I have to laugh.
The latest bill of law that they are trying to get through Parliament, is an outright ban on poking fun at religion.
They call it 'an incitement to religious hatred'.

How one can put humour in the same vien as hatred, is anybody's guess

What this means, is that stuff like "Blackadder", Monty Phyton's "Holy Grail" and "Life Of Brian", etec, will be outlawed.

Probably 99% of all circuit comedians (ie, Bernard Manning, Dave Allen, etc), will now face legal action against most of their routines.

So that Muslims, Christians, and others will not get offended.

FFS, this country is going down the pan in a big way...FAST!

(Amp, your midget/penguin/nun joke, would land you in prison  )

Yet another ridiculous law to control how we think and act, brought about by our Home Secretary - David Blunkett. A man, who has had an affair with a married woman and is trying to get custody of their child (and (allegedly) the as yet unborn child that this woman is carrying), who has (allegedly) fast-tracked a visa application for said woman's nanny.
I always thought that adultry was against the law

I am getting sick and tired of this country, and how this government is slowly, but surely, sending us into economic and social disorder.
The only reason they want us to join the EU, is because they realise that it is all going to shit, and that by joining the EU, they can get some sort of net gain.
Most of you already know how I feel about the level of taxation that we have to endure, add to that the growing sense of racial hatred that is being stirred up by the so-called 'PC Brigade', and the fact that this government is blinding the public to the real crisis that we face (economically) - and now, they propose to curtail our freedom of speech still further, by telling us what we can and cannot laugh at!

For fucks sake, please tell me that I'm paranoid, or summat, because, quite honestly I can see that within the next 10yrs max, this country will be as a third-world state. That's if there hasn't been some massive race-rioting, which would give them the perfect excuse to introduce ID cards (which, incidentally, has NOTHING to do with terrorist threat, but more to do with Big Brother tactics), and give them 'credence' to introduce a police-state.

I am not religious, but (as long as there isn't any fundamentalism going on (all religions)) I respect other people's beliefs.
I am not racist - I view people as humans/people/individuals, regardless of colour, creed, or nationality - but, normal thinking people are slowly being turned into racist biggots, because they are bombarded with disproportionate opinions by poeple who clearly have no clue.
(We're not allowed to put up Christams decorations because it might offend other religious sects)

I am extremely depressed at what I see happening, not only to this country, but to the world over.
America wages war on 'terrorism', and yet, REAL terrorist go yet unpunished (Mougabe, to name but one).
Britain panders to the minority sector of this country to 'save them from attriction, and yet in doing so, they themselves are inciting religious/racial hatred within people who would otherwise not care.
Honest, hard-working people are being taxed to death, whilst the lazy non-contributors live a life of comparative luxury.
Our pensioners, the one's who fought for our freedom, are being treated like shit, and are left to suffer the indiginty of poverty and disrespect - this winter, hundreds of them will die, because they cannot afford to heat their homes, and essential services (meals-on-wheels) is seen as 'not financially viable' - this is how the state repays the sacrifice and pride that they showed in the great wars of our time.
UK companies are leaving our shores in their droves, because it is cheaper for them to go overseas - leaving thousands of people out of work, and so increasing the financial burden upon our country.

I despair, I really do.

It saddens me to think what the western world has become - a balance sheet.

Ok, I'm venting a frustration that is almost palpable, but this frustration is not going away anytime soon.
I truly sick to the core

What kind of life can I expect my children to look forward to?
What kind of world will they inherit?

A world that is fast imploding on it's own selfish greed and disregard for the poeples that inhabit it...and why?...because it is a world that is more concerned with making money, than it is about improving this dire existence.

FFS, we are all part of this glorious planet - why do we seem to stand idly by and watch it crumble away before our very eyes?

:mad:VERY UNHAPPY RES:mad:

I know how you feel

That's why, as soon as I can, i'm fucking off out of here, and living somewhere hot, chilled, and where I can smoke weed in peace.

The UK can destroy itself if it wants to... as long as it waits until i've left

Peace

And where would you go, GHoST?

The desease is spreading faster than a tub of butter on a hot day :o

And, let's face it, how are you gonna find the money to make the move?
You are now trapped in the system..taxes prevent any means of saving, unless you're on extremely good wages.
I haven't got a pension, let alone anything put back for my kids education!
I have to find a different job within 2 weeks, otherwise I face losing my home, bank account, and all the rest of it....

Where would you go?

A priest, a rabbi, and the pope all walk into a bar.
The minister ducks.

It'll never pass. :)

I'd go to Holland, Res.. lol

Seriously, I dont care about money. As long as I have enough to survive, and occasionally buy some weed, then i'm happy.. I dont need to spend money on cars, holidays, etc etc, because material possessions mean shit to me. So I could quite happily move to Holland with hardly any money, get an easy job, and spend the rest of my time smoking weed, writing, and making music :)

I'm afraid that it is all but statute law...it's to do with the wording, you see?
"...incitement to religious hatred"

They did a text-poll on channel five news, but they worded the question wrong.
Their question was:
"Should we ban material that would incite religious hatred" (or summat like that)
Well, of course the only answer is 'Yes'...but the question is loaded, as all such questions are!

The question should have been:
"Is the government made up of complete wankers that are trying to curtail our right to freedom of speech?"

lol

You get my point though, loaded questions are unrepresentative of the issue, and of public opinion.
If one is offended, then there is the option to turn off/walk out....

Yups, Holland sounds good, GHoST, but you may be unaware of the growing racial tension that is steadily becoming apparent, for the self-same reasons that it is here....

well hey, i'm not racist.. I never say/think/or do anything that could ever be considered or interpreted as racist, so I have nothing to worry about lol

No, nor do I, or am I...racist, I mean..you know what I mean lol

Yeah, fuck it, let's go to the 'Dam...get so blatted that it won't matter what the rest of the world does lol...

"Dude, some dude on the radio reckons that we got 5mins till the world explodes..."
"Cuh! Good job I made this 'big-ass-fuck-me-look-at-the-size-of-it' joint then, init!"
:D
"Yups"

exactly!!

The way I look at it, I can't make a difference to how the world is run. Sure, I can make a difference to the smaller things (smaller in size, not importance!!), but I'll still be worrying and getting anxious over the big things.. So, why not just get high, put on some music, and forget about it? :)

err..cos I got no money to buy dope/weed...because the gov. has taken it all to fund their ridiculous ideas.

I wonder how much tax-payers money has been spent on this years 'drink-drive' campaign?...£1MILLION?..£5MILLLION?...£30MILLIO N?

Curing the drink-drive thing is easy...you get caught driving drunk, you get banned for life..simple...no-one will drink and drive again!

There, I came up with that idea, and it didn't cost a penny!

Why don't you grow your own, Res?

Seriously, you can get 10 seeds for as cheap as £10 (P+P included) at www.cannabis-seeds.co.uk (http://www.cannabis-seeds.co.uk/) and then all you have to do is go to your local gardening shop or hardware shop, buy some fluros, pots, etc, and youre all set :)

Deary me Res,
How deluded you are.
The ID cards ARE GOOD FOR US, THEY ARE OUR FRIENDS, THEY WILL PROTECT US FROM TERRORISTS AND ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!
Except........
You DON'T HAVE TO WEAR THEM/HAVE THEM ON YOU...
so how can they be ID cards?
er... wait a minute...
They aren't replacing passports, so....
er...
hang on a second... what do they do?
Seeing as people can fake any kind of document passports and what not included, how can they be so sure they can't be forged? They can't.
So the new scheme run by our so called government, CAN be forged, unless they have more security than microsoft, the fbi and the cia put together.
But let's face it, nowhere is impenitrable (spelling)
Banning people's humour is a joke, literally.

As for why they are introducing the id cards...
(Here's the fun part)
When Labour won the vote the first time round, they agreed to join the EU and when they did that in 2000 they joined a scheme for ID cards for EVERYONE in EVERY country in the EU, (AKA BIG BROTHER).
The brits told Labour to fuck off, we don't want to be in the EU.
Thing is, labour have already invested millions of our pounds into the id cards.
And I'll bet, we are getting the id cards one way or another, seeing as the government can use the "government act" or whatever the heck its called, and force the change of law anyways.
Let's face it, they have already done it once, with fox hunting...
brb dinners arrived.

lol, Mole...the ID cards..
When we reach 16, we get something called a National Insurance Number...but, as you say, the Labour wan...I mean, government didn't think to utilise them, but instead wasted..I mean invested all that dosh which could have been better spent on important stuff...like, say, education, or health.

The proposed ban on religious jokes, is of course a smoke screen to divert our attention from this - http://politics.guardian.co.uk/queensspeech2004/story/0%2C15521%2C1357801%2C00.html

You will pay particular attention to the "Drugs" section, and the new powers that will be bestowed upon our police force!

I'm afraid that we are approaching the time when we find ourselves in a police state, with CCTV and ID cards, and all sorts.

Don't ya just love the freedom that our grandparents fought so hard for?

religion is stupid. god cant be seen, touched, smelt, or ...tasted
it's all just a bunch of bullshit that some dumass cheifton made up 1000s of years ago to explain why water fell from the sky and just about anything else he couldnt explain to his people.
