smoking with water bottles

Is it bad? I don't burn the plastic I take a bowl and cut a hole in the bottle and then inhale through the water bottle. But I only light the bowl I don't light the plastic. Is this bad?

I used to do that quite a bit....

I was told on here that you should never smoke out of water bottles because the smoke interacts with the plastic and releases harmful chemicals.

nope not bad at all, infact alot of home-made gravity bongs use that very idea. just make sure no plastic is burned because it can be very dangerous. Enjoy, btw Try making a gravity bong. Get you ripped right.

This puts some insight to my question that I asked in my bong thread!

I was so confused and it just doesn't make sense how smoke would react with the plastic.

I mean, people on here say it does but, it just doesn't seem practical?

Unless the THC has a chemical reaction with the plastic but other than that, I don't get it.

If more people can give their opinion and offer on how this reaction happens it'll make things clearer.

well I have a homemade Gravity bong that uses a Gatorade bottle and a metal bowl that I bought. Absolutly 100% known to me that no plastic gets burned. I'm pretty sure that if there was a natural reaction to it or poisoness smoke and what not I would have felt the effects of it after a year of taking hits from this grav bong. I do track at school and my lungs work fine lol. so yeah.

So imo I dunno what the whole plastic is dangerous thing is about anyway.

I don't think its bad i've done it alot of times. I don't think the smoke burns the plastic. Wouldn't the smoke taste different if the plastic was burning? It never tasted much different to me so i don't think it affects you. But i've only done it when i was desperate and had nothing else to smoke out of so only a couple times. But if your gonna smoke out of the water bottle just make sure the platic is not burning in anyway :thumbsup:

because in my situation everything is going to have to be disposable; my mom is hardcore.

well, scratch that, i've done it out of my friend ceramic pipe.

it doesn't taste any different unless you are doing a bong.
but that's cause the water makes the smoke fresh in my opinion.

Well if anyone can prove its infact dangerous I propose that something get stickyed to prevent people from using plastic bottles and such but I havn't had a problem in 2 years of smoking so I dunno.

when i do it though it dosnt look like the plastic melted off of it so idkwhy it would be a problem

No, they say like the smoke reacts with the plastic in the bottle and makes a poisonous fume but i'm not sure if it's just some rumor or what.

I would like to propose that sticky as well,
because if it is infact harmful I want to notify my friends about it.

I have a lot of people that use plastic bottles.

Please, if anyone can give insight on how it really happens, i'll gladly consider it.

But I don't want to hurt my self with poisonous fumes, so i'm not going to do it until more people say something.

yeah, I almost always use a makeshift bong made of something plastic... I like em for smoking tobacco mostly, since the water makes it so much smoother. I also like a gravity bong made from a gallon milk jug. works great for me, and I've never noticed a plasticky taste, which if it's there it's VERY obvious, and if you can't taste it I think your fine
