ok i have a female.....after the third week of veg. it started showing pre flowers (24/7 Light)...its alittle over a month....i started flowering it two days ago(12/12)....cause i heard when it shows flowers and has alternating branches its ready to flower...is that true

from what i know, you can flower pretty much any time. You don't necessarily need to wait for alternating branches.

being that small will it effect the amount of bud i get from it
dusto2k3
03-01-2007, 05:25 PM
yes. The bigger the plant the more budsites it will have.

Yes, but I see you have given it a nice home to spread out its roots, and that will make a positive difference in yield. Keep your lumens up, and you should be pretty happy!

well this how much room i have to work with.....is it a perfect size to flower for the room i have?

thats the answer i was looking for stinkyattic...thanx

doubtful, be ready for the plant to grow 2-3 times the size it is now once you switch to 12-12

i will tie down alittle....

The soil bag is appropriate.
You are DEFINITELY going to have to ditch the boxes under there, as dusto said, that thing is going to shoot up.
But the plant looks great and very healthy and bushy! wOOt

You might want to swap out 2-3 of those cool whites for soft whites, but it looks great anyway. Nice job man!

03-04-2007, 03:33 AM
well the soft whites that i got are less watt then the cool whites....well will i lose any yield due to not switching..I've read about combo grows with HPS & MH....all during flowering....well with those soft whites in there and the hps that i have its not as bright as if i but the cool white ones in (BRIGHTER) in my grow box...and i know more lumens the better...right

I'm not sure if the number of lumens matters if the spectrum is not one that they'll be using much anyway, but they certainly aren't hurting anything so I wouldn't worry about it. They do use the blue spectrum in flower, just not as much.

You should be alright for flowering simply with that HPS. Don't use "soft" white bulbs. They don't really put out a usable Kelvin for the plants. I could be wrong though, check the Kelvin rating on the soft-whites...
You want your Kelvin ratings to be about 6500K for your cool spec and 3000 for your warm spec.
I've always found that during flowering if you keep the same amount of the blue spec. you used during the vegitative state for flowering, the plant will stay more lush and lose far less of its lower leaves. And in low lighting (less lumens) conditions they will benefit from this and the flowers will become more dense. Although in some cases with some strains this is not always true. But keeping the cooler spec lights on them definatly will not hurt the plant.
I would recommend a little LST for that setup. Tieing it down will help increase lower budsite activity. I'm sure you know all about that by now.
Looks really good though! Very pretty specimen you got there.

That's my soil of choice.
It's great stuff. Used in junction with nutrients of your choice it offers a very well balanced diet for your plants. Plus it helps control moisture and humidity levels extremely well!
When I used to grow outdoors I used A LOT of that stuff.
What I would do is square off a 10x10 section. Dig about 1ft down all the way across the whole square. Then I would drop in about 2 bags of horse manure compost, roughly the same size as the MG Moisture control bags. Then I would drop 3 of the MG bags in.
Then I would put the dirt I dug up back in, use special tools to mix it all up really really good. Then I packed it down gently, again with special tools made for this.
When finished I would have a 10x10 square plot that is elevated about 8-10inches from the original ground.
Then I would plant and grow!
At any rate, when I did this without the MG in the same spot on the same ground with just the dirt I dug up and horse manure compost I constantly had problems.
This stuff really does do your plants good. Milk is to Bones as MG Moisture Control is to Healthy green lush plants.

You're wrong in the first paragraph, but you do have your facts straight with the kelvin ratings. HPS lamps are in the 2200K range, daylight MH lamps are about 5500K.
I have not flowered with CFLs myself but everything I have read supports what I said. Soft whites are around 2700K a lot of the time. Cannabis wants more blue light for veg, and more red light for flowering. But having some blue and red light present at all times is great, which is why I wouldn't suggest replacing all the 5500-6500K bulbs, just a couple of them.

is this the right color spectrum for flowering
and the lights that are off are the cool White
notorious P.O.T

u could turn on the cools.. it certainly wont hurt ya.. u can actually flower with nothing but cools but it will take longer.. the plants simply can use the warm light more easily..so u can add some lumen to ur flower.. + personally i got better results with a little combo of the kelvins.. plant look great btw good job..

Yeah there's really no reason to turn any lights off at all. Cannabis loves light. It uses more blue in veg, and more red in flower but still uses both blue and red throughout it's entire life. If you can't or don't swap any cool whites for warm still keep the cool ones on. She probably loves the mixed spectrum in there.

Ok as far as the CFL's are concerned.
CTT in Kelvin (K)/ Light Color/ Effect/
5000 to 8000/ Deep blue/ Encourages excellent leaf and stem growth.
4000 to 5000 / Light blue/ Encourages good leaf and
stem growth.
4000/ Neutral white/ Promotes normal growth.
3700 to 4000/ Warm neutral/ Promotes rapid growth.
3000 to 37000/ Warmer yellow neutral/ Highly active
photosynthesis for all stages of growth.
1500 to 3000/ Hot orange or red/ Promotes flowering
I have 2-42w, 1-30w, 3-26w bulbs and a 13w bulb on my plant right now. Of those, 1-42w-1-30w and the 13w are "soft white" aka 2700K aka FLOWERING bulbs.
The rest are 1-42w- 3-26w which are "cool white" 6500k
I can't remember who's grow it was I was looking upon, however he used a mix of bulbs and came out with great results.
This is what my buds looked like today only using CFL's going into the 3rd week of flowering only.

So how much do you water with your moisture control soil. or do you find you can water more and not worry about it?
50ul }{4ck3r
03-12-2007, 04:49 AM
since it has been flowering .....watering about once a week
the MG moisture control soil....you dont have to worry about over watering cause if you got good drainage...the soil only takes what water it needs...and drains the rest....i love it
