scrog ??? hydro or soil ???

i was talking to my local hydro store owner and i was telling him i was planning on growing scrog and he told me that if i was going to do a scrog to use soil instead of hydroponics is there any reason why one would be better then the other if i would do hydro i would do a ebb & flow table?

If you get square pots, you can eliminate wasted root growing space. More roots, more nute intake, more bud, happier rustafa. Thats if you do soil. Scrog puts stress on the plant and could cause it to fall out of the net pot if you are using something like hydroton. The roots can hold better in soil, so maybe that is why, and maybe I am totally wrong.

it doesn't really matter whether you go hydro or soil as it relates to scrog. as long as you have a way to secure the screen above the grow medium you should be fine. i grew scrog in soil regularly but i did do a single plant dwc scrog one time with great results. good luck whatever you decide

yeah i thought it didnt make a differnce either i was just thinking about it when i got home for what reason he told me to do it in soil other then hydro... other question you think if i were to use foxfarm oceanforest soil for the plant after it rooted in rapid rooters it would be to strong for the plant that soil.

it should be excellent for rooted clones. some people even use it for seedlings but i prefer promix for them. i always used promix because of cost but if i had more cash to spend i would definetely go with the ffof as i use the ff line of ferts as well.

One thing to think about is getting the buckets out to clean them in hydro. The screen can be hung from the ceiling and then lifted up granted the plant is attached well enough to support its own weight. Peace

you should def go hydro. When you have to flush it makes a world of diffrence, and you will be glad you went hydro. Try taking a scrogged plant in soil out of your cab and putting it in the tub, or wherever, to flush it, and not damaging it.

i always lined the bottom of my scrog closet with plastic so when i flushed i just used a big shopvac to suck up the water as it pooled in the plastic. my screen was fixed to the walls so when the plants went in they didn't move again till harvest.
