, since I want to use a combo of CFLs and flouro tubes.
Respect.

Gnarly brah, how is the space between the two chambers? Thats almost exactly how I wanted my cab to be set up, the lower half being the flower chamber and the upper vegging.

Whats up good vibrations. Have you thought of dedicating the entire closet to the grow. How bigs the closet? Sounds like whatever you do heat, fresh air and smell are gonna be obstacles. Air cooled lamp? carbon filter? Let us know what you want.

I would love to dedicate the entire closet to the grow, but the lady isn't down with that. Need a place to store clothes and things. I am not 100% sure on the dimensions yet because Im still in the process of getting an apt. However Most walk in closets in apts are more or less the same size.
I plan to use a 3-4 foot wall space and coming 2 feet out, giving a total of 5-6 square feet. The box will be constructed out of 2x4s for the frame then lined with panda plastic. There will also be a divider in the middle to provide a veg and flower chamber.
I have yet to figure out the obstacles of the lights and hangin fans and the filter. I wont have to worry about an air cooled lamp mainly because I will be using CFLs for vegging. Im even considering on getting a T5 for flowering. I want to get an inline duct fan for the exhaust to the filter which will be the Elf filter from bghydro.com.
If I missed anything let me know. Once I get to typing new thoughts pop into my head and I forget what I wanted to say a split second before that.

hey dude cant read too far in the thread cuz im at work... But
TO be honest IF I were making the BOX again I would make the TOp half "FLOWERING Chamber" higher by a foot or a half foot.. I wish I just bought the taller cabinet its an extra 30 bucks would have been totally worth it...
So Far I have had to tie down the pplants Pretty hard when they stretch in flowering mode,, Or in most recent cases Cut the TOP right off, You can see that in the indoor gorwing section under
waht goes down in KDs aprtment
Ill be back to post later guy.,,., if you gotz more questions..
Lates!!!!

you definitly want the top or "Bigger" part of teh Cab for flowering. Plants double and somtimes tripple the size in flowering.

You can learn from me and know your lady aint gonna be down with A do it yourself Grow Box! I constructed my home made grow box out of plane wood and screws with white plastic etc. Fans all the deals..
And you know what it was a Box, A grow Box.. She aint down with that. The fans are fairly loud. It looks like shit cuz its made with raw materials. And your messing around with it 24/7. Checking thing and always repairing things. If your making a box that small you are gonna loose alot of space by using 2x4's
Save yourself some time and get a Pre made cabinet and modify it. 2 Reasons....
1. It looks 1 million times better, and for your Girl thats gonna be Key....
2. it saves alot of messy building, which in an aprtment isn't fun. Saw dust:(

that sounds like a good plan with you light selection. Try and mount the fans high so they are passing air past the actual light bulbs. I still believe that my plants still grow under such hard heat stressed times in my veg section because I have added extra fans to keep moving air around directly on the light bulbs.
Im excited to seew hat you decide to construct...

i have personally found that heat ventilation is the biggest problem with HPS closet grows, especially if you live in an apt and cant go making holes in walls.

Storing clothes in a closet with budding plants is not the best idea, they will absorb the (although wonderful) smells and the public may not appreciate the aromas as we do.... You are probably better off buying a cabinet, modifying it and not keeping it in a closet. It'll be way easier to access and to do maintenance on.
