why? i read that after i cut it at a 45 degree angle i need to cut it again under water. then i put it in its new dome home after of course i put the gel on the 45 degree cut. so what am i doing wrong. i dont want to kill off the good strains, i have and its time to go 12/12 there getting to big.

When you say they won't root, how long are you giving them before making that determination?

two or three weeks then the leaves turn yellow, and wilt.

Hmm.
DIP the cut stem in gel... make sure you pour it into a different container to avoid contamination.
You don't need to cut under water, but you DO need to use a CLEAN razor blade and get the cut into gel IMMEDIATELY

i read your cloning method from 2005 stinkattic i havent been letting cuttings soak for thirty seconds and i havent did what you said about cutting the leaves and that being the first place roots will start, and today i will go buy a heat pad or whatever there called, ive seen them at the shop.

yeah, it's important to get a cut node dipped and under the RW or Plug. I ripped open a few clones to see, and she is right, that is the first spot of growth.

when you say gel its cofusing because im using botanicare powerclone and its like water but i figure it should work. all ive really done is just put a few drops on cut site. but i will put magic clonig juice in a bowl and submerce the whole damn cutting. just joking only where i cut it at.:)

Maybe just a vial or something so you dont have to waste soo much and you can get the clone dipped in deep.

Yeah I use a 10mL vial.
The gel is great (clonex, mmm) because not only does it have the hormones, it also seals off the stem from possibility of embolism, and stays in gel form, keeping the right amount of moisture there.
2005!? yeek I'm still learning in 2007... I was a nOOb back then... hahaha

seems like a liquid wouldn't be as good with the sealing part. Maybe he's using clone juice, not the rooting clone gel, ya know like olivias clone food or whatever.

thanks. ill keep trying.

Ugh I used to use the Olivia's system... gel and juice... did not find it to be that effective.
My fert guru swears by dip-n-grow liquid... but I've seen his thumb... it's green... both of them, and I suspect he has green big toes too... Actually I'm not ragging on dipngrow, it's got the hormones and a fungicide, so it is GREAT if you have your technique down.

LoL, should we just call you barney or what? Just kidding. She doesn't grow anymore. Some ex B/F issues. But 18/6 is great for the Veg. Thats what most do. I do 24/0 for my clones tho. But i just saw someone saying that even for clones 18/6 is good. Check that other cloning thread i posted earlier.

hahaha don't worry I always get the last laugh... the ex was no exception... you should SEE the text message that dumbass just sent me, in violation of his RO... ooooooh I'm so sorry... waaaaa..... have me arrested I don't care booo hooo.....
I used to run 24/0 and have taught my prodigy to do the same... she's got a log going now... coco...
Either way is fine but I am partial to 24/0 for cloning because it minimizes the chances of temperature fluctuations.

What a fucking MESS that was.
Basically, if I ever want to grow again, I'm going to have to sell my house and leave town... it sucks... and just because he can't handle his emotions... he claims he never wanted to do me wrong but didn't know what else to do because he was ANGRY... well, really? I didn't notice.
Anyway it all ended up for the best... if I hadn't met him (stoner) I would have never started growing and smoking even... If I hadn't started growing I would hvae never met all you awesome people here... If I had never come to canncom, I would have never met the Yeag... we were talking about this last night... he said if he ever meets Jeff, he's just gonna thank him. lol. I guess I should look at it like that too... from all that shit came a chance to meet the most amazing man I have ever not met yet :D

How I take and root clones and get 95-99% success rates...
Take a branch from lower part of the mother plant...ones with leaves low enough to become roots are best.
Take the cut branch to your cutting board and cut off the leaves from the lower area (while leaving the top with all foilage) at as steep of an angle as possible then place into the bottle of Clonex sitting nearby.
Let it sit in the cloning solution while the grow pellet is prepared (I stick a nail into the hole nearly to the bottom to clear out the hole so the stem will glide in without bending).
I then remove the nail and immediately take the branch sitting in the Clonex bottle and put a glob of solution into the hole, 2 times. Then I gently set the branch into the cube as deep as it'll go making sure the leaves that were cut off are well covered with Clonex and will be buried inside the pellet.
I then place into a recepticle (either the tray the clone kit comes with or I've found Dixie Cups work well to hold the pellet and cutting in place while it roots. The roots will grow thru the paper cup in about 2 weeks letting you know when the time has come for potting.
Once I'm finished with the above I mist-spray heavily and cover with the plastic dome and under the flouro's, as close as the lights can get to the top of the dome. I spray every 6-8 hours, every day until cuttings have rooted and become clones...then I put them in 16oz cups with soil and they get their first hit of ferts then...a very light dose (1/3 of normal strength) along with a splash of SuperThrive. They must be kept warm and moist during this time but the 3-4 mist-sprays/day allows the air to get exchanged and also time for inspections...other than that they stay under the dome all day/night.
