I want to begin growing soon but don't want to go through all of that trouble and expense buying a good watt HPS kit. Would it be fine if I used 2 decent watt fluorescents for 1 plant?
Here's mine. As of about 20 days into LST.

Looks pretty good to me, just looking on the most efficient method of lighting up many CFL's.
This is just one, long fluoroscent fixture, with two bulbs in it, at about 34-42 watts, COOL temp, for leaf growth. Instead of warm for spindly stem growth.

When using tube floros like that its best to keep the lamps like 1/4 inch above the growtip,if the upper fans grow into the lamps no harm done just bend them down a skosh.Baby clones and seedlings lone flourescent light, but they lose their effectiveness at a couple inches. Also when the plant gets 6-8 inches in height tube flo's just become ineffective you really need more wattage at that point. You can start 10 beautiful seedlings or newly rooted clones with a simple 4 ft 2 lamp flourescent, but keep the lamps virtually on top of the plants for best results.
