Hey, Robert. Here's the deal (and I always say this to everyone!): I'm only a first year med student. I know next to nothing about thyroid/endocrine disorders. My standard medical advice is always--consistently and faithfully--to go see your own doctor.
I know you have an appointment in two weeks. What he/she will likely do once you've communicated your symptoms is order some bloodwork and check your thyroid hormone levels, your blood glucose and everything metabolic in between. Then he'll likely also ask you questions to screen for such things as depression, anxiety, fatigue/sleep deprivation, recovery from flu (which I know you've had), asthma/allergies, bad diet, vitamin deficiencies, and all sorts of other things.
From what little I know of thyroid disease from my friend Mary, who has low (hypo) thyroid problems, many of your symptoms would be at the other end of her spectrum and indicate overactive rather than sluggish thyroid, and you certainly do have several of them that are on the (high) hyperthyroidism list at the link below:
Thyroid Disease (http://www.clevelandclinic.org/health/health-info/docs/2000/2011.asp?index=8541)
Hope that makes you feel somewhat better to see that link! Seriously, though, only a real, in-person doctor can diagnose you. One who can take a blood sample. Make sure you keep that appointment, OK?

Like i said bg ;) im lookin forward to seeing my doc :p i just wanted to see ur thoughts.
its nice to hear info from a familiar face.
After reading about it does seem like a overactive thyroid but maybe im just clutching straws.. its just i feel so sad u know not depressed but sad that i feel this way, i have (once) mentioned the symptoms to my doctor but that was before he was arrested for links to terrorism (if u remember the thread) i look forward to seein my doc tho, cos something needs to change and fast.
As always thanks for your advice and kind words, if anyone who has a overatvie thyroid or knows of anyone who does and wants to shed more light on this before my long wait to see my doc! please do so.
Thank You ;)

I vaguely remember your mention of your doctor but can no longer remember the details. He was arrested for connections with a terrorist organization? My gosh!! (Doesn't mean he's a bad doctor, necessarily, and doesn't mean he is guilty, obviously. But that's still a bit uneasy-making.)
You said your appointment is in the middle of the month, right? How old are you, Robert? I'm just curious.
I just discovered while reading that list on the link I gave you that I have every indication of having a low thyroid, except for weight gain and hoarsenss. I'm going to have mine checked now, too!

lol :p
yea my doc was arrested in the USA by a undercover F.B.I agent for trying to get them removed of the banned terrorist group list (he was a member of the tamil tigers)
and im 20 Birdgirl and my appointment is the 13th or 14th i have it written down at home somewhere (im at work on the lovely nightshift as usual)
and about my doc i never did like him, i was allergic to penicillin and he knew this but he must have forgot because he prescribed me something containing penicilin not once but twice, i used to call him doctor paracetemol cos when i had a hernia on my shin (u may recall the photos) he told me to have paracetemol and wait a few months for it to go down!

Are you here in the United States, then, Robert, or in Central Africa as your flag says? Since you use the term "paracetamol," I'm guessing you're overseas from me.
Hmm, having a doctor who twice forgot something as simple as a penicillin allergy--that's one they normally note down real big in your chart--and then learning he is a Tamil Tiger would likely drive me to another doctor. Does he speak with a heavy Sri Lankan accent? He was wise not to prescribe aspirin for that shin bump. I won't fault him on that particular advice. That's normally how bumps like that are treated: Panadol, ice, rest/elevation of limb, and sometimes compression.

He reccomended compressiong but i went to a diff doctor and got surgery! even though my leg still plays up its better then it was.
And im in the UK birdgirl i like changing my flag all the time hehe keep u on ur toes!
He spoke with a heavy accent my mum used to be his patient but left as he was sometimes pretty rude and seemed to hate his job.
Currently his wife has took over his practice...

Wow! Was it a herniation originating from a muscle or a deep bone bruise that caused the bump on your shin? I must have missed this one on the boards.
I had a bad bump from my shin bone after a car wreck three years ago. I should never have been riding with my 17-year-old cousin driving. She tends to total cars and in that particular accident, she totalled the truck we were in and the rearview mirror popped off the windshield when we crashed and fell down hard onto the front of my leg. I had a huge bump for five months from my shin bone. Other than that, no one was hurt, but they had to use the hydraulic tools to get me out of the car on that side. Airbags and seatbelts saved our lives. I was told to rest the leg and take Panadol, which we call Tylenol over here.
Well, if you go to see Dr. Tamil's wife for your upcoming appointment, let's hope she'll be nicer to you than he was to your mum!

Wow im glad u survived! remember kids always wear ya seatbelt
tbh with u birdgirl the surgeon i had admitted to me they really didnt know about my leg, i had medical students taking photos and everything basically i struck my shin down a alleyway on a table which was on its side i hit the leg and a HUGE lump appeared from then onwards, it was on the muscle on my shin its hard to explain basically if i follow the bone on my shin i cant feel it when i get to the area i had my surgery.

Also a minor question u may or may not know. Where i had the surgery that part of my leg is still num to touch (surgery was nearly two years ago) PLUS the hair falls out every few weeks its weird lol

Good gosh, that WAS a big lump. That was a heck of an abscess, and I'll bet that was a medical mystery! Your body must have just responded uniquely to that bump against the table leg in the alley. I'll bet they were fairly keen on checking your blood count when they first saw that, weren't they, to make sure you didn't have leukemia or some type of bone marrow disease that would cause your body to bruise/abscess in that fashion?
My lump from the car wreck was only about half that big, and it went down pretty steadily as it was healing. Also, my legs aren't as hairy as yours!
OK, your most recent question, about the numbness/hair fallout? I can help with that. That's very common after even minor surgeries and/or injuries. The injury or the subsequent surgical incision through your skin would have cut some nerves and also interrupted the blood supply to that part of your leg skin. Places where people have had surgery or injuries are often numb afterwards, and sometimes much later some sensation comes back and sometimes it never does. (Not too big a deal here, luckily.) The same interruption to the blood supply to your skin and any scar tissue left there after the healing could account for impaired hair growth there, too. I have a couple of scars and former injuries that don't have the same nerve sensation and also don't grow hair in normal ways anymore. Not a big deal and certainly nothing to worry about!
I've had about all the medical fun I can have for tonight and am about to go sign off and either read a book or see if I can wrestle the remote control away from my husband and watch a movie. Hope you have a good remainder of your night shift, Robert!
