My mom was diagnosed with Lupus around 5 years ago.

She struggled for awhile and did all kinds of different methods of prescriptions to make her feel better, one being prednisone...and another was chemo therapy once a week.

The doctors basically gave her the run around while she was being diagnosed..saying she had rhuematoid arthritis..then it was fibromayalgia...then it was lymes disease...Finally they found out Lupus.

So for a few years she was on these drugs to make herself feel better....and she got to the point where she didn't need the drugs anymore.

Around 2 years ago my mom started to get sick again...with different ongoing things...thats the thing with lupus is it is always different.

Anyway, so she would naturally always go to the doctor with her new health concerns of lupus..and they would tell her what it was, and give her more medication.

Well, she went on the chemo therapy again...for a long time..and she thought it was making her feel better.

Then she felt like she was good enough to not need chemo and I don't think it was working that well anyway.

So the latest now is that shes allergic to wheat, soy, dairy, and gluten...and now her doctor is saying she has a thyroid problem..and she got meds for that..

..and then a few weeks ago her doctor told her she had a kidney infection..and she did the meds for that...only the symptoms won't go away, shes still really swollen and not getting better.

Her doctor put her back on prednisone, because they said if she didn't than her body would attack her kidneys...and thats bad..

..I just don't see how prednisone is going to help anything. If anything I see it makes things worse.

I am just so frustrated because I know people die from lupus and I love my mom sooo much I just don't know what to do.

She just seems to keep getting worse, and there's nothing I can do about it.

..she always just sugar coats things so I don't get worried, and she won't even tell my grandma.

I'm just so mad...I wish I could do something...I want my mom to be normal again and healthy..cause shes so strong and always tries so hard..

I'm sad....:( :( :(

I'm very sorry to hear about this Tallulah, chronic suffering can really wear at a person. I hope you don't mind my asking, but what exactly is lupus, what does it do?

I noticed you said she's allergic to wheat, dairy, soy, and gluten. Gluten is actually the component of wheat that people are allergic to (myself included), so we can break that down to wheat, soy, and dairy. As I discovered lately, the intolerance to dairy (lactose actually) I had all my life is completely gone. This is simply because I stopped eating the gluten/wheat which allowed my intestinal celei (sp?) to repair, eliminating the lactose intolerance. The soy I don't know about, but if it makes you feel any better she's most likely just allergic to gluten and soy.

From what I read there, it seems your mom's body is having trouble producing enzhymes and other regulatory hormones (possibly). She may want to consider getting her pancreas checked out, but I'm no doctor either.

There are a few things I can suggest healthwise though, things doctors will innevitably have overlooked (some of the information below is based on more recent research).

1. The most obvious; have you offered her cannabis as a medication? Vaporization would be preferrable of course, her body is under enough strain as it is without the added tar in her lungs.

2. I've been reading some fascinating information about Vitamin-C lately, and you'd be surprised what this little miracle called ascorbic acid can do for you. I know because I've been following the program myself. Vitamin-C can fend off or even cure a large number of ailments, is a powerful anti-viral at large doses, and is very effective in maintaining overall health. You can buy it really cheaply in chewable tablets. The following information is meant to be used as extra VC intake on top of your regular diet. You don't really have to worry about accidentially taking too much since it's incredibly non-toxic. I'll also include some other nutritional information which is very valuable.

- Take one vitamin-E capsul daily. Vitamin-E doubles the staying time of Vitamin-C and prevents the formation of free radicals, as well as acting protectively against the spread of cancer. Not to mention that it's just good for your skin.

- Taking 2,000mg Vitamin-C at once can have a very uplifting effect, a sort of energetic "high". It increases mental clarity and physical energy. I do this about once a day and it works every time within about 20-30 minutes.

- The average person should take 3,000-4,000mg Vitamin-C a day just for regular health maintenance. Start at 2,000mg a day and work your way up another 2,000 or so every day.

- When you're sick with a cold or flu, you should take 8,000mg a day. 24,000mg in a day is pretty much a guaranteed cure, but 8,000 is still very effective. The reason you may not want to go higher is because such high doses can (occasionally) have a diaretic effect.... though it hasn't been the case for me.

- A Vitamin-A and Vitamin-C combo can be very effective in shrinking tumors and fighting off cancer. The best way to get vitamin-A is probably through eating raw carrots, since they contain all 8 types of carotenoids that make up the vitamin-A spectrum. An intravenous injection of these is optimal, since very high doses are needed. However, that's only high doses of Vitamin-C. Vitamin-A is relatively non-toxic, but can definately cause toxicity (even to death) if used in considerably higher-than-normal doses.

Now I don't know if what your mom has is cancer, but it sounds like it from the way you describe it. What I do know is that Vitamin-C is most effective at treating lukemia at 25-30 grams a day, and can have remarkable effects. This is, however, a dosage based once again on intravenous administration (I don't know where you'd go to get that).

I hope this information helps your mother, seriously give it a try and do some research yourself if you feel uncomfortable with the "large" doses (or so the FDA would have us think). I take 6,000-8,000mg a day for the past several months and have had nothing but good come of it. I've read that people have used WAY larger doses for 30 years and lived under optimal health. Here are some sites that advocate the information I've given you.

I really appreciate your input, my mom has Lupus though, not cancer. All of the things she suffers from is from lupus.

I also feel I learned somewhere that chemotherapy can cause allergies to things, like her wheat, soy, dairy and gluten allergy.

I really can't explain lupus, as it is a very complicated disease...however I can give you a link to wikipedia which explains it very well Lupus erythematosus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupus_erythematosus)

...my mom has been doing the vitamin thing and supplement thing like crazy..
...but thats the thing about lupus, sometimes things affect you in very different ways.

This disease is such a mystery that I feel I am absolutly hopeless...no one knows how to treat this disease, and no one knows what causes it.

All I know is that I'm gettin' really worried....
...and losing some sleep, as you can see.

She has been in an out of every doctor imagineable for years..and each one tells her something completly different.

changed her lifestyle many times to accomodate and make her maybe better...but it just seems that shes not every getting any better...

...It is a disease that can go into remission, and hers did once before...but it's been awhile...and I wish I could do something for her....I wish there was an answer.

Well my mom had to get a biopsy on her kidneys today.

She says not to worry.

But I'm freaking out.

Shit...wow..I knew J Dilla died...but I didn't know that was the cause.

..man..now I'm really scared. All this time I didn't even know people actually died of lupus but I keep hearing of all these people lately that have..and I think that is scaring me more than anything.

I feel really hopeless...and I just wish I could do something.

Thanks for your support....

...and yes, I smoke her out quite often..however...smoking her out gives her the munchies...and she is allergic to wheat, soy, dairy, and gluten...so the munchies are either a huge disappointment or she caves into her allergies.

I just don't know what I can do...
...but I feel like my mom could just die from this..and my mom is my best friend in the whole world..
