The weekend highlighted San Francisco's position as the capital of the gay porn industry. Elected officials -- including Assemblyman Mark Leno, Mayor Gavin Newsom and City Treasurer Jose Cisneros -- penned official statements honoring Colt Studios, which celebrated its 40th anniversary Friday. City Supervisor Bevan Dufty worked the crowd in the lobby of the theater before the Saturday night ceremony.
Later, after an award winner who starred in a movie filmed in Lebanon called for peace between that country and Israel, Griffin delivered again.
"Who knew it would take the gay porn awards to bring the Middle East together -- what they couldn't do at Camp David," she said.

i used to love sf. back in the 60's and 70's it seemed like one of the greatest places on earth. these days it seems more like that weird uncle that the family doesn't like to talk about. i can understand the need for porn and gay folks need their porn too, but since when are elected officials getting in on this action and when did these denizens of the film industries lower depths start considering themselves political activists. this all seems to be political correctness taken to the nth degree.
i have been there and it is a normaly place from what i saw i actually like the city. there werent gay activists on every block and there werent porno awards happening. so unless you have gone to the city and been anally raped stop the shit talking there are millions of normal people living there

oh, it's still a great place, but politically it's just a half step away from a rubber room. the whole are has always had a far left lean to it and that's one of the things i always liked about it, but now it seems as if the cause heads have almost completely taken over. i sometimes feel like i'm being mentally raped whenever i get within 50 miles of the bay.

Honoring gay porn is just stupid.... but then, I think just honoring porn is stupid. I don't see a need to make it illegal, but it is essentially legal prostitution. If you want to make some porn, fine, but don't pretend you're contributing to the good of humanity.

Well put.
That is simply the silliest waste of political energy I've heard of in... uh.... I think EVER.

Actually honoring ANY porn is pretty stupid but this is a free country and its their thing, so what?
I read the article so where does my tax dollar come into play? I must have missed that part.
Porn is porn if you except straight porn then why not gay porn, midget porn, whatever floats your boat as long as it does not involve violence or children.
I for one enjoy squirrel porn. :D

I guess it's either a case where all those city officials work for free or that since it doesn't directly affect some peoples tax dollars.....who gives a rats.
