Cameron hint on cannabis medicine
Trials are continuing on medicinal use of cannabis
Conservative leader David Cameron says he would be "relaxed" about legalising cannabis for medicinal use if there were evidence of its health benefits.
In response to a question posted on his internet site, he said he would be "guided by the science and evidence".
Mr Cameron said he opposed making cannabis legal but added: "If it could be proved there was a real medicinal benefit I would be relaxed by that."
Mr Cameron made clear he did not favour legalising the drug's recreational use.
He said: "It is right that it's criminal because if you decriminalise you increase the availability and make it more difficult for parents who are trying to keep their children away from drugs."
Trials have been taking place on the medicinal use of cannabis-based drugs. Sativex, a cannabis-derived mouth-spray, is licensed in Canada to relieve pain in people with multiple sclerosis.

Too bad he doesn't notice that if they legalized for recreational use, it would take it off of the streets and put it into stores where you would be ID'ed if you wished to purchase any cannabis.

once again they hide behind that puling phrase. parents try to keep their children away from speeding trains too, but i don't see anyone calling for the railroads to be dismantled.
some may see statements like this to be a step forward toward legalization. i see it only as another road opened toward stricter control. control not just by government, but by pharmaceutical companies and the various medical interests. just like the push for legalized hemp production, it is another blind alley in the constant quest to regain some small piece of our personal freedoms.
It was also exposed in the last few days that Cameron smoked cannabis in Eton in the early 1980's, and was punished for it. He hasnt admitted it directly, but he said he will not deny anything.
I belive he DOES think cannabis should be legal, but i think he's stopping himself from saying because of the obvious.

yeh, to come out and say cannabis is ok, would be suicide for a polititan.
the most positive stance is to encorage and follow the scientific studies, no one can argue against that

thats crap!
his saying that because he thinks he will get votes and because he already realises that the lib dems have a much nicer cannabis policy if they get elected conservatives had a very strict one saying they dont like the fact that it became b but than relaised that lib dems are gainig favour from us he stepped down a notch to say oh we might make it legal if there is benefits, whatever scientific study he does will say the same thing as others before but he will say thats not enough evidence and will dismiss this whole thing (if he gets elected) than he would have won and will keep us quiet until nexty election where he will come out with more crap...
i aint sure if what i said above is correct but i do believe its hte lib dems we want in seriously i will make sure and post back here :P
^ Sadly, the lib dems wont be in power for many years, if at all.
