Well we've got bits n bobs growing at the mo, but just got some new seeds yesterday, they in a paper towel germinating as i type, hope some to pop through tomorrow, and have decided to do a log, i wanna try and get the best from these seeds, and guess this is the best place for some help and advice. They are Nirvana's White Rhino and TH Seeds Akorn/Snowbud, both packets non feminized.
The set up have is a spare bedroom sectioned off into a veg & a flower room. Veg part is 7' x 5 ', flower part is 8' x 10 '. Temp is both rooms is usually between 76 - 80, humidity is 40-50. Lights are 600HPS, intake fan and extractor with carbon filter.
We transplanted the last babies into coco after germinating in rockwool, after having moved over from biobizz lite, we are feeding them on the remainder of the bibozz nutes we have, before switching them to the coco nutes we have just bought but these new seeds are going right into coco from germinating, and starting with the coco nute from beginnin we hoping for some decent results which could be the kiss of death me saying that but here's hoping!
I'll attach some pics once things have strated to happen in those paper towels, but just wanted to get my growlog up and running, any comment good or bad are most welcome, if we doing something wrong i'd love to know!

Sounds like a plan!
One thing to look out for is the Nirvana White Rhino had some problems recently with herms; Out of a 10-pack I got, there was only ONE female who didn't go fully herm on me... TAKE CLONES!!! label them and save whichever ones the donor mom didn't go herm. F'real. It's a nice strain, and worth growing, very strong and painkilling.

Hey thanks for that Stinky, we been taking clones off all the plants that we have already ( skunk#1, ak48, nlxbb, ppp, hash plant & skunk haze) go in flower room, as we can't really identify fems n males till the obvious shows lol, one thing i did read in soft secrets paper yesterday is that you can takes clones off plants in flower, i've read so many times that you can't, so a bit confused really, as the fems we have in flower of skunk #1, the clones (all fem) we had we have given to a friend who was having probs even gettin seeds to germinate, and short of buying more seeds germinating and goin through whole thing again, is it worth trying to clone, as they are turning out to be really nice plants.

one thing i did read in soft secrets paper yesterday is that you can takes clones off plants in flower, i've read so many times that you can't,.

Yup, cloning in flower is totally doable.
Hints:
-Since prepping a mom for flowering involves withholding N, and prepping for cloning ALSO does, guess what! You're prepped either way!
-When a plant is changing its life cycle, it is easier for the cells to turn into other things... like a cell that could divide and produce shoots, or roots, or sex organs?
-Early flower is a time that you may have success cloning. In fact, stupid fucking finicky strains that I have had trouble with in the past, I seem to remember them rooting BETTER taken from a plant in like the 2nd week of 12/12
-Avoid taking cuttings after you get actual bud mass, so up to the 3rd week... the bud can become host to ROT.
-And last, don't ever take the TOP when you are cloning in flower. Take low side branches, or your yield will suffer. If you take the top, you have to do it in veg and then give the plant 2-3 weeks to recover before initiating flowering.
Hope this helps!
BTW the best cloning method that I have used and loved is with rapid-rooters, clonex, and a heat mat. wOOt.

Ohh nice 1!! Can't wait to get in the room later when lights some on and take a couple of cuttings.

Ooops one more thing, 3 white rhino and 4 snowbud have germinated in less 18 hours, i'm a happy lass now !

Upto now we have 8 of each Akorn & White Rhino germinated, gonna get some small pots ready for them and wait for those cute little leaves to pop up !

Not of much but i'm very happy they have germinated so quickly, 18 out of 20 in 36 hours, these are the Akorn (Snowbud) which i'm just about to pot up into some Coco and put them under our clone lamp, which is a 220w Starlight, i think the 2 x 600W HPs in the veg room will frazzle them before they even pop their heads out the soil !

Whatsup man, i hear its best to plant them as soon as the root tip breaks through the shell, also u may wanna keep those roots out of the light, u sound like u know your stuff pretty well tho.

Also, 'i' have 2 white rhino females growing right now, well, i've only seen female preflowers so far, i hope none go hermie :(. Anyways, one is more sativa dominant than the other so i fimmed it and am in the process of tying it down with 2 days left in veg so i hope i don't stress it to hermie. Also the white rhinos seem to sidebranch more than the few other strains i've grown.

Hey Mr.Green :)
Yeah the roots were only in light 2 mins whilst i took a pic to show Mr Just A Beginner when he came home from work, then i potted them up. I've attached a couple of pics, nothing exciting, out of 20 seeds, we got 18 so really happy about that. I've heard good things about White Rhino, not heard much about Akorn but read good reviews on the net, n it's THC % is quite high so we thought we'd give it a whirl, we also had 10 x AK48 germinate at the same time, so 28 new babies as well as the 40 odd plants and 27 clones, i'm kept quite busy :) I'll post some more pics tomorrow, untill then, happy growing ! :)

Oh yeah, i've always had more success when i leave the roots to go a little longer before i pot up, i've done the 'pot it as the root shows' thing, but they kinda tend to die on me !

whatsup again, lookin good :). i kept my plants in small (4") pots for 2 weeks and noticed they were kindof stunted. Howeve, when i x-planted them to bigger containers (10") they seemed to like how the roots got really dense in that spot, they are absolute monsters right now.

I ended up x-planting the confirmed females again to 5 gallon home-depot buckets at around week 5 of veg and gave them a few days to recover b4 starting the 12/12 cycle march 6th. They are now 9 days into flower, no 'buds' are growing yet but they have alot of preflowers, i think they may be startin a little late cause of the x-plant, although i didn't lose any root-mass while i did it.

p.s. mine are almost 4 feet tall not tied down, so if your gonna veg them a lil longer like i did i would advise starting to lst them early cause its not as easy doing it in late veg/flower like i did/am.

well i hope i helped u with some of this ranting, keep up the good work , later.

Hey Mr Green !
Yeah i've never LST'd before and do wanna experiment with one of each strain, we also have 10 AK48's ready for repotting into their new buckets, i love the way the babies shoot up when going in a new home !!
We're gonna veg them for another 2 weeks maybe, making them 4 weeks old, and hopefully old enough to go into 12/12. We have some skunk haze and hash plant about 3 weeks into flower at the mo, they are an inch under 5 feet in height at the mo, nice to see but taking over the room lol, they were just on 2 feet when they went into 12/12, they just grew so fast, we didnt wanna top them so now we left with triffids lol.
I'll post some new pics of the akorn and rhino when the lights come back on in an hour, they have grown so much in the last 2 days.:)

is coco good then?

Just A Beginner
03-18-2007, 02:14 PM
I really like Coco, you can see by the piccies how much the plants like it, and how much that have grown in a week, they need watering everyday, tends to dry out quicker than soil ithink, but i was always one for overwatering before we switched to coco, so thats a plus for me really,

Nice looking plants there! I have read that coco seems to store nutrients, and if it gets real dry that it could really fuk with your plants. I do have a question for you all or whoever is watching and typing:

I am going to clone white widow and some bigbud that I am getting next week and I have G.H. kit and for cuttings here's what it says:Presoak the medium with a solution of thrive alive b1 red andinsert the cutting into Rootech gel and insert into medium.** Is this a successful way to do it? I dont want to spend to much money on cloning and do they like humidity or not so much humidity? I know clones like some heat and IS it safe to have the clones under CFL's instead of HPS? Thanks all !@!@! Here are a few pics of my soon to be closet grow BOX!!!

it is best, imo, to root under flourecent lights. they like heat, 75-85f, and humidity depends on the method of cloning. for instance; an aerocloner or bubble cloner will need no humidity dome. clones in rockwool or jiffy pellets will.

my all time favorite way to root cuttings is in soil, and a quick spritz twice a day is enough humidity for this method.

yeah i had no luck at all cloning with rockwool, we now clone in coco, quick mist everday, they in a heated propogator under a 110w staralite clonelight,as long as the soil dont get too wet or dry, they come through in about day 10d ays or so with me

oh and thanks for the comments about my plants, yeh they tend to soak up the nutes, and can hold like 7 times the volume of water. i've never let my babies dry out so not sure what it would do it it did dry out.

i sometimes forget to spray, in never seemed to harm them, just gotta make sure your soil doesnt dry out or get too wet really..

So cloning isnt that hard huh? Good I was reading that it is best to clone them in the 2nd week of flowering but I forget why, sorry I am tired and I am outta bud. I cant wait till I get my WW seeds this week. Nirvana shipped them out already so I am really excited!!! Woohoo I have two cats and they like to eat my leaves and cause trouble once and awhile. Stay green Just A Beginner!! You should post some new pics soon if ya get a chance .

clones from the bottom of a plant root better because they are closer to the roots, and have more of the hormone. also, if you have switched to flower ferts, high p nutes promote new roots.

hope that helps...

jab, we'd love to see some new pix... :p

Well they are now 21 days old n growing well i think ! I think i'm gonna veg them for maybe another 2 weeks, n throw them into 12/12 and hope for the best lol. Oh yeh and take some clones lol
I had a lot of trouble getting the hang on cloning, tried it in rockwool but ended up doin it in coco, and had quite a bit of success.
