Reading a computer magazine at work, and straight away thought ive got to share this!!....

Computer shopper (uk) april 07
by zygote

"Zygotes feelings of paranoia continue as he musees over the strange life forms trying to reach him through his computer screen...

There are two interesting things about the thrips louse.
The first is that the plural of thrips is thrips, which must get very confusing for the wee beasties when they get together for a gossip.

The second interesting thing is that the thips louse has developed the ability to penetrate LCD computer screens. It normally feeds by puncturing the surface of a plant, and then sucking up the nutrients.

But recently, alarming numbers of thrips have taken to penetrating the polymer coatings of monitors and feasting on yummy liquis crystal.

Theres not a lot you can do if your monitor becomes host to a thrips louse, apart from stare at the little bugger for hour after hour in black silhouette.

I f you lucky it will get bored after a few days and crawl out the screen and dissapear. But if you unluckey, it will go and die slap bang in the middle of your display and nessesitate an expensive replacement.

Cleaning the surface is useless and any attempt to dig out the thrips is invariably disasterous.

But never fear, help is at hand.
It has been discovered that there are predatory mites that feed on thrips.
It should be simple for manufacturers to install them as a customer service.
apparently, you need just a few hundred mites to colonise a monitor, which may affect your viewing pleasure, but the predatory mites can be irradicated easily by introducing harlequin ladybirds into your system.

You should be carefull though, because harlequin lladybirds are agressive and have been known to attack humans.

Still, you can get rid of the ladybirds by feeding them to wasps, wasps are easey to deal with if they become a nuicance, either by smoking them out, or by running around waving your arms in the air and yelling.

Come to think of it, if you find yourself looking at thrips embedded into your flat panel screen, why not just cut short the whole process and go straight to the running, waving and yelling bit?
