I was reading this book "Joint Rollers Handbook" and it said that there is soemthing called "Genuine Resin Oil" that is smeared across rolling paper or on bud and is very hard to come by. It also says that in the Netherlands that the relaxed drug policy dosent extend to this substance ( but why? assuming its just cannabis based). So what is it? :)

In technical terms, the word "resin" is an extract of THC in a smaller form. A lot of people confuse the term "resin" with the sticky, black, gooey substance that cannabis smoke leaves behind, they are wrong. That substance that the cannabis smoke leaves behind is tar.
Resin, is the trichcomes that come from the cannabis plant. :)
Now, this resin oil they are referring to is known, in our terms, as hash oil. It is made by using butane or isopropanol to extract the THC and make it into a more potent form. It is the second most potewnt way to smoke, and if made properly, it can have a 60-70% THC content in it.
High quality cannabis has about 18-22% THC content, hash at about 35-50%, and hash oil, at 60-70%. "Budder" (not the food) is said to be the most potent and can reach to 100% THC, totally pure.
So yeah, resin oil is a potent extract of cannabis, while tar, what most people call resin, is the sticky substance left by use by smoking cannabis. :rasta:

At last, somebody else that knows what resin is.
Honey oil extractor uses butane, but the old way was to use pure(as possible) alcohol to dissolve the THC, and then filter it through carbon to take out anything that wasn't resin.
