Alright, guys-I need some advice. I have been smoking for about 4-5 years now-but only every once in a blue moon. For about the past year, I have been smoking almost every night-just a bowl or so. I have noticed lately that I have become extremely lazy. When I say this, I don't mean that I am laying around all day, but I just drag a lot more than I use to. I have a hard time getting my ass out of bed to make it to my 10:00AM class (going to bed around 2 or so). I am more sleepy during the day...I have been procrastinating a lot....I don't get as much homework done as I use to, etc, etc...I have to do something about this because this is my last semester in college. Basically, the 'side-effects' that are always mentioned when people are saying how bad marijuana is, lol. I know that it is typical side-effects from smoking, but I enjoy smoking every night-it actually helps me be more creative. Any advice?

Hey, I sorta had this problem and theres no easy answer. You just gotta find the motivation... think of what would happen if you didn't didn't do whatever is is you have to get up to do. I recommend only smoking at night and try to exercise a few times a week... it gives you a lot more energy (seems counterintuitive, but it does). I've managed to keep it up as college gets progressively harder as well (neuroscience etc.). Good luck

Umm, if you're just smoking at night, then I wouldn't blame it for you being lazy when you're not high. My advice would be to stop pouting about being lazy and get some shit done. You gotta graduate! If failing to graduate college is not enough motivation to get your stuff done, then I don't know what to tell you.

If you're really convinced that weed is the source of your problems, then obviously the solution is to stop smoking for a while (or maybe just smoke on the weekends) and see how much that helps you. But I suspect your problem is probably that you just aren't motivating yourself enough. Get some sleep, find a regular time to do your homework in advance, and just keep it up for a few months. Don't get your mind off that diploma.

How's your grades? Unless your grades are hurting. I wouldn't change a thing. If they are hurting, Cut back, focus on weekend from blazing up. I tried going to school... I just couldn't do. I wasnt into it..nothing they have makes me wanna do it...So I pretty much just smoke weed now.

Thanks everyone-good advice! Exercising is a good idea-I just haven't been out around the streets jogging because a girl was murdered here this summer ('Bikini Strangler' or something-the dude was on the FBI's Most Wanted, lol). It sucks-everyone is 'on the edge'. I do go to the gym about 1-2 times a week-I am just too lazy to drive there sometimes, lol.

My grades are okay-B's or so. Usually I just have exams, but this semester I have some lovely professors who have piled on the papers, research projects, etc. It takes more motivation than just studying..lol.

You guys have given me good advice-thanks. I need to set a certain time aside each day to study. There is no way that I am going to quit smoking-it helps my bi-polar! Thanks again!

Yeah, don't QUIT smoking, just cut down a little. Maybe try every other day and work down from that...

It's difficult to get out of bed if you've smoked the night before, I know. So maybe smoke in between lunch and dinner, and that should be a bit better.

What's your major?

That and Blueberry & Bubble Gum.

What is the best strain for an 'upbeat' high where you can think and still chill?

ak47,haze,jack herror are some... do some research on sativa dominant strains... Blueberry is Indica dominant meaning it is a cross but will give you a more lazy feeling... I have a pretty good upbeat from both but,,,we are all different so search and explore... for now you must do what you need for your grades and if that means a break so be it... experiment and cut back I think would be a good plan...

I have never failed to get out of bed at 6 am and get ready to go do my morning lifting. I generally lift for close to an hour and do cardio for about 30 minutes, 4 days a week. I do this all before my 9 o clock class. I smoke mostly on weekends, but sometimes I smoke after work around 12am.

Have you tried being your best friend? Motivate yourself by talking outloud to yourself. eks: Now it's time to get up. Get up now.NOW. (anoying friend...)

Anyway, you know what I mean.

Just take a break for a while. Last semester is a beeotch trying to find motivation, let alone smoing the herb at the same time. You only get to take these classes now, weed will always be around. Always prefer knowledge over anything else and you will be set for life.

This works....I can get out two or three more reps by telling myself "im not good enough" and "im not even trying" and it works..

Take a break from weed, maybe restrict yourself to weekends.

See how it goes.

It could be you're just burning out on school, and not because of weed, but there's only one way to find out and that's to quit for awhile.

1. cut down a bit, try lowering your tolerance enough so that you can get a nice chilled out high from a one-hitter pipe. This should reduce the side effects you describe.

2. I second the exercise advice, but don't wait untill u have excess energy to burn to exercise. Next time you oversleep and wakeup a bit clouded with no motivation go to the gym its much more refreshing than that extra 2 hours in bed ever will be!

and finally...

3. Use draw as a reward, DO THIS NOW... make a to-do list of everything u gotta do, from your work, to shopping to getting a haircut to getting back together with that old friend. now put a line under it and don't blaze again till you've done every thing on that list!

Trust me it'll be worth it because next time you toke you'll truely feel you've taken hold of your life again.

Hope that helps!

I'm bipolar and a psych major! In all honestly, you problem could be a simple as not getting enough sleep. Try going to bed earlier and getting 8 hours a night. It doesnt make the lack of motivation go away completely but it makes it a lot better to deal with. going to the gym is also a very good idea. not only will it help with the lazy feeling its great for dealing with all the stress from school.

The best advice i can give to you is: stop it. Being lazy is something that is (for the most part) mental. You can do it if you want to do it. Going to bed at 2am? What are you doing otherwise? Considering you are in your last term it just seems like you have been struck down by the drag that ever other college student goes through at the end of his school life. Find a new hobby or interest that will help aid in sparking you out of bed. You only have a few more months left in school, make sure you take the time out to enjoy it.

haha lazysmoking420...well u can actually skip all that and jus travel the world killing human beings for fat sums of money :D ....i would say cut back to weekends and go to bed earlier. im guessing thats why you are tired during the day and adds to why you are burnt and being lazy. who knows thats just my 2 cents.

I've only started smoking lately. Last semester I did not start smoking until a month before it was over. In that semester, I had a GPA of 2.40. I also failed a college class and dropped another. The bad thing is I'm pretty 'smart', I just had no motivation for giving any effort in raising my grades. However, ever since I started smoking daily (didn't start smoking daily until about 2 weeks before January) I currently have a 4.0 across the board. I think I try harder to produce good work so I do not fall under the typical "dumb stoner" stereotype. It's almost like reverse logic. I'm trying harder to prove it's not the plant.

Still, this probably differs from person to person. Given the right option, any recreational activity can make anyone unmotivated or lazy.
