First, I am a newbie to marijuana...trying it out to see if it will ease pain of arthritis, and maybe insomnia. I cannot smoke, so I baked up a bunch of oatmeal cookies with happy butter. (1/4 cup of ground weed with a cup of butter). I ate one cookie at 2:30PM yesterday, and didn't feel much until 2 hours later! Then I was 'out of it' until 7:30....mildly giddy, very relaxed, and didn't want to do anything but sit around. My hubby kept talking to me (not knowing what I'd eaten) and his speech sounded so slurred. I had never before noticed how all the words seemed to run together. Sometimes, I actually understood what he was saying, but mostly not. It was hilarious, really.

It's a very strange high. Mellow mellow, free of every arthritic pain in my body, but not really high or was I? . I did feel out of control of my thoughts though, which I found kind of scary.

Was the cookie too strong or too weak?....just felt really strange.

It sounds like you were high. The feeling you get from eatting it is different from smoking. As for making it stronger or weaker it all deppends on if you want what you were feeling to be stronger or weaker. I'm glad it helped with your pain!

Well it sounds like you got high, but after that it's all personal preference as to how high you want to be.

You were high for sure. Congrats! Im glad it helped with your pain. You can try adding a little more next time to see if you like it. Its all about personal preferance. If you dont want to get the high feeling, but want to stay pain free, you might keep the amount the same (or even lower it a little).

Keep it up, and you will find that sweet spot.

If you dont like the smoke but dont want to wait a few hours to feel anything you could get a vaporizer. They tend to be a little pricey though

did u heat the butter and weed sepratly first? to make green butter?

without pre-heating n pre-mixing the butter n weed would have a VERY delayed and weak effect

I'm pretty sure you were high, just not sure what to expect. Whats more important is that you said you were pain free, which is awesome, congrats on finding a natural cure to a natural pain and welcome to the world of cannabis.

I noticed that you stated that day was the first time you noticed your hubby's speech patterns. If anything (outside of the pain relief) would indicate that you made your mixture correct it would be this. heighten auditory senses is a common (and often highly appreciated) side effect ingesting marijuana. The flow of thought you described as 'out of control' happens often also, your mind was just wondering, and wandering a bit, this can lead to some creative ideas.

You did it right. Now spread the love to any friends you may have suffering from pain!

Have a good day :)

Yes I cooked the butter first, found a recipe on the web somewhere. Melted it in boiled water, then strained out the water.

I also noticed a strange time-distortion: I would think something like: I want a glass of milk, then moments later, wonder if I had a glass of milk or was just thinking about getting one. Is this typical? Also, hubby would walk in the room, say something, and walk out again....and I wasn't sure if he had just walked in or just walked out. I am guessing this is a sign of being high.

I don't smoke because I had pneumonia two years ago, and cough quite a bit at any irritation. So I have tried to smoke it, bought a little glass pipe, but just cough so much. Maybe I'm just afraid, but may try it again.

another reason I'm wanting to do this stuff is that I've been diagnosed 'borderline glaucoma' and I have read in numerous places that mj can stop it from getting worse.

Definately sounds like you were stoned.

Well if thats the case, get some kind of water pipe. Not only will it be less harsh on the throat, but it will be nicer to your lungs as well. A vape will work wonders too, but the nice ones can be expensive.

I'm sorry to hear that. That must suck some major balls.

Have you considered a vaporizor? That heats up the cannabis tpo a certain temp. to the point where it doesn't burn, but instead, the THC itself just gets vaped. I have used one before, and I can tell you, it feels like you're just breathing in air, and it does the job. Vapes work amazingly well (with a good model) and produce no smoke, and very little smell. Something worth investing into if you cannot smoke.

It sounds like you cooked the cannabis in the butter. For next time, simmer the butter and cannabis together, at a low temp. (Mark 3 or 4 on the stove). Let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes. The butter should be green after.

Keep in mind that cannabis has a vaporizing temp. of 220degC, so if you exceed that temp. while cooking, the cannabis effects will be greatly lowered and may become 100% useless.

Hi there, I'm a 59 year old female mmj user. The time distortion is normal and you'll just have to figure out a dosage by trial and error, like the rest of us did. I strongly recommend that you get a vaporizer. They are way easier on the lungs than a pipe. I toked for 40 years and my lungs were a mess! Two weeks after getting a Vapor Brother's, my lungs were clear! I got mine at discountworldonline.com. Good price and good service. As a medical user, you may want to visit treatingyourself.com- a medical marijuana site. Lots of good people there and since we are mostly mmj users, the tone is a bit more mature and serious than Cannabis.com (You guys are great, too, but in a different way.) - Granny:stoned:

ahhh, granny....a kindred soul. I too am 59. Scary age to be, feeling younger...I bought a small vaporizer, but can't quite figure out how to use it. I tried this: Draw in, wait until the bowl fills with smoke, draw again and COUGH COUGH CUoooooOGH as the smoke fills lungs.

try turning the vaporizer heat down, sounds like you got one of the cheaper ones, but hopefully it'll do the trick

Its normal for it to take up to two hours if you eat marijuana.
