I've been trying to quit for years and finally compromised by chewing nic gum. I breath better and smoke more weed. It's a trade off. Sooner or later I hope to drop the gum all together. Good luck. :smokin:

Please quit,

most people think it mostly effects PHYSICAL HEALTH but it messes with ur mental health, smoking can cause anxiety,

Read this online book Joel's Quit Smoking Library (http://whyquit.com/joel/#book)

It says that the only real way to quit is cold turkey, and explains why...Hope it helps, Bree

Tobacco.Worlds Largest Serial Killer. I have a friend who started 2 years ago just thought it was a bit of fun... now two years down the line he's on 20-30 a day, he's only 16, I doubt he'll make it to 30 in good health, Tobacco, makes the user feel the head rush is a normal feeling and only on the comedown do they think they need another one, Mentally addictive substances are terrible, be smart don't start, I'm sorry to lecture you, but I managed to quit after 6-7 months of smoking,I just took up gardening or instead of smoking a cigarette I used to something that kept me active e.g. I used to busy myself with homework, or I just used to smoke copious amounts of cannabis. Cannabis is the answer to all of life's problems.

i just recently quit like nothing, well i cant say quit 100% chilling with friends they give me smokes, but i havent bought any for 7 weeks now! wow
my secret; i have experienced enough things in my life to make these things like quitting a habit, like just stopping a part of my routine. i used to smoke after eating, all that ever happened is the idea of smoking a grit popped into my head.
control yourself its only hard if you let it be.

This is true. I am in the unfortunate position where I would probably be able to quit if I were able to spend about 5 days just stoned off my ass, smoking weed whenever a cigarette craving hit me, but I am in a position of responsibility where it's mostly acceptable to have a cigarette but no way can I smoke weed. So right now I am left with cold turkey quitting w/o other mood enhancers :( except I did get some stuff called Liquid Calm, it's a magnesium supplement, and it sort of works, at least if I make myself mix up one of those it takes my mind off smoking and it marginally calms me down. Just wondering if anybody had good tips.

I liked the patch. I had quit long ago on them, then I turned 21, hit a bar and took smoking ciggs right back up. I've haven't had a cigg in almost 10 weeks now. Only did steps 1 and 2 of the patch. Went cold turkey when step 2 was done, week 8.

My tip is if you want to quit you should avoid alcohol. It will make you want to take it back up again. Blunts wraps contain nicotine. Smoke joints or bowls for awhile.

Have you guys ever been to 43things? You set a goal for what you want to do (like stop smoking) then you meet a lot of people working on the same goal and you help each other. It's pretty cool.

Here is the Stop Smoking one...There are different ideas to help you stop there too like Chinese herbs and other herbal aids.

quit smoking for good on 43 Things (http://www.43things.com/things/view/10263)

Good Luck...I hope you are successful.

Go to the store and get a good herbal respiratory tea.

It helps you to breathe and really relaxes you. Hard candy helps with the coughing too.

I know it is a very very hard thing to do but I know you can do it. Everyday it will get easier.

I see nothing wrong with using weed either. There is no way you can smoke it like cigarettes.

i quit smoking in 99' and i havnt had one fag since. i had tried to stop smoking a couple of times before by cutting down and another time by forming non smoking pacts with other people but i always failed. cutting down wont work because at some point in the day you will want to smoke and will have the cigs on hand, just begging to be smoked. its far to tempting. just stop, flush all your fags down the bog, smash your ashtrays and get rid of your lighters. have nothing around you that will cause you to start again. never try giving up with someone else either, as soon as they give in you will too. i didnt use patches or gum but i would use them if i were you, every little bit helps.

I'm only 16 and tried my first smoke when i was 6 lol
with my buddy who was 8 at the time, we saw parents andothers doin it
so we decided to give it a try and well since then i've been hooked really
but this is advice a friend of mines mother gave me
she said when you decide to quit don't tell anybody
cuz you know how you got heckler's sayin ohh i bet you, you won't last blah blah
and i actually believe it's a good idea just keep it to yourself
you don't have to prove it to anybody else...

Who controls your actions more than yourself? Nobody. If you don't want to smoke a cigarette, don't smoke one. Get through the couple weeks of withdrawals, change your lifestyle and never smoke them again. That's what I'm doing. I'm 17, and January 1 I quit. I had been addicted for about seven years. I'm never going to smoke cigarettes ever. It's something that will probably make you die, as if there aren't enough things out there to take your life from you besides inhaling something that you know will. It doesn't even make you feel that good, so it definitely isn't worth it to me.

I can smoke marijuana and it's not a threat to my health, and it makes me feel good in many more ways than just one. Considering I have a slightly lesser chance of contracting cancer by smoking marijuana, and if I smoke cigarettes I have a 20 fold increased risk...I'd rather stick with the marijuana. Life's important to me..important enough to make me feel miserable for several days while quitting the death sticks.

Some anti-depressants Really help smokers quit.
it is because they act on the same neurochemicals as nicotine does.

I dont have the stats on me but it has a huge success rate among heavy smokers (30% of something)

if you see a Dr. make sure they know what there talking about.
Not all anti-depressants work. None of the ones what affect dopamine work IE Prozac
