today in english, we had a class discussion about an article about school drug testing. Basically the teacher asked us if we think schools should do random drug tests. Now, in a lot of my classes like 90% of the class is stoners and friends of mine that would argue against school drug testing just like me. But my english class is full of teachers pets and girls who are against weed, but don't know jack shit about it.

Every time the teacher would call on someone, i felt like they said the same exact thing "of course all schools should do random drug tests, drugs are bad and students who do them should be punished."

So of course, my hand goes up immediatly and i start listing off every single thing i know about weed and why its not bad, and i even targetted one girl who i really dislike and said "(name), maybe you should learn a thing or two about weed before you make deicions about it, because i'm pretty sure you know nothing"

I wasn't mad yet.

The teacher, who is supposed to not take sides, and let the students discuss, desides to step in, and he takes the rest of the classes side and starts saying all this bullshit about how bad weed is and kids shouldnt do it. I then asked him if he drinks alcohol. When he replied with a yes, I said he has probably done more harm to his body from alcohol than i ever will with weed. I was hoping he would respond with an intelligent comment so taht we could discuss this with facts and marturity.

I guess i either embarrased him or he just flat out knew that i was right, because instead of carrying on a discussion with me like that day's class was supposed to be (might I add he made the decision of joining the conversation), he just desides to kick me out of class and change the topic.

so now i'm sitting here at home just thinking about what happened, very dissapointed and frustrated.

make it legal

Man, I hate how when you try to explain things to anti-weed people, they never listen and just shut you out. When I argue with my straight edge friends about it they always do that. The thing is they all think alcohol is fine.

I would of said I am in favor of testing... I would not want to be the first one tested and advocating pot in school I believe would of drawn a big target on my back...

Yeh what skink said. i would stay on the down low and just let their little selves gloat upon themselves.

...point being. i wouldn't want to get drug-tested. and expelled from school.

Drugs are a part of life. Drugs are a big part of life when you're in HS probably more than ever. Drug testing HS students is more immoral and unethical then taking drugs that were put here on earth for a reason.

uh, lol my school isn't thinking about doing drug testing, we were just having a discussion in class about if its a good idea for schools in general.

I don't even think my school is allowed to do random drug tests even if they did want to, not sure though.

Stubborn people will never change sides. It doesnt matter if you had proof on video they would still make up a lame excuse or result to a temper tampturm to get you mind off the subject at hand. But he shouldnt have kicked you out of class. I would complain and see how much trouble he could get into for doing that with a student who has a different opinion than him.

well here's how drug tests work with schools that do it

by punishment, i don't mean expulsion or suspension or even detention, they can't do that, you're right. But what they can do and do do, is ban you from extra curricular activites, sports, and anything that they consider a privelage. They also can make you go to a drug class, which in my eyes is punishment enough.

but yes its true there is no law against failing a drug test.
