Look what I found: Suncourt 2 Speed In Line Duct Fan - 6 in.: Allergy Relief Superstore (http://www.alerg.com/page/A/PROD/air6/AF8066)

I bet one of these could keep a light cool. Maybe also one could do room exhaust and one of the tiny ones could be a nice intake. 300 cfm each ain't bad. It's an interesting alternative to the $150+ vortex/elicents, which are marketed to the "no price is too much" growing industry. Anybody used a fan like this before? Bud Luv is thinking about ordering one or three.

The duct fan has a class "b" motor, anybody know if that's a different/bad thing? I'm pretty sure that it's rated for continuous use, though, so whatever...

i have a very similar fan, its a 250CFM and it really loud, really loud, so loud you can hear it through the duct work in the house as it sits in the basement by the furnace.

Crispis got a pair of the smaler 4in. ones in a c-13 cabinet -n- they work fine . Wouldn't go expecting it to cool a 1000w or anything tho .

i bought a 12v inline blower 250cfm, shit is loud as f-ck, i dont even use it its so loud, i wired up an oversized compfan with a adapter i found for some electronic device its nice and quite now, 100 less cfm but its only the intake.

And Crispi, if one's 600cfm why wouldn't it cool a 1000w? 600cfm is 600cfm, right? Am I missing something? Thanks

I bet the 600cfm rating is w/o any ductwork at all , no bends , no restrictions . the 2 - 4in. ones i have in my c13 cab. hardly do the job , still 80deg. in cabinet w/ only a 250 hps . 1 fan is pulling hot air outa top of cab. -n- 1 is pulling hot air outa the light .
It'd take alot of huntin -n- lookin -n- i'm to high to bother . But most cfm ratings are not taken right at mouth of the blower / device . most are rated at a certain -x- amount of length of duct .
I really don't think they're al that loud though .

Those fans are generally used for duct booster fans in a house, helping the main blower at the furnace do its job - at y junctions and to help flow to the farthest runs in the house.. As soon as you put anything that makes static pressure on it, or try to use it alone in ducting, the flow rate drops dramatically. Like Xcrispi said, hes got 2 and they are barely doing the job. I tried to use a couple of 6" ones for my cooltube (2x400W) and had to return them to the store, didn't hardly do anything.

In the fan world, powerful AND quiet = $$$$$. I found that a good fan is one of the more expensive parts of any setup, but totally worth it in the long run.

yeah I'm leaning away from getting some of these. I completely agree that a good fan is worth the money in the long run, but I'm kinda broke right now, if you know what I mean.
