View Full Version : Need...more....zoom *Post yer Macros!*

So I was playing around with my tripod, and backlighting, and this is the closest my little digi can get. It's way closer than I can get with a flash, because the actual camera body blocks the flash when that close up. Not bad but I want MORE. So I'm calling all you shooters out...
So post 'em up! The closest closeup you can get on a bud, leaf, seed -any stage/part of the wonderful cannabis plant - using any enhancements/lens your camera can support. NO microscopes!!! Any camera lens only. In focus only PLZ. Cropping a HUGE pix for detail is fine, even encouraged. Remember the forum file size limits, JPGs under 2 megs only. Wanna get artistic with sepia tones or B&W or something go for it. Did I say NO MICROSCOPE PICS???!!
If you are really proud of your shot, then post yer camera model/megapixels and any tips you want to pass along to fellow shooters - along with the strain name. You SLR guys should pwn this thread - I wanna see some fire!
PS Nikon Coolpix 5900, macro mode, no flash, ISO 400, +0.3 exposure compensation, white balance set to shade - Indoor under incandescent, back/sidelit by a halogen spotlight

Nice pics, guys...
I want one of those external flash thingies...maybe even with the umbrella hood. Damn crappy built-in flashes w/close-ups...I hear ya.
I'll be back shortly...
Oh and by the way HERE (http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-growing/93751-macro-what-calyx-pic.html) is my MACRO Calyx thread...
Look up there ^ for some macro pics. :D:D

This is afrom a season ago, when it was a more experimental stage. The plant pictured was a clone of what was a good mother. Eventually, that mother turned hermie, and so did all of the clones I made of shim, tis a shame.

Not really much to show off, as the plant still have more than a month to go. SUPER skunky bag seed, barely starting to "sweat"

Here's one from my homegrown..damn this was some great bud!
That looks really good. Nothing better than sun ripened sensi. Most outdoor that flows through here is outdoor, but it was done on such a large scale, that mots of the time it's seeded.
Either way, that plant looks great! :)

Not too shabby for 2MP... thats part of the reason I made this thread, kind of for camera reviews too. Well that and to have a D-SLR guy convince me to change over :P

Not much of a close up for me, I am still trying to master the art of taking pictures of herb. Because this is my first time growing, I've concentrated on growing it first, mastering that, and THEN learning how to take real good pictures. This is Sour Diesel 8 weeks in.
Fucking sweet ass pictures folks! Keep em coming

First pic is from the plant I chose to clone, until I buy some actual strains. 2nd pic is it's sister, came from same bagseed batch, just has very "fluffy" buds, no mass to them, but it's putting out more thrichomes than the other. Third pic's just kind of cool I thought. A little silihoutte with thrichomes poking out of the sides. 2 weeks left on both of them...sigh. I expected more yieldiness.

These are some bomb pics, whenever I try to get pics the camera wont focus on the bud. Anyone got some tips on how to get my camera to focus in? I got a Kodak Easyshare C533 with 5 megapixles (its my mom's cam, mine was stolen by a heroin addict, I wouldnt be caught dead buying a Kodak). But tips would be appreciated cause I cant get much better than this pic.

Macro mode, or Super macro mode. There should be mention of of in the instruction manual, or there will be a flower icon either physicaly printed beside a button on the camera, or in the camera's menu system. On my camera, you push the flower button once, and you're in macro mode, hold for 2-3 seconds, super macro mode. Can't zoom while in supermacro, as it's for extreme closeups.

also put your bud on a book or somethen and put the camera down on somethen to make it steady.....when takin so close ups you cant hold it with your hand....or atleast i cant lol....also try to take the picture by a window wheres theres sun light.....the sun is the best sourse of light for pictures.....i take my pics on a book where i can put the camera right by the bud...you might have to elevate(raise) the bud to get the bud in the middle of the picture....
