ok. i really should remain commentless on this. but here we go. WHY THE FUCK GO WITH NORV??????? the man's headcoaching career is defined by stinking it up as a head coach. now lets see. schotty got the boot cause he couldnt take his teams anywhere in the playoffs. so lets replace him with somebody who couldnt even take the team there....problem solved...

is this seriously what they are thinking? norv is a great OC, helping develop troy aikman and alex smith, to some extent frank gore. he'll be great to complete the work on rivers. but thats it. he wont gain the respect of the team. he'll be there 3 years tops.

i call 2 years.....lets remember this post!

he has potential..i think they think he is the king of almost there, so maybe they think with the help of their assistants and players, they can get there...you know? i think it will work well for them, i like the persoanlity match up of the owner and some other coaches and players...i think he is more mellow until he has to not be, and sometimes that approach can work...never know....at least he didnt go to DALLAS!!

The chargers have a fetish with former redskin coaches. What's up with that?

Bad move IMO...Don't see why they even fired Shottenhiemer in the first place...It's not like the chargers have been doing bad the past few seasons...14-2 last season and a playoff loss that shoulda been blamed moreso on the fact that they are a young team without much playoff experience, not the coaching staff...don't see the logic with this one.

Terrible move by San Diego.

I watched Norv run my Raiders into the ground. The guy is the least inspiring individual you can imagine. He just isn't the type of man that will get guys fired up to go out and hit. IMO the good coaches in this league have a presence, a charisma, a certain moxie... and Norv doesn't have it. The players lost respect for him in both D.C. and Oakland, and that is the worst thing that can happen to a head coach.

Marty Schottenheimer was fired over a power struggle. AJ Smith was looking for a lame duck coach that wouldn't question his personnel moves, and that's just what he got. Buyer Beware.

Anybody could have been a successful coordinator in Dallas with the triplets and that offensive line. I guess you could say he did well with Alex Smith, but it's hard to tell. The guy was the #1 overall pick so you know the physical talent was already there, and he only really performed at an average level this year.

As a Raiders fan, I love this move. Norv is good for at least 3 less wins than Schotty, who I wasn't a fan of either.

No way they should have fired Shotty. Despite the massive playoff failure I'd still go with Shotty.

Not sure if anybody watches hockey but they did the same thing with the Sens a few years back. The team rocks, they tank in the playoffs, the coach goes and there are no player changes.

Anyway, I hope the Bolts do better next year, but only because L.T. deserves that ring.

theyd do better with spurrier, im telling you....

alex smith made HUGE progress under turner. as a rookie, he threw 1(1!) TD as opposed to 11 interceptions! that is not the kind of ratio you want. he did improve to a still unimpressing 16 TDs and INTs, but atleast he's even and not under.

I watched every niners game, and Smith's TD/INT ration was kinda flukey in his rookie year.

Yes, he did make a lot of progress, but there's no way to tell if it was due to Norv. QBs almost always are better in their 2nd year than their first anyways....
