Building Smoking Room

Lately my job has been treating me good, and paying my right. This has allowed us to finally move out and get away from roommates. We are getting a 2 bedroom 2 bath townhouse in the same area as our current house (Right on the beautiful socal beach!). Since we no longer have roommates, we have an extra room that we are turning into our own smoking room.

First off, I need some suggestions for practical decor and stuff to put in there. This has to be doable (we only have a couple grand to dump into it), so that means no 68" plasmas coming out of the floor or anything like that. We are obviously getting a nice comfy couch. The nice HDTV and computer are also going in there.

Second, I am looking for a place to get some blacklights from online. I am thinking about getting a few 24" flourcent tubes, but have no idea where to look. Any ideas?

I know the point of your thread was to find ways to build a dope smoking room, but if I had an empty room and two grand to invest in pot-related activities, better believe I'd make a pro style grow room and fuckin retire!

Well, we are only leasing the house so we cant set up any hard-core grow ops.. Once we have saved up enough to buy our own place, we can talk about that ;-)

MAN if you got an attic you could take the door out of that spare room and cover it up! then put a hole in ur roof with a big fireman pole going down into the room with loads of plants everywere and beanbags lol and a fridge or two!!!

Ive always had a little list if I had an extra room of what smokin accessories i'd put in it.

Some sort of sweet ash tray, my friend had a Jamacain sitting indian style and some of him would glow in the dark, like his teeth/hat/other cool styles.

I'd prolly invest in a good smoke-eater/hepa air filter/carbon air scrubber just to keep the room from smelling foul... But I smoke cannabis, cigars (not blunts... Macanudo Hampton Court.... yum!), and cigarettes. Just forget that "ionic breeze" BS they sell on TV... It's a hunk of garbage! :bonghit:

well i would give you my vision of a smoke out room.

first i would have a 42 inch Hitachi plasma with and xbox 360 and Nintendo wii with 7.1 surround sound.Then i would have 4 beanbag chairs in the "circle" with a matching bowl for each bean bag.The green been bag and bowl would be mine.Then in the middle a 4 hose hooka.
Now i would have really plush carpet no shoes allowed.With strobe lights and black lights.The fridge would have jamacian red and white rum,absolute vodka,captain Morgans,yagemister,and black label whiskey.With a case each of heiniken and red stripe. and a couple 6 packs of shlitz bull ice.
the last thing i would have is a little grow room in the closet and a black leather couch facing the tv with a big 3 foot bong.

That is my dream smoke out room

We already have several bongs, a couple hookahs, a dozen pipes and bubblers, and other misc stuff. I want to get a nice glass case/hutch to display everything.

For me, a good, comfy place to sit is a must... me and my friend are ultimately gonna get an apartment, and we're going to try and find this nice two-person couch they have at the local coffee shop... seriously, it's the most comfortable thing ever. We get high and just get coffee and sit there, it's heavenly.

I'd go for personal decorations, posters, and definitely a black light.

Surround sound is a must. Get a decent sized TV that you can hook up to your computer. My roomate just got a 50" Toshiba (?) DLP from Best Buy and a 3 year warranty for like $1,500 I think. But definitely get surround sound for the tunes.

Get some cool poster's and comfortable chairs or get a couch that stretches around the room put a cofee table in the middle and have a grinder wraps,papers lighter ashtray all the tools....maybe seal the room so no smoke escapes and hotbox the room.

I almost forgot! NO OVERHEAD LIGHTING! Overhead lighting sucks, so try to pick up a few sweet lamps from Ikea or something or put a large tapestry on the ceiling over the main light. Also invest in a dimmer switch. There are ones you can put in the wall, but since you're renting, you might just want to stick with the ones that you can plug the lamp straight into. They sell them at Wal Mart for about $9. VERY useful. Here are some pics of my room, which I am quite proud of. I tried to turn all the lamps and everything on and shut the blinds so you can see how its lit, but I don't think it worked very well.

I got this small halogen lamp at Ikea for around $10 and put the dimmer switch on it. Also don't forget the minifridge full of your favorite beverages and a Wii and PS2 for when you feel like doing more than chilling and listening to music. The TV is also on a swinging arm thing so I can turn to watch it in bed, $25 at Ikea:

I have another small light for my bed area, also from Ikea, but I found it in the garage of the house I am renting so I dunno how much it is. I'm sure its like $10-15. Also, 600 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, a blanket that feels like a soft teddy bear, and a nice thick comforter from Target for when I'm ready to pass out.:

This is my couch/desk area. My desk is a huge mess. I got the couch for like $100 from this sale at this furniture place my friend worked at. 100% leather and it reclines. The couch faces the TV with the PS2 and Wii.

My room is really nice for chilling with 4-5 people. I love it. Hope this gave you a few ideas for your room. Peace.

HDTV (the hdtv is not as important as having movies or something interesting to watch)
blacklight fixture. (Long, celling mountable, one good blacklight is more 'pro' then a couple standard ones)
posters.(reflecting the two of your personal interests, go for comfort, not sterotypical)
Carpet (get the nice, but inexpensive roll out kind, people are going to be smoking in your room, so its bound to have a few drinks spilled on it)
Bud (its marijuana for smoking)

You can find a lot of stuff using froogle(dot)com it's something that google offers to help you find the best price of stuff online. But i'm willing to bet your local mart-wal has all of this stuff (Cept the bud) and a few other things you will want to pick up that you didn't think of. Congrats on you and your [partner] moving out of the cluthes of room mates. I'm headed for that road in a few months myself. Good luck to you, and let us know how your room turns out!

hahaha get a strobe light, they are real cheap, and funny as fuck when ur stoned, just turn out the lights, put on a tune called 'stakker humanoid' and have a little rave,

Should the theme of the room match the rest of the house, or should it be completely different? My girlfriend has a beach thing going on, and I dont want the room to look bad in contrast to the rest of the house during the day. Should I just do subtle things that would look good at night, under blacklights, or should I go all out?

a lot of really wicked cool stuff you can get at your local spencers..black lights, posters and all that glo in the black lights, all kinds of cool stuff...even the marijuana card game...have fun

I have a smokey room in my arpartment its my living room lol its got 3 couches a computer tv bongs a table ps2 sound system and a fridge in the kitchen..

get a few proffessional strobe lights, some good black lights, a minifridge
go down to your local salvation army to find a minifridge....or look through some garage sales
also they might have a glass display case at the salvation army
get some neon colored wall paper and neon colored...well..everything
everything must be neon, it will look badass under a blacklight
get a steroe and rig it with surround sound, get some rave music...you know, that stuff with nothing but trippy ass beats...
get a coffee table and paint it neon colors
the rest...well..is up to you
EDIT: if you having trouble finding a good black light and strobe light, go down to a sign makers shop and ask them about it

also get some couches and put neon colored blankets over them

something i always have liked are those twinkling christmas tree lights. i have them spiderwebbed over my cieling. also you got to get one of those messaging recliners the kind that does the deep kneding kind.

I call my smoke room "the green room". Has a home theater system in it (including the huge leather seats with motorized recliners). Ceiling mounted projector as the TV (no HDTV but it's nice). Has a carbon scrubber for after we finish using it. Also has a safe to keep bud and some cash in. Full fridge (we hungry ass people when we smoke) and a microwave. And an Xbox 360 and a PS3. It's nice to have a smoke room at all because even if you don't go in there to smoke it's a nice place to relax.

my friends dad let us have a smoking room in my buddies old house back in the day.

we had a table (essential), TV/xbox/ps2, couches, stereo, blacklights and we just started graffitiing the walls one day. looked sweetass. it was pretty basic, but it definately got the job done.

just get high and go around and find some shit....the freeer the better
