OZZFEST 2007...FOR FREE

GROUNDBREAKING ANNOUNCEMENT
PULLS PLUG ON TICKET PRICES

"This will change everybody??s impression of the way touring in the summer in America should be."--Sharon Osbourne

Imagine a day of wall-to-wall hard rock.

Imagine the world's greatest headliner sharing a bill with cutting edge new artists.

Imagine if this brass-knuckled beast was hellbent on coming to your town.

Imagine this earth-pounding event...FOR FREE.

2007 will forever mark the year OZZFEST spiked the concert industry's punch and gave every head-banging American kid a reason to strap on an air guitar with the historic announcement that tickets to the summer??s premiere touring concert festival won't cost fans a dime.

Testing one, two, three...

That's right, OZZY and SHARON OSBOURNE and tour producer LIVE NATION broke the news today at the Concert Industry Consortium in Los Angeles that their 12th annual hard rock spectacular--a 25-date extravaganza launching July 7 in Los Angeles--is pulling the plug on ticket prices and giving the power back to the fans calling this summer??s OZZFEST "FreeFest." The other OZZFEST cities as of now are San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, Kansas City, St Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Hartford, Charlotte, Atlanta, West Palm Beach, Nashville. Note: a final confirmed list of cities and dates is forthcoming.

"For the last few years," says SHARON, "ticket prices have steadily climbed as artists demand more and more money for summer tours. We certainly want everybody to make money, however we also want the kids to be able to afford to come out and have an incredible experience. If we continued with the traditional touring festival model, we would have no choice but to raise ticket prices again this year."

Cited as ??one of rock??s biggest juggernauts? in the cover feature of Sunday's New York Times' ??Arts and Leisure? section (6/25/06), OZZFEST and Live Nation will turn to sponsors to provide added support for the festival's new incarnation. This summer??s OZZFEST will provide select sponsors with a unique opportunity to engage fans one-on-one utilizing one of music??s best known brands.

"We're reaching the same point we did years ago when kids no longer wanted to pay for overpriced CDs," compares Sharon. "As a result, they found alternative ways of getting music. That??s what??s happening with summer touring in this country, it??s out-pricing itself. We started this and we want to keep it and we want to make it bigger and bigger each year by getting bigger sponsors to be involved with the festival and underwriting the festival. That??s what it??s about."

??For the past 11 years, music fans have made OZZFEST the most successful and enduring rock music festival in the United States,? said Jason Garner, Live Nation President of North American Concerts. ??What better way to say ??Thank You?? to the music fans who have made this possible than inviting them to attend OZZFEST for free.?

To gain entry into the event, fans will go to [url=http://www.ozzfest.com]www.ozzfest.com (http://ozzfest.com.com/) or Live Nation | Find Concert Tickets, Tour Dates, Seating Charts & Venue Schedules with the World's Largest Concert Search Engine (http://www.livenation.com) to find links that will direct them to special sponsor sites where tickets can be secured. More details regarding the process are forthcoming.

As OZZFEST??s founder and namesake, OZZY will make his triumphant return to the headlining position on this year's mainstage after surprising fans last year by performing on the down-and-dirty second stage at a handful of dates. Audiences can expect the Prince of Darkness to unveil new songs from his forthcoming studio album, OZZY??s first disc of new material since 2001. While the rest of the in-progress bill is under wraps, Sharon points out, "we have bands committed, but we??re hoping that after today's announcement we??ll have a whole influx of artists who want to be a part of something this ground breaking. We know there aren't any major headlining acts that would tour all summer for nothing, but we're confident we can turn some of the genre's biggest bands on to what we're doing and have them come out to play a date or two. If they're in town and want the rush of performing in front of 20,000 frenzied kids, they're more than welcome to join us. They can sell their t-shirts, CDs and whatever else they've got. They're also welcome to book their own shows in local venues on the day of OZZFEST. I??m not stopping them. People have to be creative and think of alternatives."

Since 1996, OZZFEST has been a virtual breeding ground for rising bands. The festival has been instrumental in igniting the careers of platinum-selling artists like System of a Down, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Incubus, Slipknot, Queens of the Stoneage and Godsmack. Along with supporting bands on the rise including Avenged Sevenfold, Mudvayne, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and Lacuna Coil, among others.

??OZZFEST was created to keep this genre of music alive by showcasing new talent," states Sharon. "You better believe we??re going to keep perpetuating that by hand-picking compelling new bands that are hungry for OZZFEST's career-making exposure."

Wow! Don't see something like that everyday. Reminds me of Pearl Jam and their battle against ticketmaster.

I expect 2007 to be the most violent year in music history now...
no offense but you all black wearin headbangin kids is crazy, and I'm sure every single one will come out for that. I don't know about you, but I don't think this will turn out anything like woodstock... maybe that really violent one they tried a few years back, but I think this tour will be even worse than that...

I heard that on the radio a little earlier tonight. I will prob try and get tickets for the Dalas dates.

I have yet to go to Ozzfest, this seems like a good year to spend the money on a trip when the show is free.

Just because a bunch of people who like that kind of music are all in one place it will result in violence?

Congratulations, you are in the running for the most ignorant comment of the year award.

I'm certain there will be some violence. There's pretty much no denying it.

Your thinking of the altamont...anyway...how would it be violent? This will be an awesome tour. If you ask me, rap music is more violent than rock will ever be...

now that I think of it, you usually never hear of people being shot in rock concerts, but you always hear about it from rap concerts. So I guess rap concerts are a hell of a lot more violent than rock concerts but still I'm sure there will be a shitload of violence on this tour. I'm still gonna go but I'm gonna be on my guard around all those crazy people...

I think it's pretty much an equal risk. When you put that many people in one place and throw in some drugs and booze, a few problems are bound to pop up.

I don't think it is really anything to worry about though. I will think of you if a riot does break out though. :)

I doubt anything will happen, unless the teenagers outnumber the people in their 20s 10-1.

Dammit, they're not doing any tour dates in DC.........

I went to one concert like that. It was like some secret hippie festival in a field in Southwest Virginia. Everyone was cool, just smoking weed, tripping, dancing around, my brother got on stage, and started jamming with 4 random people. For those 3 days, it was all peace and love. It was awesome.

That's illegal to do the US. The "No Purchase Necessary" clause.

all i know is what i read.....this may be true, the no purchase nec clause, but there is also truth in the fact that 1...there is a loophole for everything, and that 2..nothing is for free....and finally 3...if it looks to good to be true, it is....

i was just relaying what an article said...

lmao. That's true. I'm sure they'll create a cornered market somehow.

It'll just be beautiful to go to the Ozzfest for free and not pay one single dime. But like any concert, that's almost impossible to do.

OZZ FUCKING FEST!

Now all we need is less bands like Norma Jean and Atreyu and more bands like Slayer and Cannibal Corpse!

Also, if you are afraid of violence, just stay away from the pits cuz thats where all the drunkies are. Alot of people will let you smoke with them for free, or just be nice in general. Metalheads are some of the most compassionate people I know sometimes, especially at shows.

Nochowderforyou
02-08-2007, 08:38 PM
The pit is the place to be, but don't bother trying to take a certain person out. Moshing and banging off each other is cool, but once a fist flies and a fight breaks out, be prepared for a beating. :p I saw it happen at Pantera, and the guy didn't get up very fast. Actually, me and my buddy helped him out of the chaos and to the washroom.

I agree, metalheads love one another. It's the music that takes over and accidents happen. It's not very often you see people swinging fists around, hitting people on purpose. Those people usually don't make it through 1/4 of the show before someone loses it on them. Metal lovers among metal lovers get along just fine.

Some of the most down to earth people I've met have been covered in tattooes, drink brew, smoke weed, and bang out to heavy music.

Hell yeeeeah!!

oooooh good!!

now i get to see the shittiest bands in metal for free!\

what a joy!!

and, to the person remarking about the ten dollars sodas and shit, it is like that even if you slap down the fiftry bucks, so seriously if you like crap metal this really is a hell of a deal. it would definitely be worth a trip for ozzy alone but if anyone has seen him in the last five years they know he cant perform well any more

Ozzfest is like Woodstock, just more violent and less baby making. Even if you hate metal, its truly an experience you'll remember.

Nochowderforyou
02-08-2007, 09:53 PM
And Ozzfest has good metal, and bad metal. It all depends on what you like.

There is nu-metal, death metal, old school metal, all kinds of different stuff.

I know that the old school metalheads hate this new trend of heavy music. They are stuck in Judas Preist and Maidan era, so if anything new comes, it must suck.

Like me, I can't stand death metal or old school metal. Ozzy is porbably the last act I would want to go and see.

Anyone have a band list to who's playing? I'm curious to see who's all on this year. I'm hoping Slayer will be there. I'd go just to see them.

TheFatKid

The list usually comes out mid-spring to early summer. I'm hoping Slayer, Killswitch, Children of Bodom, and Cannibal Corpse go.

i was at a concert called the Weenie Roast in orange county held by a LA radio station called KROQ. Ozzy was supposed to play a set there (this was in 2000) before the ozzy craze. the whole crowd was filled with little kids who wanted to hear limp bizkit and korn and they were practically booing ozzy and then ozzy announced that bill, geezer, and toni iomi were backstage and this was the first time they were playing together (original line-up) since they broke up the band long ago. i was so excited for this because black sabbath was one of my favorite bands of all time and this was the original black sabbath. unfortunately they were only able to play two songs (iomi blew his amp) but it was fucking sweet and i would never trade that short black sabbath performance for any ozzy performance ever.
