I have used promix and perlite so far for my grows because Its so easy to get. I don't have a car. So I don't have many options.

I constantly have low RunnOff Ph problems. 5.7 to 6.2 Even when I Ph Up my water to say 7.5 or even 8 if it falls extreamly low.

Should I assume that my ProMix from Crappy tire (Canadian Tire) doesn't have a sufficent amount of dolomite lime added to it. TIt says Netural Ph 7 on the bag but im starting to wonder.

I feed with Botanicare Nutes Pro grow pro bloom.. I use small amounts every watering. As well I use BiO-GEnsis High Tide and Synergy.

So Just curious if there are any long time ProMix useres who add more lime or have a proMix trick for keeping PH in check with Proper Ph'd Water.

If I had a car I would drive to get some compost. But thats not happening anytime soon.

Any Help is greatly appreciated.

thanks Kindly..

Stinky should be back on Monday. She's usually good for answering a question or two.:)

Ohh I already know what Stinky will say,, "Find Some humus" period. but right now I have no means of getting some.

I can get some soil with it mixed in already made by Natural Select I believe you get it in Canada at Any store that sells Potting Soil. Its Perlite, Peat and Humas mix. its OMRI tooo which is a good thing.

But I don't know what ratios its mixed at. So unless I just try it (Which I porbs should actully) Its Promix for a while still.

LoL, she'lkl tell ya to get rid of the PEAT!!!. She's always raving about humus, i've never seen that over here in SD.

KDS, I don't use and lime in my Promix BX. And since I've switch from my own peat mix to promix, i havent had any of the ph issues i was experiencing. Next is coco tho.

Peace.

I use the stuff and it will give a plant 3 weeks worth of what it needs. After that amount of time you should start using your nutes. Adding humus will greatly increase drainage and help with retaining moisture.

i always add 1tbsp dolimite lime per gal to my promix and have never ever had any ph issues since i started doing it almost 2 years ago! i also always ph all nutes /water to 5.8-6.2 before give it to the plants. make sure you use dolimite lime and not hydrated lime(way too strong)

Well thats good to know guys thanks alot.

I basically want the Humas and compost for Ph buffer. Next time I go all Peat Ill be sure to add some like you do. justaseed.

I decided for this next batch of seeds I will try the Unkoown Mixes. They are by Hortibec. This company I believe is Canadian and you can find their products at most stores. Their Nature Mix section is most common. They have the OMRI label and they say on the front Peat x humas X Compost x Perlite. the problem is I don't know what the ratios of this stuff is mixed at.

I tryed their regular potting Mix and their tropical plant potting mix. They both said they had peat humas compost and perlite. The regular potting mix smelled more like worms than the tropical potting mix. Both bags were sealed and seemed very rich in organic materials. they smelled real earthy unlike Promix. I added more perlite to the mix and a small amount of Dolomite Lime.

My next batch of seedlings will go in this mix. I think this one is going to be better using this potting soil.

it always helps but i always probe the poil before actaually buying it, Crappy tire workers usually dont mind....

If your toronto based, then i suggest heading to your local grow shop, THV or any garden store has way much more knowhow then teh seasonals at crappy tire, trust me, i use to worok there before i had intrest in growing, the workers have no idea wtf tehyre talking about, nor do they care.

Ohh Yeah I don't expect them to know anything. I just can't find the mix ratios on the internet or anything. I'm thinking I will have to email HortiBec

Which I believe is Quebec based comapny.

I can go to the Grow shos but they only Carry coco based products. Which Im not a huige huge fan of at this time. I have a decent feeling about this potting soil. It smelled really rich... One bag smelled exactly like the worms I would buy for fishing from what I rember in my younger days. And they booth looked very Dark in colour and texture. much different from ProMix.

I hope it works well. Its not cheep but very convienient to get.

if i use 1 tablespoon dolomite lime per gallon for pro mix bx. does this sound right...

FOR 100% ORGANIC NUTES - 6.3-6.8

FOR HYDROPONIC NUTES - 5.8-6.2

this is what iwas told to do for my 100% organic nutrients for pro mix bzx, is this correct if i still use 1 talbespoon dolomite lime...

ps. i let my organic nutes sit for 24 hours before using to get my ph better stabalized....

5.8 to 6.2 is what you want using promix
