Hi

Anyone out there have any experience with female / feminized seeds?

What strain was it? What percent turned out to be female? Were there any males or hermies in the bunch? Was the potency of the finised buds at least close to what you would expect from a clone of that same strain? Were you satified with the purchase overall?

I am thinking that using these for an outdoor project could eliminate the time and energy wasted on growing and killing males.

Any thoughts?

thank you
bob

You are on the right track. Killing half your plants in July or August just to keep the last half of the crop from getting ruined sucks. I preach safety, and safety is about putting seedlings out there and then leaving them the fuck alone. Female seeds is a company that clearly sells a higher quality product than dutch passion, there are other companies, more all the time but those two seed breeders are the biggest.

i have grown northerlights and nevil haze hybrid from femaleseeds.nl. I really enjoyed the northerlights, i have grown it both indoors and out. outdoor i wasnt really pleased with as the buds were fluffy and very leafy. indoors i got nice tight dense nugs. killer smoke. Im still growing out the nevil haze so i dont know on the smoke yet but its an easy grow so far.

my friends had 100% females with female seeds, and ive had 100% with my current dutch passion fems, just make sure you temperatures are good, keep stress down as much as you can.

the femaleseeds didnt have 100% germination though, more like about 70%
dps had 100% germ, but they are quite a bit more expensive so...

I was dissapointed with the potency of dutch passion and happy with female seeds. I have also had a problem with the germination rate of female seeds but have since discovered the problem was my own doing. Sativa seeds take a long time to pop and I wasn't patient enough. I store my seeds out in the garage and then warm them at eighty degrees between wet paper towels, once they pop I put them in soil filled cups. Now my germination rate is aconsistant 90 plus percent.

Seed boutique out of england costs one third as much as mark emery did. Alot of people bad mouth emery but that man did a shitload for the cause.
He went down because he bragged he had sold over two million seeds. He should have known better, fame and law breaking don't mix. I was very happy to see seed boutique recently add on some top notch canadian breeders. Just about everything emery had, seed boutique now has and if seed boutique doesn't dr chronic does. England is now the place to order seeds from. Mailing from Canada to the US is just too risky for the internet seed shops.

ooooh just noticed when i harvested 5 plants last night, there were some immature seeds, i only actually saw 1, so the problem isnt bad, but there must have been a male flower in there somwhere.

Female seeds i have grown out from DP have been all female so far. However ive found it can be very easy to Hermie them through stress. One WW plant grew 5-6 male flowers just a week into flowering which i picked off, and it flowered beautifully after that with no more male flowers. At a different time another was over ferted and hermied in week 6, this is more dangerous to your crop as it can be hard to spot. Removed this from room straight away. No more probs.
Some sites will tell you how resistant to hermi/how uniform/how stable etc each breed is. Generally if you dont stress them you will very rarely see a hermie.
In my opinion female seeds are very useful to growers who want to maximize their growing/flowering space, usually on their first couple of grows, without having to throw away males, or waste space. After that, if you have room, i would then move on to regular seeds.
