A former key White House official, Lewis Libby, has been found guilty of obstruction of justice and perjury.
Libby, ex-chief of staff to Vice-President Dick Cheney, faces a prison term of up to 25 years. He will be sentenced in June.
He was accused of lying to the FBI and a grand jury over revelations about CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity.
Correspondents say the case shed light on the inner workings of the George W Bush White House.
Libby was found guilty on four out of five counts. He was acquitted on one count of lying to the FBI.
LIBBY CHARGES AND VERDICT
Two counts of perjury - guilty on both
Two counts of making false statements - guilty on one
One count of obstruction of justice - guilty

Sentencing should be interesting along with the "possibility" of a Presidential pardon.
You heard it here first from your "right wing" mod. LMAO!!!

I bet he gets a pardon. But it will be another tarnished mark on Bush's legacy. Now I wonder if this will lead into further investigation into the Bush administrations handling of the war and its critics. Libby lied, who else lied, and for what? Maybe this will start up some sort of congressional investagation.

If he is smart, Bush won't pardon him and will try to put some distance between himself and the situation instead. Especially since the one who should really have been tried is Cheney. Offer up Libby as the sacrificial lamb.
Then again, when was the last time Bush did anything smart??

I'm not for a pardon at all but I bet it'll happen. It's the way things are run and HAVE been for quite some time. Look at the Nixon pardons, Fords, Clintons..the list goes on and on. It's a shame that this is abused so badly.
I predict that with the appeals process it takes this case to the end of Bush's term in which the pardon is granted. End of term, no personal repercussions.
Here's an example.....one of MANY:
In March 2000, Bill Clinton pardoned Edgar and Vonna Jo Gregory, owners of the carnival company United Shows International, for charges of bank fraud from a 1982 conviction (the couple were already out of jail, but the prior conviction prevented them from doing business transactions in certain states). First Lady Hillary Clinton's youngest brother, Tony Rodham, was an acquaintance of the Gregorys, and had lobbied Clinton on their behalf.[8] In October 2006, the group Judicial Watch filed a request with the U.S. Justice Department for an investigation, alleging that Rodham had received $107,000 from the Gregorys for the pardons, in the form of loans that were never repaid, as part of a quid pro quo scheme.[9]

So the jury knew it was more then just Libby. Maybe someone starts investigating the whole lot of them.
Juror: Libby is guilty, but he was fall guy (http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/03/06/libby.juror/index.html)

And again, you amaze me with your prose. I suppose your age is higher than your IQ (36). The thing really is, the whole Bush-Cheney crowd is guiltier than hell on so many counts of lies and fraudelent behavior that it would be tied up in court for years if anyone had the balls to accuse them., I've voted Democratic most of my life, but I am ashamed of this crowd of Democrats we have in office now. There isn't a real set of balls among them. They won't de-fund the war, they refuse to really challenge this criminal regime on so many counts it's pathetic. If one of them steps up (Murtha), the rest pee their panties and go stick their head in the sand. One thing about Republicans, If they smell blood, they are like pihrannas, they attack and don't relent. Please give them courage, let them quit squaking and take action, out with the lamb, in with the lion!

First off, I joined this board for advice on a p-test, but once I saw all the forums, I was intrigued. Bong, I am truly impressed that you are here fighting the good fight for us conservatives in a liberal landscape. That being said, the whole Libby thing is a bunch of crap. The only reason that there is a conviction is because it is a D.C. jury (very liberal) that wants to send a message to Bush and Cheney. I would think that a bunch of pot-heads would be insulted that a man was convicted for something that wasn't even what he was on trial for. Most people think that he was on trial for outing Valerie Plame, but he wasn't. He was on trial for what he said to officials after the fact. One of the jurors even admitted that he was salivating over the chance to have Bush or Cheney on the stand. Convicted to prove a point! Bill Clinton lied under oath and got a slap. He sold nuclear secrets to China for campaign contributions from Doral corporation, and none of you libs has a problem with that. Sandy Burglar STOLE top secret documents and you all are cool with that, but let any republican get in trouble, and YOU all are sharks in the water talking about Bush's impeachment and all sorts of other stuff. Get over it Democrats! Bush will be gone soon, and I gaurantee that you will hate the next republican president just as much. I was kicked out of the Marines under Clinton's watch for smoking a doobie, and I still don't harbour half of the resentment towards him that all you lefties have towards Bush/Cheney. You all are really ridiculous sometimes. With bumper stickers, avatars, or any thing else that you do, many of you think that the rest of the country cares how much you hate Bush. Well, a lot of us think that your just childish and petty.

Just re-read my post and it came off as more insulting than I wanted it to. You know how it gets sometimes, getting stuff off your chest. That being said, I have my own viewpoints, but I'm not into slinging insults at whole groups of people. I'm always up for intelligent debate. It helps to clarify one's own point of view. I hang with more libs than conservatives and just find incessant Bush-bashing annoying.

Yeah I guess we are, whew, I never thought I'd admit that. now let me say one thing about your dear scooter. He was convicted of lying to the grand Jury, much like Bill Clinton was convicted of lying and impeached. Now let me ask your great conservativness this: If you had gotten a blow job from a 20 year old chickie and your wife ask you, would you cop to it, hell no, and that was what Bill Clinton was doing, trying to preserve his marriage. He was impeached for lying about a blowjob. What about your great hero Bush lying to take us into a war where Many thousands have died, is that an impeachable offense? Don't come with that crap that he was only repeating the intelligence. Him and Cheney were forcing intelligence reports to fit the program, the program being War in Iraq! When will you right wing zealots admit that you were wrong, the war is a travesty and Many thousands have died needlessly!
