I love my grandmothers house, shes always baking something. And her house is beautiful with plants everywhere from her garden. In christmas she lights the fire. I remember when I was shorter roasting marshmellows there wraped in a blanket with my cousin. Then we'de fall asleep and wake up on our beds. Go into the kitchen and find shes cooking breakfast fit for kings! When we finished play in the snow or go to the part and sled...we usually used our imaginations. I miss those days :( exept i was sober back then.

well...
Hmmm, I think that way 50% of the time, but I guess decorating the tree is my favorite part of Christmas. We don't decorate ours until Christmas Eve and we pick out our tree and cut our own bows (I'm not sure how to spell bows) from the woods past our hay fields. We're so country-bumpkin. :o Anway, my dealer gave me birthday presents today...which I think is cool....which has nothing to do with the topic but anyway.

I'm completely with you. Down with gift giving holidays, up with feast holidays like Thanksgiving.

I am so over commercialism. Down with it all! After Thanksgiving dinner, while the kids we playing, the adults sat around the dining room table discussing future holidays. She that maybe instead of exchanging gifts one Christmas, we all take a cruise instead? I almost spit out my wine! She said that with what she spends on Christmas gift giving she could easily spend on a cruise. What the fuck is she talking about? Who spends $5,000 on presents?!! Even if I could afford it, I would never, ever waste that kind of money. I just think that is rediculous! I'm not religious, but I don't believe Christmas is about the mall or a Plasma tv. I like the idea of friends and family and holiday traditions. I like a mother and her children baking Christmas cookies and a family going outside and getting their tree. If it wasn't for my kids, I would be happy with a material giftless Christmas.

I enjoy Christmas...

But it's a religious festival...

And I don't like Religion....

So I don't know how I really feel about Christmas....

Thats why I get really drunk and high, so I don't have to think about it :)

oh no :(

I just remembered.. I recently stopped eating meat.. No christmas Turkey or Chicken or Lamb for me this year.. :(:(:(:(:(:(

I'm with Mary on this one but I'm not gonna be a miserable bastard and spoil it for everyone else.

I do enjoy the sprit of christmas even though I'm not religious. I guess Christmas is all about getting together and having a great time.

I think Christmas died for me when I found out that Father Christmas didn't exist.:D

I love Christmas morning, the smells of cooking, kids playing all excited, wrapping up warm and taking the whole family (including dogs :) ) to listen to the carol singers in the market square :)

But my favourite part is after dinner infront of the fire, when everyone's sprawled out watching The Wizard of Oz or something similar - fed, content and happy - rushing and panicing over for another 12months ;)

Being together with my extended family. There's just this inexplicable sense of excitement in the air, even though I get less excited every year, I still feel it. How, if only for 24 hours, we can find some kind of peace within our lives, some contentment and closure on the past year. Just the general mood most people are in, well those who are celebrating Christmas for the right reasons. I feel a stronger connection with my fellow man, probably from all the positive vibes saturating the air. I can feel it, I swear!
