so, this sorta hit me today in us politics. do you think that people in the government toke up? not like high profile people like senators or presidents or whatever, but you know, the bureaucratic middle government jobs. The ones that work in the state building.
They have to be boring jobs. maybe every night after work they wanna take a load off and light up a fatty. think they do?

Everyone smokes all the way up the ladder. The only reason they keep it illegal is because they cannot regulate and tax it.

CNN.com - Author: I should give tapes to Bush - Feb 21, 2005 (http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/02/21/bush.tapes/)

Bush says he "wouldn't answer the marijuana question ... 'cause I don't want some little kid doing what I tried."

"But you gotta understand, I want to be president, I want to lead. I want to set -- Do you want your little kid to say, 'Hey daddy, President Bush tried marijuana, I think I will?' " he said.

In the UK we have a party that approves of smoking weed. Most, if not all of the party members smoke it. If this is the case in the UK then I'm pretty sure it happens in the US due to it's size.

I am sure politicians use drugs, haven't you heard about scandals were politicians are using meth and stuff. They can get away with it so easily because they say it is unconstitutional to drug test a politician. They do drugs, they get away with it, then they turn around and increase the penalties for users most of who are probobly poor and hispanic/black. Not to be racist but the drug was is run by a bunch of white males and the majority of people the drug war is effecting is those in the inner-cities.

I love it how they say it is unconstitutional to drug test politicians yet many are pushing for drug testing in high schools when a lot of drug experimenting goes on, which of course the politicians know because they were lightin up joints in the boy's bathroom when they were in school and if they had to be drug tested they would protest.

I know a lady that is the head of housing that could probably smoke most of us under the table. There are tokers in most all aspects of the job market.

Have a good one!

Yea, I use to work for a government contractor, till the client revoked my clearance, and got suspended without pay by my company. In my current situation, health insurance is important, and I'm thankful they kept me on this long.

I knew a few that I thought would blaze, but I never asked. The job maybe boring as hell, but the atmosphere is so relaxed, barely any pressure, infact when I got projects accomplished, they'd tell me to work slower. That's the government way!

Because of how relaxed it is, it makes you kinda crazy, so when I got home, I got blazed as hell, went out and partied. That was my undoing.

Definitely, they do.

My father? Ex-police officer (he quit and became an editor of a local paper when I was born), currently a lawyer. Most people that know him well suspect he does cocaine. I do not have any firsthand knowledge of whether or not he does (ie, I've never actually seen him take it), but I am reasonably assured of the fact that he uses it. I ALSO know that every single day he helps put people away for smaller things like using marijuana (a plant which should be legal and has not been proven to have detrimental societal effects.) My dad, who cheated on my mom, has committed numerous state and federal felonies, faked his own death and was presumed dead for two years until early 07..... he is the one who is given the power to decide if these people get put away for years for doing much better than most of the stuff he's done. The things he did hurt people, and marijuana users are not hurting anyone. I simply don't see how he can in good conscience put people away for doing much less than what he's gotten away with since he's a lawyer.

My mother is a probation officer. She openly has admitted to me that she smoked small amounts of marijuana when she was in college and before she had my younger brother. She is currently a vicodin addict and has been for years.

My point is that just because you're part of the system, that does not automatically mean you follow the laws. The year I was fifteen (just back in early 05), I had three different judges pour me a glass or more of alcohol, openly knowing that I'm not of the legal drinking age for my state. Did anyone in law enforcement know about it? Yep, all three times, we were at a party specifically for the swearing in of court personnel, and we were literally in an open living room filled with peace officers who knew I was not legally able to drink but who did not care to follow the laws on those occasions. I have gotten drunk before at those parties, and nobody gives a care.

I am not promoting anyone committing any illegal activities, nor am I condoning that others follow my actions during situations like that. But law enforcement officers are people too, and in a lot of cases they feel like they are above the system because they are a part of those entrusted with enforcing it. So, yes, there are many police officers out there who toke. But then they have to worry about random drug testing.....

yeah, my father too, he used to smoke until i was 9 when he got fired after failing a piss test he knew was coming, a stupid mistake on his part, but i dont resent him for it. he even dealt with some top secret type stuff for a mapping agency that is now strictly army intelligence mapping. but he used to be a security guard, and worked his way up through the printing all the way to actually drawing the contour lines on the maps. its cool stuff, my mom still works for them, but he got nixed and is now a computer tech. And to put in perspective the type of government mapping they did, the old 1950's name for the agency used to be called The Army Mapping Service, so its pretty key.

I know of a LOT of government workers in primarily labor jobs that toke. Some of them are 30 year smokers. Some of them grow too.And the funny thing is they never get drug tested.

I'm sure some do, and it probably (well obviously) doesn't stop there either i.e. the Idaho senator/bathroom stall incident, the Monika Lewinsky debacle and so forth. Without straying too far from the original question, yes I'm sure they do. And maybe that's not too bad of a thing, in general compared what other type of activities they could be involved in.

I have no problem with them smoking a little weed and getting a piece of ass (call-girls or whatever) from time to time if it helps them keep their head on straight, rather than getting into some crazy weird things. But I would hope they would try to keep themselves to a higher standard.

Not to break any rules, but I'd bet my hat that the drug of choice for those fellows is from the coca plant.

Eh I'd say that's more the lawyers than the politicians. I could definitely see politicians tokin' though.
