trimming after harvest question.

After you harvest n you trim up the buds..do you cut the leaves off that have crystals on em or do you let them dry up with the bud....i figured since it seems like a waste you wouldnt but im not sure since its gonna be my first harvest...if anyone could answer this it would be appreciated...Thanks in advance
