LOL. The day the bookbuyer is on campus is a good day.

I know how you feel, only I have to pay for my books...so, uh...it still probably doesn't work out, but I spend the money on weed regardless.

When I was a freshman I sold back every book I had, but I've learned to hold onto the ones I know I'll need later on.

if you buy a book for say 170 at my com col
theyll give you 17 dollars for it if its unopened brand new (10% OF WHAT YOU PAID)

although there is a book store in albany that will give you slightly more than that..but just wondering what you all thought of the 10% of what you paid ripoff masterpiece

to the point where you would have had 170 at the moment you bought books instead of weed..later....granted you didnt use or open the book (!?!?) youll have 17 dollars..basically the difference between a zip and a 20 bag...

do you get what you paid back in full?..cause that would blow my mind

Shit, I always go on Amazon after the first week of classes, and buy the book, but I buy the edition BEFORE the one assigned. I've been doing this for 3 years now, and there are very few differences between new and the old editions.

Total spent on books last semester: $97.42
Total I SHOULD have spent: $367.09

See what I mean?

I should do that. I keep my books around for other classes, just in case I need them.

But I do have a bundle of textbooks.

My college has rental textbooks. I don't get any money at the end of the semester, but I only pay 90 bucks in rental fees for all my books. :D

This is such an ironic post it is funny....

Don't scorn the value of education. I agree, if someone is just wasting time and money and not attending class or even trying, then it is a waste. However, in situations where that is not the case, education is not something to scorn.

And yeah, its pretty sick when my parents feel like being benevolent and buying my books but then forget that they paid for them so I can get the cash.

what a thread! :D yea, i've been doing the "parents buy my books and i sell'em back for weed" for 2 years now, works very well, though I do tend to feel a bit guilty...of course the guilt dissipates as soon as I get my fresh bag

My parents are examples of where a college education will take you.

Yall might get more money off ebay, but that bookman is INSTANT cash.

Alot of times i got 3-4X what the bookstore would give me.

I NEVER EVER sell books back to the bookstore. They rip you off, because of *convenience*.

Funny u talk about this, my buddie all semester long will go around picking up ppls books if they leave the class room without it or leave it in the study areas or w/e and then at the end of the year he sells them all back to the books store (of course he makes other students sell back a few of his books along with there own and cuts them a lil profit, so the stores doesnt think its funny when a guy walks in with over 200 books to sell back)

ya he made a few grand...bought a qp and we smoked it all. he told me this sotry while i was smoking the qp with him and i slapped him in the face....i had a book stolen from me while at school

To be fair, most of the time I use *most* of the money that I get back for books to buy the ones I need for next semester. I just use the leftover money, which usually isn't very much.

Yeah, mine too, which is why the value of a good education, and not scorning it, has been strongly instilled in me. My parents are the typical "married young and with nothing in their pockets but now they are both lawyers" story that comes from good education.

i spent 300$ (which was supposed to go towards a nice bong and a new bowl) on books this semester and i found this in my art textbook:
"for example, we speak of something being 'written in stone' when we mean that it is unchanging and enduring.....Someone who is 'stoned' is unable to move because of excessive consumption of alcohol or other drugs''.
HELL YES
