Hi!
I'm 43, happily married, smart beautiful kids in college. History of cannabis: I was originally from Florida, and hit my teens in the 70's, 80's. I started toking when I was about 14. First time I smoked, nothing happened, the second time, I was in a mini aircraft, like a 140, and there was just me and my friend the pilot. He flew totally stoned!! Okay, now I'm older, I find this amazing, but at the time, I was about 15, I thought man, that's cool, but literally, he flew so much that getting high was nothing. Isn't that amazing? I think his dad was a pilot, and he was raised learning how to fly. Anyway it's common in Florida, trust me. Lots of people fly, just like driving. And he lit a joint and we smoked it. I think he was 18. And when we landed, the landing was so great, the landing lights were all lit and up and I was so relaxed. Wow. And then the next time I got really high, my friends took me to DisneyWorld and got me pretty baked in the SkyTram. Okay, so smoked occasionally until I got married and pregnant. My husband smoked every single day and so did I. (This was 22 years ago!) Yes, I smoked when pregnant. I did not smoke cigarettes, just weed. I had two children and decided to taper off, and finally stopped smoking in 1994. I have not smoked at all until this last weekend, when my now grown college attending daughters decided they wanted to smoke so we had a girls party, so I could explain the highs and what they were feeling. And we did, and my daughter left me a bud on the table, and I almost forgot what it was like being high and listening to Steely Dan until I actually did it again! Very cool. Why is this stuff illegal again? Please someone, explain it to me.
Anyways, that's me! Mom, work in IT, live in the `burbs, drive a Mercedes, and smoke weed! I am what my parents warned me against.

Welcome dancerat- I started smoking pot in 1970, and quit twice, once for nine years and then three years (because I quit drinking and AA prohibits the use of any substance --hahah except cigarettes, coffee, and massive amounts of sweets!!!) so I felt pressured to quit. But the last time I started smoking again (1999) I decided it felt too nice and why not- it has a positive effect on my life. It is illegal because the truth of it has been denied, and falsehoods proliferate in the minds of fools. It's total bullshit!
There are lots of fun people here on this site- welcome!

Hey Dancerat!
Long story short, MJ is illegal because the majority of the population ruled against it due to lack of knowledge.
Great story btw!
Im actually trying to get my mom to come smoke a blunt with me and my sister but dont know how since she "quit" about 5 years ago.
What would you recommend?
Anyway, welcome to Cannabis

Welcome Dancerat! It's always nice to see a mom on the boards. I've got 4 little ones, ages 11, 9, 8, and 5. I'll be 38 in May.

Cool story. Flying while high sort of makes me 'noid...Do you still live here???
It's never too late to re-kindle some of those old, fun habits. Especially, now that the kids are grown and can watch out for themselves.
(Steely Dan is on tour and coming to Orlando in May!)
