Pc stealth box grow need advice

Hey everyone. I could use some advice on growing a pc growbox i have already put the computer togethe but i am not sure if its gonna eb big enough. I was thinking of having one plant useing the lowryder strain. Helpful criticism plus comments welcome.

Hmm, very interesting. Seems like a very small space, but for one plant, it may work. I hope you'll keep us posted, I want to see the progress and finished yield. For ventilation, remember the basics. Keep your plant gently moving at least some of the time (all times during daylight is best). Exchange air. Try to keep your light cool. I imagine one tiny fan in and one out somewhere else might do the trick. But try to have the air stream directly blowing over the light somehow on the way out.

The hardest part will be the stealth that you desire. I would not only consider hieght tendencies of the plant, but also potency of scent characteristics. You may be able to design some sort of small carbon scrubber to pass the air flow through. There is a post in the FAQs about how to make your own that might give you some ideas. I'm not sure you can buy anything that small. You are probably aware of this, but when an mj plant flowers it puts off a high level of scent. If you truely want this to be stealthy you must put this high on your priority list. For me to build this, I would think it would be my hardest challenge to do correctly. I guess you'll find out how you did soon after you change the light schedule.

Good luck and keep us posted. I want to see how this progresses. I want to see that computer sitting right out in the middle of the open, where preachers and federal agents consistantly pass by it. Then I'll build one or two.

Maybe you should link to this in the "Challenging growing methods" section. Someone reading there may be interested. It certainly seems like a challange to me.

did u just use the existing power supply the computer had? nice setup tho. ur gonna need more light. go to lowes and get a 100 watt hps for 60 or 70 bucks. and also tinfoil is not the best idea. id suggest u go to ur local wal mart and go to the camping section and purchase an 'emergency mylar blanket'. thatd be a way better reflector. good luck and keep us posted, hope to see lots of pics!!

thanks for all the advice guys. I plan on putting at least one fan in for ventilation i have to figure out how to hook up the fan with power though because i was planning on using a computer case fan. For the smell im not sure what im gonna do yet that will defenitly be a problem. Also two questions would that light im useing work ok or do i just need a different type of bulb. I also need to get seeds. Any of you know a good site to order seeds from ? Do u also know of a good seed type. Thanks

i got a problem i bought a 70 watt hps bulb but i screwed it in and it doestn work with my fixture. I am not sure if it is the buld or the fixture. I plugged in my orginal light and it worked. Whag do you guys think ?

a hps requires a ballast to run it, and probably wouldnt use a hps to begin with would just use the biggest cfl you can cram in there a hps is a good light to use but you really dont have room to use it they get alot hotter than a flouro and require more ventilation plus a greater distance between plants and bulb wich takes up more of what you do not have space.

you might check out this thread as it might help you but its going to be tough to grow in a computer case a scrog would probably work best.

I would suggest putting your light in the top of the cabinet. The way it looks only half the plant will be getting lit up. Mount it horizontally up there. You may have to go and pick up a different socket for your bulb. Man its gonna be tight in there..LOL

First thing..whats with the power supply? Why is it still in the case?

About the light..i just looked at the pic again, I would take out the power supply and get an L shaped bulb socket that will allow you to mount your bulb horizontally and I would get myself the 105W cfl that puts out like 350w. Its only about 3 inches wide

These guys and one other were the only ones out of the 12 or so I considered during my research that would ship to the U.S. I was very happy with their service and they have a huge selection. Descreet and fast. Answered my e-mail within a day. (I don't work for them or anything.)

I don't think I would try to use HID lighting in that little space if you want stealth. The temp. would be a huge problem. You can get weed with fluoros. Normally I am dead set against flouros, but I don't see how you are going to be able to cool that cabinet enough with a fan that is small enough to not make a lot of noise if you use hot lights. I would get about 3 of those compact fluoros that look kinda like incandescants and are equal to about 100 watts each, but take up 24 watts or something. Since you don't have space, you are going to want to keep the lights right next to the plant, and you can't do that with HID lights.

you could definatly get rid of the power supply and mount a fan in its place and you can either use a 12 vdc adapter to power the fan or fans or use the power supply and just extend the wire to the fan and have the power supply out of the case. that will free up alot of room for mounting a bulb up high in the case.

yah ur gonan prolly wanna use a 12v dc adapter like he said. i think u might me able to fit 2x 42w cfls in there which would screw into ur normal household fixture. u dont necissarily have to grow lowryder, ur jus gonna have to top/lst. good luck!

ya i was thinking about what strain i would be useing . I was gonna use lowryder but im not really comfortable ordering online so ill see what i can dig up. Anyway i gotta some work to do o nthis. Im gonna replace the lgiht i got with what trynagethigh suggested nd get an elbow fixture. That should take care of the light factor. All i really have to worry about now is the ventalation and odor.

I added the reflector crap and also got a bigger light. I think its a 200 watt.

looks alot better but doesnt look like a 200 watt cfl the package may say its equivalent to a 200 watt incandescent just curious on what wattage it actually is as you may need a larger one.

not sure about the wattage. There is a 200 on the box though. Light output is 2600 lumens

thats a great idea. I just took everthing out of it but what would i do for lighting ?. I am really unfamiliar with clones. Do they need alot of light ?

The first 3 days give them low light, than gradually increase to full over about a week.

ya i was at first planning on using lowryder but then after researching it more i saw how expensive the seeds were. This is my first grow so i dont really wanna spend that much on seeds. I was thinking of using hashberry and lst it. I dk if i lst it alot would i be able to fit two plants in and start the 12/12 cycle fairly soon. Please let me know what you think of this idea. Thanks
