yea one time my 2 buddies and I went to some restaurant..and one of them starts daring us to pour salt on our forearms, under the palms, and hold an ice cube for a minute on it.

I got a scar on my arm that lasted for half my senior year of high school. haha
It burns quite a bit but it's tolerable...the only bad part is the mark it leaves!

It's a combination of a chemical and temperature burn. Someone had said it correctly earlier- the salt allows the ice to melt at a lower temperature, in addition to adjusting the salinity of your skin, making it more vulnerable to chemical changes.

What happens is the ice burns your skin and makes an indent into your arm. The square spot gets as hard as rock and you can't even feel it.

Then you get a whitish mark for a few hours on your arm, and it stays red for days...weeks, depends on how long you left it on, and how much pressure you were applying.
