Hello from down under people

Me and my mate recently went halfs on a nft system and have set it up in his shed we got sum cutting last night and they are all in there getting ready to preoduce us some nice big buds hopefully, the question i have is about the water pump, at the moment we just have it running 24/7 its a pretty small water pump, ive been told i only need to run it for afew minutes every hour, wot do i do? can i just leave it running constantly? i'd rather do that so i dont have to mess around with another timer....

I'm no expert im still on my first grow myself, go check my grow log out, i have my pump on 24/7 and had no problem, the plants only take/ use as much water as they need so imo it does them no harm.
What strain are you using and how much space do you have, as this is my only problem so far. hope this helped you and good luck with the grow.

Peace out

You need your pump on all the time in nft...that is the point. nutrient "film" technique. now You might be able to cut off the pumps intermittently during the dark photoperiod. Read Read Read.

I am new to growing myself with NFT and have been feverishly searching for info (and there is some great stuff here) All info says run pump constantly 24/7 as the cost is low and excess drains away plant takes what it needs and wants as mix passes roots, and roots should never be left dry for too long. Hope this helps

thats right you need your pump on 24\7.golden rules make sure your ph is right at all times and introduce your nutes slowley and build up,your plants will then tell you everything you need to now.as long as you keep your ph right you really cant go wrong.good luck.

that is great advice. I recommend using a buffered line of nutrients also.

General Hydroponics, Or; 'organic' Pure Blend Pro. both work very well for a Base nutrient. Good Luck, Peace

Mother that thing and fill your grow all the way up. Don't waste it. You could have one or take a little time and have many grows from her. Mothers love lots of kids. LOL
Keep us up on what happens, mate. Good luck.

Good point LOc.

If you plant that in a one gallon Pot, and veg it for a month....you can take clones...every couple of weeks or so, ands root veg transfer, into a perpetual grow...Goodluck!

A question can I grow it to a good size for clones in my system and take 4 clones to grow and remove it to a pot to have as a mother for later or is it better to grow it takes some cuttings and use one of them as a mother??

put that in a pot now. Like I said above. then veg it for a month. After that you can take 2-3 clones a week or whenever you like...just not too many, too often. You want to keep the mother from getting too big and unruly...Trust me on this one.

chack ya later.-

p.s. I usually don't make soil recommendations, but the new Miracle gro-"Organic Choice" mixed with hyponex sterile $ soil, and perlite is what I am using for my MOMs. They are looking "fine"
