Brace yourselves, my dear c.com friends, because sex, fame, and immense wealth are things nowhere to be found sitting on your ass reading my grow log. If we're both lucky you might see some bud porn so stick around anyway. ;)
What I have are 2 batches of NL seedlings... well, the older ones are in veg now. They are 21 and 11 days old. I have 5 more seeds but I don't have space to get them going right now.
Ok a little background. I got 13 seeds from BC Bud Depot, germed 4 and 3 of them were good. Germed 4 more and 3 were good. The last one cracked after a week-ish and grew a little root but didn't make it. 75% success. :wtf:
Anyway they are great little guys, but they were pretty droopy and I have been watering them every couple days as they need it. I fed them about 1/2 strength Advanced Nutes because one of them (#3, most vigorous) had yellow spots forming on older leaves (Mg or Mn or something? I have no clue) and the most stout little one (#1) was yellowing on lower leaves (N-def methinks). I gave them some molasses for good measure.. maybe it wasn't enough but it lowers the pH a lot so I'm wary to put lots in like some people do.
Shit, this is getting too long and I don't want to bore you guys so here are a few pics...
pic #4 shows some of the yellow spots on #3 there. they're a bit worse now but since feeding it seems to be alright.

I recently ordered some seeds from nirvana's and got these as freebies. They're germing slowly but one is in the dirt, hopefully it'll sprout. One more will be planted tomorrow and hopefully by then some of the others that have cracked will show their tap root soon! Nothing to see yet, but later on...
Oh yeah, the 3-week Northerns looked droopy (I've been watering them) so I got them into some bigger containers... grow bags, and they basically suck. I ranted about it in my other grow log (see sig), long story short I won't buy them again. I'll use these ones though. They're no good if you want to train your girls or anything, but maybe good for a SOG. I digress.
I hope they'll perk up tomorrow. I think they look better already but we'll have to wait a bit longer to really find out. That's it today! I don't think this will be a daily thing, more like weekly. I'll try not to ramble too much but I make no promises. ;)

Sure thing shov!
I've got a dresser/cabinet thing I had in my room setup as a little veg cab. At first it was just for clones but it evolved. I had to remove a shelf that split the cab in 2 vertically and then put a fan in the back. There's a used 4" muffin fan in there I got for CAD$15.
Dimensions are about 36"W x 17"D x 21"H. There's someone sleeping in my room so I can't measure, but that's pretty close.
Lighting: 10x 27W daylight (5500k) CFLs give my 270W of bright, white light in there and they seem to just love it.
So it didn't cost me much and it works well enough for now... the limited height is it's biggest shortcoming.

Today all the plants were fed. The older plants got about 3/4 strength nutes since 2 of them look like they have N-def. The yellow spots on the #3 (largest plant) have stopped so that's good. They all perked right up after the feeding.
The younger ones got about 13% strength nutes (1/6 of a 4/5 solution) since one of them had those same yellow spots. Since they're getting chemical nutes and I don't have any tea or organic nutes in the soil I'm giving them molasses. I have hard water with a pH around 7.2, so I think I'll be fine with what I have.
They're being fed Advanced Nutrients 3 part, as well as:
* AN Barricade (silicate)
* BioBizz Bio-Grow (molasses derivative)
* Liquid Karma
* Thrive Alive
* Molasses
The molasses I might not use every feeding, and sometimes I'll use BioBizz Fish Mix in place of the Bio-Grow stuff. It smells awful but it works well, too bad my plants are in my room or I wouldn't care much about the odour.
That's it for today... everything's going great. :thumbsup:

25 days and the biggest plant there (#3) has a preflower! It's too small for me to see and I couldn't get a look with the microscope so I'll just be patient and wait till it's bigger. There's no way I could snap a pic of it yet maybe in a day or two though.
I can't say I'd be upset if every last one of these Northerns was a girl, but I do want some seeds so even if it's a boy that's ok with me.
The 2nd Durban Poison X Skunk #1 is poking out of the ground. I pulled the seed off of it (gently) because it wasn't having much luck getting out on its own. The first one that went in the dirt is just poking out the top and all I can see is seed, no green like the other one. There should be at least 1 DPxSkunk plant for sure! :)

Unless my eyes deceive me then #3 is a girl. I used a 8x magnifier and I'm 99% sure I saw tiny pistils.

Today the vegging plants are a month old. I am going to have a full flower cab for the next 2+ months so I don't know what to do with them that long. I may just keep 1 or 2 of them as mothers and try a SOG when I have the space, and forget about getting seeds from them for now.
#3, the biggest one who looks even bigger because she's in a bigger bag up higher, is indeed a she. :)
#1, the different one of the bunch, has got to be a girl, I am 99% certain about her now too. #2 doesn't have pre-flowers I can tell from yet but everything about it looks female, so I'm pretty sure it'll be a girl as well.
I don't know if I'm extremely lucky, or if this is because I wanted to get some seeds from these plants but I am getting all females it seems! If I want seeds I may have to grow those other 5 beans as soon as I have the room in there instead of trying out another strain (Mandala's Satori). Decisions, bah! I just want a real grow room. :D
#2 and 3 each have one little CFL burn... I'm trying to keep it that way but I leave them for a few hours and they're close to the light again there's really not a lot I can do unless I start tying them down. :jointsmile:
more on the little ones after this...

These little guys are over 2 weeks old now and just growing like mad. I gave them some nutes today according to the AN schedule on their site, which is probably for clones, but they seem to have taken it well. The older ones can handle them so I thought I would try it with these younger ones and see how it went. So far so good! :thumbsup:
Before the fan was hoisted up they were taking turns right in front of it. It's not very powerful but you might notice they warped some of the leaves a little bit. The last pic shows just one of them which has crazy leaves! I don't think it's from the wind since it didn't happen to the others. It's just awesome how it's doing that.
The 2 DPxSkunk seedlings are pretty sad looking and I'm not too hopeful for their future. Who knows though maybe they'll surprise me.

I have run into a bit of a height problem in the veg cab! :eek: I don't want to move them to the closet, but that looks like my best option right now since bcchronic's 250W HPS is still just sitting in there.
Anyway #3 is getting it the worst as you can see in these pics. She barely flinches at the burns... she's only droopy from thirst. She's perked right up today. I won't need clones for about 2 months. blah.
It's probably nicer to prune the poor girls relentlessly than to let them grow into the lights and burn so that's my other option. I don't think I want to prune them enough so they'll still fit though... argh! I don't want the light from the closet on all the time as well as the veg cab.

These little guys are almost a month old now. They've been re-potted into larger containers. I think I have one girl and 2 boys but no pre-flowers yet that I can see so I have to wait longer. I think the one on the right is female and the other 2 are males.
I chucked the DPxSkunk ones. They were sort of picking up the pace but I don't have space to waste on half-assed plants like they were. I wasn't expecting much out of them anyway.

Well the little one I thought was female definitely is. No sign on the other 2 male-ish yet.
I topped almost all of them yesterday. I have to clone them this week, but tomorrow I have a balcony+apartment inspection so it's going to have to wait a little longer.

Well friends, the inspection is over and went without a hitch (just as expected). :) *phew*
I mercilessly pruned the big girls again but then today bcchronic came over to smoke some of Mercedes (http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-log/96344-2-amateurs-armed-bag-seed-closet.html) and we ended up cloning and trashing the 2 big girls. A few days ago I put the middle-sized girl into the flower cab since there was no room in the veg cab, as you all saw here!
What that leaves me with in the veg cab is a dozen clones, some of which are tall and are really wilting, 2 male plants and one small-ish female (front right in the 2nd pic). bcchronic wants some of the clones and I want a good mother or two out of them.
It's going to be at least 2 months and likely closer to 3 by the time I can flower a full crop of NL so this log is not going to be exciting for a while. All the fun's in veg though so I guess it depends on what you consider exciting. There'll be lots of plant bondage so if you're kinky stick around! ;)
(3rd pic: the NL in the flower cab is front right. she just had 6 branches pruned off the bottom after the photo. you can see she's a little CFL-burnt)

Woah, c.com is different! :wtf: "where's the quote button?" :confused: "ah, thar she is." :wtf: well now I know where it is I'll be alright. ;) Could use a bit more colour though innit.
I'm slating 12 weeks (22 more days) for the popsicle sisters since Mercedes went for 11 week-ish and I think she could've gone a bit longer. Those other girls need more room so I'm considering culling that leggy NL in the flower cab. I don't know if I can bring myself to do it though. :)
And the inspection... I am paranoid so I knew that my scheme would work. It went even better than I expected... it was exactly what I hoped for. :D Luckily I'm in Canada so I knew they wouldn't be allowed [and probably wouldn't want] to try and look in closets and cupboards or anything. So there's not really much to worry about.
What I did was turn the light timers off the night previous. [I took the opportunity to change my light cycle to be on at night to combat the increasing summer temps] That eliminated any worries about light being noticed. Then I put the flower cab + vortex fan into the closet, turned off most of the fans, and lit a candle with some of that oil incense (non-smoky == good), all before 9am. They would show up before 3pm. I went back to bed since I'd been up late and they showed up around 11.30.
I answered the door and there were 2 of the bastards there. The building manager and some crony presumably from a "head office". My manager is cool and the other guy seemed so-so. The manager looked at the balcony while the other guy asked me of some stains on my kitchen counter would come off. I said I didn't know and hadn't really tried and he said ok. Then my manager talked to me about the BBQ while the other dude when to look in the bathroom and bedroom. He looked in the bathroom and went to go in the bedroom but saw my lady friend still lying in bed. He hesitated, stepped, then left without even looking around the room.
I had the thought that if she was here for the inspection it could be a great boon, but since the window was 9am-3pm I didn't bother asking or trying to guess when they would show up. By chance it all came together which just goes to show that I am a lucky, lucky son of a bitch. :D And that if you just think about what could go wrong and eradicate those elements then you shouldn't have to fret over stupid things like apt inspections. Actually what it shows is that I should get a damn house already.
Got no time to for spreadin roots,
the time has come to be gone.
And though our health we drank a thousand times,
it's time to ramble on.
I know that I ramble, and I apologise for nothing!

Yesterday was day 41 of veg for the 2 males + female there. I chopped the hell out of them but presumably they have not flinched and are going to need massive pruning during the next 2 months while they continue to veg.
The clones are a week old and 2 have been culled. Some of them are doing quite well and others not so well. A few are propped up with toothpicks, but I'm not sure if they still need them.
The girl in the flower cab is really leggy (the stretchy one in the middle of the 3rd photo). I don't like it one bit. I'm contemplating whether she is worth the space and her demise seems eminent. What do you guys think about her? Should I give her a chance? The idea of smoking some homegrown NL in 50-60 days is pleasant, and keeping her sorry ass alive.

Evening folks! Everything is fine, thank you. :)
So I've FINALLY gotten around to flowering some of the NL. It looks absolutely delicious! :D Here are some pics. These are when I just got thing set up in the new place. The NLs are vegging with some seedlings up top there in the closet. My closet was basically made for growing. :) :thumbsup: The reason they're bent over is because they were growing too fast and wanted to keep them low. It resulted in some cool looking plants.
after this are some bud shots so don't go anywhere.

Water curing (http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=7482&highlight=water+ala+tk) ... I cut a branch off one of the plants today, one that was had more amber trichs than the others. I put it in a jar of water, so I'l l let you know how it turns out in 10 days or so. :)
If I don't fuck it up I'll be able to compare it to the rest of the bud which I'll just cure in jars as normal, except I'm going to dry the buds for 5-7 days instead of 3-4.
I flushed the plants today, and water curing is supposed to leach out the nutes, see this other thread (http://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=403347&postcount=28).
If it doesn't go well I'm only out several grams of bud, not a big deal really.
:jointsmile:
edit: oh yeah, pics. they're ok-ish... but it's just a nug in a jar of water.

Day #49, yesterday
Several days to go, these babies look and smell better every day! :thumbsup: They have been flushed and are only getting h2o and molasses now.
Should I still bother to water with a pH of 6.0, or does it not matter now that I want them to use up nutrients in the leaves? I'm worried that the molasses will be ineffective or something at a different pH. These are in coco, btw.

Day #21, yesterday
This girl is fine too! She's the last of the plants I had in coco, so after she's done I'll just be in soil again. It'll be nice to stick to one pH and everything. Anyway she looks good, not much to say really. :)
There's an extra pic of one of the other plants just for good measure.

Hey TJM thanks for stoppin by. I haven't tried the water cured stuff yet. It'll be done soaking in 3 days (ish) and then it'll take a few to dry. After that it's supposed to be done so I should be able to report in a week.
I have taken a few pics but to be honest there doesn't seem to be much visible change. The colour may have lightened up a smidgen.

I'm impatient so I only left that nug in the water for 4 days. I dried for about 24 hours and it was smokable. It didn't taste or smell like much, a bit earthy. Somewhat smooth, it probably would've been nicer had I left it to soak longer. Sorry, no pics because it's gone. :)
Anyway here are the girls. There are a few immature seeds because the 3rd NL (almost 4 weeks in) has gone hermie on me! Oh well, what can ya do? I'm going to leave it in there for now and try and pick off the bananas.
Here are the pics. The first 3 are the 2 NLs that I'm harvesting in 2-4 days, whenever the coco is dry. :rastasmoke: The last 2 are the hermie, she's still fucking pretty even if quite seeded.

The nugs felt pretty dry after 2 days so I've got them in a paper sack. It already seems to be drawing out some moisture and I'll probably hang them up again this evening or tonight. I may post some pics then.
Report: I feel that I could've flushed for a few more days, at least. Smooth to smoke though and can be nice tasting. It smells really good at times. If I get the dry and cure right it'll be decent overall. It does the trick but I have mostly been smoking crummy popcorn nugs.

I may try to snap some macros of the dried nugs later.
The bud is now curing in mason jars. The biggest stems didn't quite snap clean so I'm going to watch them carefully today and let them breathe if need be.
Total weight is 65.1g. I have smoked 10-15g (easily) so it probably would've been closer to 2.5oz, but those were mostly popcorn nugs and such so yeah.
It tastes really nice when you take a fresh bong rip of the bud. It smells great when you bust it too.
