Hi,
I am about to germinate my 1st high quality seeds. I have heard that you
need to soak the seeds in water overnight. Is this correct? Also, why do
some seeds float on the water and some sink? I realize these may be dumb
questions but lets face it -- we all have to start somewhere. Any advice
would be well appriciated.
Thanks,

Well, you don't have to soak them. There are many different methods, but none easyier than the infamous "throw it in the soil 'n water" method. Do this and wait, or put it in a damp paper towl in a sealed ziplock on a warm place. OR soak it in water until either a tap root appears to be 1/4 inch long or the seed sinks. When it sink that means it is saturated with water.

yeah listen to llamaman666, one thing that I would like to add is that you should try to use distilled water, instead of regular tap water. Reason being depending on where you live, some places add alot of chlorine to water, which is fine for us, but can be harmful to your seeds.
