Zandor's feminized seed technique

I recently read Zandor's FAQ on feminized seeds and was wondering if a few things could be clarified.

When growing the first crop an extra 10-14 days, do you flush for that extra time in addition to the regular flush, or wait until the final (extra) days to flush?

Also, will the extra days over ripen the first crop past the point of functionality? Can the buds be removed at peak harvest time but some leaves and stem left to grow the male bananas?
