Ugh I've tried... but in the throes of really BAD cramps I smoked too much and got sick. And my cramps didn't go away. I hate cramps. They are the ONLY reason I take perscription meds.. one half Vicodin... once every 28 days... There's a name for the condition I have of unusually painful cramps but I can't remember it since the ER nurse who told it to me refused to give me any painkillers until I 'passed' a pregnancy test and I wanted to tear her head off and all I heard her saying was blahblahblahherehaveanaspirindearie

Yes, I smoke, and it gets rid of the pain, But weed gets rid of virtually all pain

Stinky, is your condition called endometriosis by any chance? My mom has/had that and it made her periods hell.
I smoke weed when I'm pms-ing. It helps with the cramping, stomach aches, and moodiness! I love it!
ps: the weed we grew, champage and dutch treat- is soooo amazing, it makes me really happy! very heady, slightly body high, and no crash at all- perfect high for during the day or when you don't want to burn out. I have been so happy this last week (after being pissed off all of last week), it's making me think it's cause of this weed! It's sooo good.

The key with bad cramps--and I learned this the hard way until I read a book about the subject by a doctor with the same problem--is to take a couple of doses of an anti-inflammatory medicine like Advil or Motrin (some form of ibuprofen) during the two or three days leading up to your period. It's critical to take the ibuprofen before the period itself starts, then keep up with that ibuprofen till the bad cramp days are over.
Cramps and other types of muscle pain are caused by chemicals called prostaglandins. Ibuprofen and aspirin are both prostaglandin inhibitors. But you need to take the inhibitor medications before the prostaglandins begin to do their painful deeds to head them off at the pass because the inhibition process takes some time to work.
Learning about the ibuprofen-in-advance approach has really helped ease my bad cramps. On really bad months, the early ibuprofen approach doesn't get rid of the pain completely, but when I take it right, it helps cut the pain down significantly. And in plenty of months, it does help get rid of the cramps almost completely. Those are miserable days. (That, by the way, is how labor feels--like hard, bad cramps that come in waves.)

I agree with Birdgirl on all that, but I personally don't like to take pharmaceutical pain killers... For headaches, cramps, whatever- I either battle it out au naturel, drink lots of water, or smoke weed. I just don't like pills. I guess some of you have such bad cramps that you can't help taking drugs, but I personally don't like to.

I used to have cramps, but that's all over now. Menopause isn't that bad. The hot flashes are a pain, but I can live with that. In fact, with the weather we've had (and the fact that I am frequently out in the cold -recess duty at school), sometimes they are even welcome! Menopausal women are supposed to be grumpy or snappish- I just have a toke and smile!- Granny :hippy:

Naw... lucky me... that would be very very bad. It's nothing more than unusually painful periods. Uh, period...

I get gutwrenching cramps. My mom did too, but when she was younger she was on heavy painkillers. Now being that I'm a bit too young, they won't give me any. I wish though, I'm literally balled up in pain a week per month. Weed helps though, for the most part. Atleasts distracts me

That really sucks, I never get cramps, at all, the only time I had cramps was the first time I got my period, after that, none

Stinky, I think what you're looking for is dysmennorhea. That's what I have. It actually makes me vomit.
I'm too lazy to scroll. Somebody said weed makes their mom notice her pain more? I'm the same way. Personally, I love me some vicodin or percoset.
Birdie, I've been taking evening primrose oil for awhile now. It helps regulate prostaglandins. It helps with cramping, excessive bleeding, flushing, and bitchiness lol. I can't take ibuprofen or aspirin. I become extremely edemic, and then I bleed internally, into my abdominal cavity. I have a 6 inch long scar on my stomach from an emergency laparoscopy where they had to go in and suction out old clotted blood from my abdomen. Naaaasty.

i take evening primrose oil too, but i don't take it too often (like not around my period like you are supposed to) so I don't know how well it works for period troubles- i should probably start taking it more! anyways, the oil is also a source of omega 3 or 6...can't remember which and the capsuls usually have vitamin E in them too- all those things are great for us, not to mention easing cramps and shit.
