BAGHDAD, Iraq - The Iraqi government formally launched a long-awaited security crackdown in Baghdad on Wednesday, with U.S. and Iraqi troops stepping up patrols, establishing new checkpoints and randomly searching cars to stop the violence in the capital. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said the sweep, code-named Operation Imposing Law, would target those "who want to continue with rebellion."
The U.S. military announced last week that the clampdown had already begun, but Iraqis had seen little evidence of that before Wednesday. President Bush has committed 21,500 more Americans to the operation, which is expected to involve a total of 90,000 Iraqi and U.S. soldiers.

Hmm, we have difficulty in this country closing off the boarder with Canada and Mexico. How we are suddenly gonna be able to pull it off out of the blue is beyond me.

BIG difference, over there we can pump some 50 cal. at them till they either drop or get their asses back.
Before, Bagdad offenses were lead by the U.S. forces, this time it's a 3:1 margine of Iraqi to U.S. not to mention that there will be 37 new outposts created in troubled areas. One brick at a time.......

Have good one!:jointsmile:Seems unlikely the bagdad PD will be able to do what the marines could not. I know a few marines. Some gung ho dumb fucks, but they're damn good at what they do. And why don't I think this is the last bagdad offensive we'll be discussing. Hate do admit it, but The Dick had this one right from the start, it is indeed a quagmire

This is the Iraqi military........not the police departments. They have two divisions coming in from the Kurdish area also....these troops hold no ties to Sunni or Shiite rebels.
Quagmire.........LOL

The only bricks involved in this action are the ones in the heads of our leaders!
