I dont know what profession I want to take up for the rest of my life and my parents dont have enough cash for me to fuck around in college until I decide. I figured on moving to a flat in New Zealand where everything is cheaper and they are in love with Americans. I could use some tips on making it on your own and getting ends to meet. I always wanted this but the reality is sinking in considering this is all only a few months away. Much obliged.

Well, you got to think ahead at least somewhat. Just be able to really know how comfortable you will be with x amount of money.

Your job is going to be your main concern as that will have the biggest effect on your budget. You can make some more money if you have a skill in an area or if you plan it out a little. You can also just go job hunting at random and settle for whatever pay. Just make sure you can live well enough off that pay. People can be happy with low wages if they spend on necessities and sparingly on luxuries, and are able to focus on what really makes them happy.

I would say if you could find a good medium paying job, it would make it a lot easier. In the mean time you can take a class or two as/if time allows at a local community college (if there's one nearby enough). It won't be a garuntee that you'll find your profession that way, but it might, and it probably will at least let you know where you want to go, what road makes you happy. Even if you drop out and say fuck college, you'd know that you'd rather be working.

Whatever makes you get by ok and keeps you happy, thats what I'd say you'd want. The only example that I can really think of are surfers. Ones that do things like live on a low rent house/apt on the beach, surf in their free time and go do a class or two and work something like roofing or painting or something.

I don't know, I hope that helps you out. In anycase, just make sure you're happy. There's no real way to know until you try it out. Good luck.

New Zealand isn't THAT cheap from what I understand, and they don't like foreingers taking their jobs, especially Americans. There are plenty of places you can go though that have a better quality of life for a cheaper price than the united states. you mentioned not having time to go to college, have you thought about teaching english abroad? you can be qualified in some european, latin american, or asian country, as long as you do a four week TEFL program. Plan ahead and you'll be okay bud!
