Switching photoperiod hours..

Well, I'm going for three this time, two beans have popped, have been put in jiffy pellets. One sprouted overnight..other one is in jiffy pellet in bucket #2. Remaining bean still hasn't popped yet...but they have came from fresh buds and are good seeds. Been nearly five days since I put it in towel in bag..still has yet to pop open..should I go ahead and put it in a jiffy pellet and hope for the best? Or by it taking this long does that mean it probably won't sprout?

Onto question about photoperiod..it's been suggested to me by a few people to wait until plants have a couple few sets of leaflets to power up 250HPS. So until then, each one's got a 26w 6500k CFL on them @ 24/0. When they've grown just a bit and I turn 250 on...I'm going to run it at 18/6...is the six hours of dark enough to be light stress...and would 6500k to the orange/red spectrum of HPS cause any stress?

If I were you,I'd veg them under the cfl's till they got 3-4 nodes. Then you would be safe to turn on the 250 with proper ventilation.Keep in mind that the closer you are able to keep the light,the more dense the final bud will be. It will keep them from stretchin',too. As for the colors you mentioned,the red,orange and so forth. I use a 400 HPS for veg and now 600 HPS for flowering.HPS from start to finish! Grow On!

Ul be fine with a red spectrum light for veg its just not ideal. You Might find the plant becomes slightly less bushy but only by a negligible amount! :)

I started mine from sprout to the pic you see with a 400W MH just make sure your 250 is about 3 ft above.

Is it going to cause stress when I change from 24/0 with CFLs to 18/6 HPS? after a week or so maybe

I've had bean in towel in baggie for nearly five days now, and it still hasn't sprouted..should I expect it to do so shortly, or is it not likely that it's going to sprout? Seeds are fresh..too many more days without this one doing anything though and my plants are going to be a bit further apart than I would like them to be..especially if this one's a dud and I have to wait another couple of days to get one to pop.

Godbud, I feel comfortable having light within 8-10 inches...can't feel heat on hand from that far away. Something that is going to concern me..is it easy to have light that is too intense for a small seedling?

Instead of 18/6 give 20/4 a try through out veg cycle. Then a week before you switch to flower take it down to 17/7. Then go to 12/12 to flower. If you are going to follow the cycle of life growing technique that works very well. The environment in the 3rd to 4th week of vegetation is when the sex is determined by the plant so control your total environment for that period very closely and you will have a better change of producing girls.

Still waiting on last bean to germ...one more day will make an entire week and I think if nothing by tomorrow night I'll toss that one out and germ another one I have...was hoping plants would be at same point..but oh well.

Other two have broke the soil. The one that came up this morning hasn't made it's way out of shell yet...not a bad sign is it?

Seeds are feminised...with using feminised seeds I know it isn't guaranteed fem, but..last two grows I've had shitty genetics and also ended up with hermies...a grateful person noticed that though on these boards and offered to help me with a few seeds...

I put my babes under 24/0 and when they got 4-5 nodes I put them into 18/6 and they look great even though they are under CFL's I'm assuming your photoperiods the way you're talking about setting them up will be fine.
