with a big hole in your neck and you don't always die from tobacco:
YouTube - You don't always die from tobacco. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRHvZazd4IM)
They should make more ads like this. I think it would definitely keep younger people from getting addicted to cigarettes. This commercial, along with the whole "every time you smoke a cigarette you're taking 7-11 minutes off of your life" really made me look at it from a more broad perspective...I'd rather smoke weed and nothing like that be able to happen to me
Anyone feel kinda how I do about this bit? Nicotine being as addictive as it is, when I started I didn't even know what happened...I was just smoking every day..I'm sure it's like that for most young people...if I would've seen this fella singing on TV when I was 10, maybe I would've been like...whoa dude, I don't want to end up like that.

Who even cares. I'm sure pretty much everyone knows the risks of tabacco. I do, I don't care. Everything has risks.

I didn't. If I would've known that when I was ten, I would've never started smoking cigarettes. My parents smoked, so I thought it was okay, they apparently were alive and well so it didn't do anything bad to you...so no, not everyone knows the risks. I'm sure that if they had to take one of your lungs from emphysema, you sure wouldn't care huh?

I actually wouldn't, but hey I'm not too keen on life so I only speak for about 1% of the population. My grandma is missing almost all of her(lfet?) lung. So I very well know the risks. I practically lived with her and the house smelled sooo bad, and I wouldn't be surprised if my lungs were somehow damaged from being in that house. Anyways, kids nowadays know all about the risks, they just don't care.

exactly. I on the other hand am keen on life. I would rather smoke weed and it not be capable of killing me, giving me cancer, emphysema, or any other tobacco related illness.
"Those who smoke marijuana only have a slightly lesser risk of developing cancer than those who smoke nothing at all"
"Tobacco smokers face a 20-fold increased risk of developing cancer than non-smokers."
I didn't know any of this until recently.

They dont care because its addictive, addiction is hard. You just have to power through it with your mind. Ignore cravings and don't even let them manifest.
Stick to the sticky icy.

I'm talking about preventative measures. Putting what can happen to you right in your face and making you not want to start smoking. Yup, I read it on the box too.
I was addicted too..until about two weeks after my last cigarette. Put me and my body through shit. I quit just as easily as I started. So yes, I know what it's like to be addicted. But I also know what it's like to not want to die

How long did you smoke for? Must not have been very long.
I smoked about a pack a day or more for almost 1 year straight. Age 17-18 and a little bit while i was 16.
Now thats a fucking addiction.
It took me 3 times to actually quit for good. I got some practice the first two times and learned what I needed to do.
For me it was as easy as thinking about mind over matter. Your brain controls your body so treat your mind as the enemy and YOU must control it to do what YOU want.
You kept saying YOU want to quit, so wtf, either you don't really want to quit or you aren't who you think you are and you're letting drugs control you more than you control you.

This dealer I used to go to, his dad had to wear a breathing tube, walk around with a little oxygen tank, and talked with one of those buzzy voice boxes. I could never understand what he said! :p I was like, yeah, uh huh, okay. Just nodding my head like an idiot.
Anyways, I smoked for several years than quit when it went up to $6 a pack. I guess I came to the conclusion that they made me feel like total shit, cost me a fortune, and made me stink like ass. Plus they don't even do anything for you! I smoked years 14-22, then quit, and I'm 24 now. I was about a pack to a pack and half smoker towards the end.
My friends mom died of cancer and I went to her funeral, she was only 47. It sucked too man. 1 in 2 smokers die from tobacco use, that's 50% of people.
I don't want to be another statistic who died of smoking. I want my death to be legendary, like, jumping off the white house or something.

For whoever wants to know...I smoked from when I was around 10 to 17...which I quit January 1st of this year. About a pack a day...my mom smokes, so she didn't mind letting me have a pack of her cigarettes every morning..that's the bad part. At the time I quit, I couldn't even jog a block..now I can sprint well over 8 or nine blocks..and that's still with heavy marijuana smoking..Marijuana isn't a risk to my health, so I did any and everything to allow my willpower to secede my addiction to nicotine. I prevailed. I will never start smoking them again. I've changed my lifestyle and I will never again be a tobacco user.
