tix are mad expensive, but not considering how many amazing bands will be there.
the reunited Police are playing and tix to see them alone are like $175... they probably have the greatest collection of musical talent of any single band... stewart copeland, andy summer, and sting... UN-REAL!!!!

I'm determined to go, the lineup is damn good this year, forgetting about the big names, even the smaller names playing are insane, Apollo Sunshine, Gogel Bordello, Tortoise, RX Bandits, Annuals, Railroad Earth, Aesop Rock.
You can't get any better with Tool, The Police, WP, Wilco and The Flaming Lips, Manu Chao, SCI, Bob Weir & Ratdog, and Ween headlining.

02-28-2007, 06:43 PM
BTW:
Probably won't be going this year. I went in 2003 (I think that was the second year of it?) when I was working for a band called funky Meters, who played the festival that year.
I think a good time was had by all if memory serves me right :D

dont u cant put a price on music. u get what u pay for, if u wanna see GOOD headliners your going to pay alot, how do u think the festivals get bands to play? u think they play for free...you cant put a price on great live music.
Tons of heady nugs to come this summer.
Blaze on!

yo guys. i've been to bonnaroo the last 4 years and plan to keep going every year as long as possible. i bring at least 2 oz's every year and always just stuff it in my sleeping bag. they've never searched my car and i'm usually rollin in a suburban with several other people (mostly severely baked after the 14 hour drive, lol). the only thing they really care about is glass; dont bring it. they'll make u open any cooler u have and pull out any glass bottles, etc. then again, in past years people who bring glass have worked to our advantage as the guys checking the cars run around handing out bottles and tell u to just throw them in the grass between the lanes of cars before u get in.
bonnaroo is an awesome festival that i hope i never have to miss. the lineups r always good and there r always surprise artists that just show up on stage at random times that no one knew was coming. "security" is more likely to smoke with u than fuck with u. tru story from last year: there's a checkpoint when u go into centre-roo(area where all the stages are, seperate from the campgrounds) i had on boardshorts, sandels and a bandana. there was one pocket in the thin boardshorts in which i had a 1/2 oz and a double blown(fairly large) pipe. the security guy patted the one pocket, cruched the bag around, smiled, felt around the piece, smiled again and said 'have a good night'. u really dont have anything to worry about down there. if u dont go, ur missin out on a great time.
for u first timers, something u wont find on the official schedule is that at 420am and 420pm behind the "movie tent"(u'll find it on the map u'll be givin at the gate) there's always massive community smoke-outs every 12 hours, every day of the festival. it's a friendly community that is extremely good at sharing:thumbsup:
hope to see u guys there. stay safe.

From my experience at festivals (I have never been to Bonaroo) most security doesnt care about weed, the only time I have ever seen security say anything to a dealer was when he was trying to sell coke around all t-shirt vendors and shit. Most cases where people get cought with weed they were probably doing something stupid to get in trouble and then the cops just use the weed to keep them.

In my opinion, there are plenty of other festivals that are not only CHEAPER, but not as crowded, as Bonnaroo. I'm just not a fan of the emerging mainstream appeal it continues to give off, and would much rather go to a more laid-back atmosphere with better music. Bonnaroo is the Coachella of the midwest......a joke now-a-days.
The Police? Tool? Please. Festivals like All Good, Funk Fest, and 10KLF are MUCH better, and always will be. Sure The Roo has some great acts scheduled, but they also have some acts that are terribly out of place. Tickets are an arm and a leg, and it's not really worth it considering the other options out there. Plus the Roo doesn't have Leftover Salmon...an act that would NEVER stray from their roots.
But to all those that do go: be safe, and enjoy live music. I'll see y'all at the REAL festivals this summer. ~

I would have to say that bonnaroo has really changed over the past few years. The first blow was going corporate, now the entire vibe of the festival has changed. If your looking for a good festival check out 10KLF.com, its a great time.

I'm going to Bonnaroo for the first time this year, and does anyone know what the security is like? The website says they search all the cars, but is it really that extensive? I plan on bringing some "supplies" to use, and trade, so I wouldn't want to get caught. I have heard once you get inside it doesn't really matter what you do. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? The line up is awesome I can't wait.

Hey, SumSkater, I went in 2005. They search your car but its a quick search. I saw people getting beer/alcohol taken (because it was in obvious coolers) but not really anything else. Just make sure you hide anything you're bringing. you'll probably be good unless you're trying to bring in a pound of weed or something.

10KLF looks like a chill place... but the line-up doesn't touch Bonnaroo and it is not that much cheaper. im gonna stick with The Police (rock legends), the Roots, White Stripes, Damien Rice, Ziggy, regina spektor, kings of leon, TOOL, etc etc

This is the story with security. It really depends on who you get for security at the gate. When i went in 05 and 06, some of the security dudes would be checking cars a little bit, while others are smoking fat doobies and just wave you inside. I remember that last year they did have a local sheriff at one of the gates and sometimes he would search a trunk or two. They are not really looking for people with weed, they are looking for the tanks of nitrous, which they did a good job of keeping out lof certain areas in 06.
PrideOfCucamonga
03-23-2007, 04:41 PM
By the way, they get pissed if you have any type of glass, so bring cans. In 05 they were pretty cool about all the alcohol. One security booth would pretend to take out your alcohol, then thow it over the fence and you could just pick it up on the other side. They are pretty chill about smoking weed openly. My friend walked in and they found a bit of weed on him and two glass pieces, he told them it was for himself and they were cool about it. :D

nah they'll check like one compartment in your car... they checked a cooler we had out in the open and nothing else
honestly just keep whatever you have on your body, or a place that's not a usual check spot, and you'll be fine
and yes, inside, you can do whatever so long as you're not obviously dealing, or lighting up a bowl right next to a security guard, etc
just be discreet in your purchases, and in general don't be an idiot and you'll be fine... they don't give a shit

Could anyone enlighten my on how/where you are suppose to purchase tickets... on Bonnaroo's website it has a big huge link that says "BUY TICKETS" but it only takes you to the page that explains about the tickets, theres nothing about where to order anywhere. A search on google shows a lot of sites selling tickets but they seem to be a lot more than what the Bonnaroo site advertises. Like 350 or more a ticket, and thats way too much. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its a Plant
05-29-2007, 05:18 PM
Yeah man there's really no limit to tent sizes, so I always say bring the biggest ya got. At Summercamp we had a 15X15 canopy AND a 12x8 tent and still needed more room for all our campers. Our neighbors literally had a tent the size of a small swimming pool too, so don't even worry about having something too big.
Hope Bonn's fun for you too! Wish I could go, but hell I can't shell out that kinda cash.

Amigo, everyone was smoking all the time, lol. So, how easy was it to find the goods?
Sad part is there was a bunch of bunk drugs, and by the last day everyone who bought the bunk drugs were reselling them, so if you didn't find the goods on day or or if you didn't bring your own then it was hard to get real stuff.
