Would it be ok to top AK48? Might just do one to see if the plant reacts well.

You can top any plant with minimal shock if done as soon as the new growth has shown itself. Use a very sharp pointed pair of scissors. The cleaner the cut the quicker it will bounce back.Topping is not just the top of the plant,it's any bud site.If you wait too long to top a plant, such as a sativa. You will want to take a chainsaw to it later. It's all in the way you do it,whether or not they recover. The best time to top or trim anything off a plant is after you have watered. It works for me.With a little TLC anyone can top any plant. If a plant does'nt top well? Then what are you gonna do when it comes time to take cuttings? Plant from seed?

Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day! Teach a man to fish you feed him for life!

Sit him down for a meal of fish first because he's starving, then teach him to fish and you'll feed a life time friend!

I have experience with many diff Blueberries. They really do enjoy being topped. I have Blue Ice and I just topped it, and you should take the advice above about clean, fast, percise cutting tactics.

Don't ever top a LowRyder or other autoflower as one member noted.
When you top any strain, you have to wait for it to recover before flowering.
How well she recovers, into what sort of plant, and how long it takes are all strain dependent.
A branchy leggy plant is easy to deal with after topping, because you can bend the new growth any which way. Blueberry is nice for that.
A real squatter is not so much fun to top. Fat, stocky indicas that set really short internodes and never grow very tall will be harder to keep a reasonable shape- meaning giving some air flow through the plant- and will take longer to give enough branch length to bend or train. You may have to stretch them artificially by raising the lights when new growth appears.
For example, I always top my Power Plants, OGKush, Toxic Lemon, and FoxyFuel, and never top my SourBubble, Blockhead, Bogglegum, or Black Indica.

Not to hijack a thread, but how many strains to you keep at any given time Stinky? and of those, how many to you flower regularly?

At the moment I'm runing 35 strains, keeping 50 mothers in stock, and about to acquire some new strains in the next month (Massachusetts Super Skunk, Hindu Kush, Donkey Dick, some landrace Afghani, a different SourBubble pheno from the one I've got, Bogglegum, Hawaiian Big Bud, BlueMoonRocks, and Sapphire). That doesn't count the seed stock I've got.
I flower out mothers as they get too large to comfortably keep in their homes, which are 6" deep square pots. So when they show first signs of rootbound, I take a final round of cuts, stuff the mom in a 3 gallon pot, let her recover, and toss her in the torture chamber (my flower room runs awfully hot).
I'm in the preservation and consulting business. It's a mess. Don't even ask, lol. I do more running around than a suburban soccer mom with 4 kids and a career. I just took a vacation from my 40+ hour a week job because I was getting overwhelmed and needed to re-organize my genetics collection and take like a zillion cuttings. Ugh.

Hey Stinky, What's the best way to keep seeds? What's the longest you've kept a mother? I once had a Black Domina for close to 4 years. Then she developed crown rot almost overnight and I couldn't save her.

I try to refresh my mothers every few months for exactly that reason. I lost my Sweet Tooth mom to rot that girdled the base of the stem and death followed within a matter of days. So I just take a bunch of cuttings when it's time to refresh them, and choose the most vigorous and branchy 2-4 to pot up as moms, and then pick the strongest pair later.
I keep my seeds in a cool, dark place in airtight vials.

If the seeds are fept in airtite viles while they keep forever? Stinky, you may be of some help...I posted on sea of green question and no responses. Also why does my reputation say disabled? Thanks man.

Get a clue. Topping and LST are done all the time, and with very successful results.

Yes you can top your AK-48. I top my AK-47 all the time, and yours is what, just one higher? It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you are going for huge colas, then don't top, in fact cut off all your branches except 4 and you will get 4 huge colas. If you are going for yield, LST or top, preferably with a screen. If you don't have much space vertically than top to keep the plants shorter and bushier.
