I am severly pissed off.

I live in a country that it so taxed, that I cannot afford to go to work.
It sounds bizarre, doesn't it?
But, when I look at the amount of money that is taken from me in the form of taxes, it is no wonder. It costs me nearly £60 a week in petrol alone, add to that the ridiculous council tax that is imposed upon me, the maintentence required of me to support my kids, income tax, VAT, tax tax tax tax tax....
Of the amount that I earn a month, my disposable income is less than £10!!!

I checked my bank account this morning, and discovered that I have absolutely no money what-so-ever.
My ex-wife will be here later (to drop the kids off) and she will be asking why her money has not been paid into her account this week. She will also be asking why I haven't sorted out other debt repayments (most of which were incurred by her, I might add).
I am running around in a car that has no MOT, because I can't even afford the test cost, let alone anything that might need to be 'fixed'. And cannot afford to put petrol in it to go to work.

i live like a fucking hermit, as it is, and the bank would ask if I can "cut back on any expenditure..."...stupid assholes, how can one cut back on the non-existent?

I long to live in a society that rewards success, rather than penalise me for other peoples lack thereof - ie, I pay for lazy assholes who can't be bothered to go to work.

I can survive for one more week, then I guess I will become a bum lol
Sure gives my kids something to aspire to.

Fuck the establishment, fuck the government, and fuck living in this constant misery of struggling to provide myself with the mere basics.
Like, I don't want much...but it seems that even that is denied me..FFS!

 mad as fuck!!!

Ya it sucks. We go to work and some of the money WE worked for goes to money to who people who dont work and are to lazy to find one. Other money goes to taxes that goes to god knows where. I also hate Tollways. Pay 50 or so cents every couple of miles.

And those religious folk would vow that God helps those who helps themselves!!!

God hasn't got a fucking clue.
At every turn, everything that I try to do to make a better life for myself is met with obstacle and hardship.
Why?
Why can someone like me, not necessarily an angel, but an essentially good person, have to face this adversity time after time after time?

Life...........Fucking pointless....
Being good.....fucking useless....
Caring about others.....waste of fucking time.......
Trying to do the right thing.....lmfaooo...payback is suffering

I want to go to sleep now...waking hours brings to much misery.

I hear what you're saying Cleve, but sometimes decisions are not ours to make...
What price survival?
Why does emotional contentment always seem to take second place?

Surely, life is about forfillment and enlightenment, pleasure and experience, learning and teaching...instead of which, it seems to be more about treading on our fellow man to reach the top of some imaginary mountain, of which the only beneficiary seems to be the one who has used his fellow man as footholds and steps.

We have forgotten what the meaning of life is, and wrongly assume that it is about 'survival of the fittest'.

There are those who genuinely need our help and encouragement - but there are also those who prey upon the system for their own selfish gain and prosperity...

We have forgotten what the meaning of life is, and wrongly assume that it is about 'survival of the fittest'.

There are those who genuinely need our help and encouragement - but there are also those who prey upon the system for their own selfish gain and prosperity...I agree in that aspect. Life of course should be about happiness and living symbiotically with your fellow humans. However, the reality of life is that people are not symbiotic, and will most likely crush other human spirits for their own gain.
That very idea sometimes upsets me, especially when I am the victim, but I refuse to let it get me down. Life is all in how you look at it. Sure, shitty things happen to people all the time. It's a fact of life. Nothing we do will ever change that. But how we handle that constant, is what makes our life the way it is.
I've been there. When I lived in Philadelphia, I was unemployed, broke, and near-starving. But I made it. I did whatever it took to get me out of the hole. Took some time and endured some real suffering... Now... I'm doin great. I never lost sight of the fact that I can manipulate my life if I truly want to.

Why is everyone always bitching about taxes? Everywhere taxes. Where do you think the government gets money to spend on your healthcare, the roads you use, the police to stop you being killed, the schools for your children?

People seem to think that tax happens for no reason, and the government can just spend whatever it wants on whatever it wants, regardless of how much tax money they get.

Again, you speak words that I hear, Cleve :)
I guess that I'm growing tired of climbing out of holes - especially when I see people who are 'less deserving' than I.

I have been lower than this, and I am not so stupid as to think that there are not people 'below' me...I feel bitter, because I don't want much, you know?..and I can't even have that.

I work (when there is work), I am curteous and respectful, I try to be a good father to my children, I pay my way and adhere to the laws of the land.
I just feel that the 'land' is taking more than its fair share (ie, gov.) and not redistributing the wealth properly.
I see scum that rape the system for all they can get, and contribute nothing in return.
I see the government squander money on useless things (£8million on a leaflet to tell us what to do in the event of a terrorist attack..FFS!), and are unmindful of the majority need.
And in all of it, I (along with many others) are forced to work longer and harder hours to provide the minimal basics.

In the UK, success is frowned upon - fact.
We seem to have been indoctrinated with the need to destroy the reputation of those who have succeeded - we only have to open the newspapers each day to see evidence of it.
It makes me sick.

Yeah, this has come about because I have £4 to survive on...I'm not joking...and it is because of taxation that I find myself in this situation.
I usually bring home £350+ a week....and it is not enough to live on - how the fuck can 1 man NOT survive on that kind of money?
Forget the pension - can't afford it.
Forget saving for my kids higher education - I cant afford that either.
My earnings just cover my basic living expenses...and I'm on a 'good wage' in comparison to others.

I don't drink, don't socialise, don't do anything except go to work - blah blah blah

You obviously don't live in the UK, Kombucha lol

If you do...then you are blind, my friend...

The police force is at its lowest ever.
Schools are mostly privately funded, or at least subsidised by companies.
The health system here is a fucking joke.
The road systems are grossly undermaintained (even though the gov rake in over £40BILLION a year in car-tax alone...let alone the 98% tax levy on fuel)
They spout off ridiculous unemployment figures that suggest that it is at it's lowest ever...bollocks, when you consider that the level of people who are classed as 'medically unable to work' is ALSO at its highest, and that the drive to get people into further education is such that it enables the gov. to further manipulate figures!

More and more UK founded companies are shipping their businesses overseas - why?..because it's cheaper!

This government is destroying this country, both on an economical and social level.
And people here just adopt a 'well, thats the way it is' mentality, instead of asking the question.

Agree totally with Resinate, I too live in the UK, I too, work full time, I too live like a flaming hermit.

Fortunately, I'm not in as dire straits as Res here...
Here's my budget:
Payday ::: £800
Mortgage: -£500 (but increasing as intrests rates are fluctuating) started on £450.
Council tax : -£100
TV license: -£8
Bills: -£75
Food:-£90

£800-$774 = £26 a month to live on after bills.
Not being funny, when I was born and raised, I like everyone, didn't dislike anyone because of beliefs / situation etc etc.
However, now, people come over to england, claiming this, that and the other.
They are GIVEN, houses, food, clothes and generally have more luxuries than me, oh and btw I DO KNOW this, for a FACT as at one point in my school-life I was friends with 2 illegal immigrants who were granted asylum and we were so close we went to each others houses and they were better off than me and I hardly lived in "the ghetto"

As an example of taxes, we have speed cameras, affectionately known as "gatso's", There are now THOUSANDS OF THESE, in the UK, one in london in 6 months, has made £750,000. Thats more than $1 million USD, for ONE camera.
UK prices are ridiculous, and what's more ridiculous as seeing as I live in the capital, I should theoretically make more money to provide for my living area due to high prices + living accomodations. Bollocks does that happen, where I am currently working it's a company, so regardless of where you live, the wage tiers are the same.
I just applied for a new job paying £20k a year, after taxes on this, I'll make about 17k as 15% goes to National insurance and other GREAT (intense sarcasm) government schemes.
If health care was private, and I could "opt out" of this great NHS we have, especially seeing as more people die in hospital of MRSA than of actual illnesses nowadays.
Plus the fact that I wouldn't be losing 10% a month due to it, means I would save thousands of pounds. Yes I'm aware I could be hit by a truck or something, but rather than wait 30 minutes for an ambulance, taken to hospital, get an infection and lose a leg or something.
I'd rather go private and pay big bucks seeing as I've saved cash by opting out of the NHS.
There's more, but I'll do a second post seeing as I'm thirsty.

hehe..nice, Mole.

I don't mind paying taxes, as long as they go towards making our country a better place to live.
however, as you know, that is hardly the case.
It seems that taxes are going up, and standard of living (for those that contribute) are going down.
And about the Gatso's...lmfaoo..a safety measure, aren't they?

I never DID understand how the law can be enforced on something like 'speeding', after the fact!!!!

People spend more time looking at their speedometer than they do at the road ahead = more accidents, surely?

And you're absolutely right about the state of our hospitals..geez, there was a time when the UK was considered the pinacle of medical science and treatment...lol
...
30mins for an ambulance!!!...oh yeah, I forgot - with you living in London, I guess that the hospital is only 5mins away lol...it would be quicker to crawl there :D

Yes, carry on, dude....

Mole2k4
12-04-2004, 01:43 AM
Better law enforcement due to taxes? Don't make me fucking laugh!
I haven't seen a bobby on the beat in 6 months! Since I moved, I was renting a place for £650 a month, and only saw police there, because there was 3 schools around the place, they didnt fight each other or anything, they just kinda mooched about, and so this warrented police control. Good job the police were watching those kids, rather than out and about where all these fucking real criminals are.
Also, the biggest cash in phrase in this country is currently "RACISM" trust me, the amount of africans/blacks/chinese/ ethnic minorities etc use it is a joke.
What's even more funny is, those "ethnic minorities" outweigh "white" people, it's a fucking joke.
Here's a great example of things:::
Stephen Lawrence, I admit, a terrible thing to happen, basically a black kid was killed by a bunch of white kids, the outcome : A racist attack.
Last week, 4 white guys were on the bus, making a racket, a black guy turned round and had a go, because they woke him up, 3 of the white guys leave, the black guy then douses the remaining white guy in the face with petrol fluid and ignites his face and then leaves the bus. Outcome: A random attack,

Now obviously, these examples are very different from each other, but, 4 white guys attack a black guy = racism, 1 black guy scars a white guy for life = random attack.
Here's another great example, one that at one point happened to me:
jacked by 4 black guys = one of those things.
a chinese friend of mine got jacked by 2 turks = one of those things
a black mate of mine got jacked by a "gang" of white guys, = a racist attack.

I'll post some more in a min, but I still havent had that water.

And about the Gatso's...lmfaoo..a safety measure, aren't they?

I never DID understand how the law can be enforced on something like 'speeding', after the fact!!!!
.

Not to mention the fact that:
Gatso's can tell when someone is speeding,
However, if they are under the speed limit, but absolutely bladdered and swerving all over the road, the gatso can't tell, if people have no road tax, the gatso can't tell, there are so many more circumstances to go on about that gatso's cant do.

Yes, unfortunately, 'Political Correctness' is causing more racial tension than it is supposed to stop.
And most of the ethnic minority would agree.
The media is responsible for stirring up such feelings, by highlighting the very stories that you speak about, Mole.
Whilst the problem of racial abuse SHOULD be tackled, I feel that the PC Brigade are counter-productive.
I hate racist folk - their ideas are so archaic and ignorant.
We are all human, and that's all that matters.
(some are less human than others, but they come from all walks of life, init)

Hey Res.... Sorry to hear about your plight, it stinks when good people who are willing to work and contritbute to society are unable to amke enough money to live decently. Canada is very much becoming the same way, especially Quebec. In this province, we are practically the highest taxed jurisdiction in North America, and probably very close to number 1 in the world. What a distinction. Ironically, when you drive here from elsewhere, say Ontario or the USA, you don't really need a sign to tell you you're entering Quebec, the roads just get magically bumpy and all around crappy.

And I heard how Political correctness is rampant over in the UK. I heard a story recently (tell me if I'm wrong) where a company posted an ad for a job opening, writing in the ad that they only want hard-working people to apply. Someone actually complained that the company was discriminating against slackers and lazy people... and they won the case

I think that the idea of taxation isnt a bad one for a society, ie everyone sharing the costs of services that are needed, or that better the society as a whole. makes sense to me. so we should have food for the hungry...healthcare... transportation ...education... right? sure there are other things, but that covers basic human needs. our schools are under funded?!! why? Oh yeah budget cuts. Its a good thing we were able to take that money from the schools and use it on really important stuff like 40 million to advertise the newest version of paper money, oh and the undisclosed ammount the fcc is spending on HDTV????? cause we really need more less educated people with cash and HDTV.
