Okay dears, but if you want a little boy forum where you can giggle about this period stuff, and even say booby, and play with frogs, and fart a lot, you need to get your own forum. This here one is for the wise and witty women of the site.:hippy:
If you post you must wear ladies panties while doing so, that is one of the bylaws. Sky, do you have a copy of the bylaws for these crotch-grabbing himbos to read?

Women's Issues Bylaws:
1.) one must wear panties while posting (thongs and G's are acceptable, as are Skink's manties) exceptions are nudes and nighties (and yes; t'shirts count)
2.) males must always use acceptable terms when addressing a lady (i.e. my lady, your majesty, my queen, your highness, etc.)
3.) to have an opinion on a hygeine product, one must have USED THE PRODUCT or know the details from someone who has.

Tampons all the way. I feel so dirty when wearing a pad, and it can get very very messy. A tampon is like a absorbing plug, with pads you can feel it bleeding and I cant take that, I also get paranoid you can see the pad through my pants, I dont want to go around feeling like I look like Im smuggling a polish sausage in my pants.

Wow, this topic seems to be more controversial than I realized, judging from a few of the threads here at the end that got deleted. Oh well, I vote for tampons. Have used them since I was 14. Playtex Gentle Glide brand. Cannot stand pads, day or night. That's the only bad thing after you have a baby, even after a Cesarean--they make you use pads in the weeks afterward.

I voted Pads, but I use cloth pads. I can't stand getting chemical burns every month because of all the shit that's in commercial pads (and tampons for that matter) Ew.
BTW, Diva cups (you can also get a Keeper....and Instead Cups are sold in stores) are generally messy, especially the instead since they don't have a "stem" but you do get used to them fairly quickly, and some women can take them out, dump them, rinse it and put it back in with out spilling a drop of blood. And after a while your periods are "shorter" because the blood isn't pooling in the vagina. the cup is directly on the cervix, so it doesn't have far to go.
ANd for a light to moderate flow, you might only have to dump the cup once or twice a day.

I primarily use tampons but I think I'm gonna go out and try the DivaCup! You all make it sound gross, but check out the Q&A on their website, it doesn't sound bad at all. There's a year long guarentee, so if you buy it and find out that it's messy or something you can always return it.
The reason I wanna try it cause it's cheaper than buying pads/tampons every month, it's environmentally friendly, you can wear it wayyyy longer than a tampon, and you don't need to worry about TSS. I think that alone is a good enuff reason for all women to buy one!

I HIGHLY SUGGEST THE KEEPER.
The Keeper (latex)
The Moon Cup (silicone)
THE KEEPERĀ® THE MOON CUPĀ® Manufacturer, Home Office, Distribution Headquarters (http://www.keeper.com)
They never, ever leak; they are reusable. You will never spend money on tampons again. They are friendly to the environment. But you do have to touch your blood. Not for the faint of heart. But I am telling you they are so good and I will never, ever go back to the old way. I have used mine for three years now.
TheSmokingMonkey
02-21-2007, 04:37 PM
I believe the directions recommend emptying the Keeper every eight hours, minimum, to avoid build-up of bacteria. I find that on a heavy day I empty it every 4-6 hours but on a light day every 12 hours is more than sufficient.
TheSmokingMonkey

And if you simply can't do the dumping out your own blood thing without fainting, I recommend organic cotton tampons. Much healthier than the "other" kind.

Tampons and Pads and periods dont gross me out its the idea of collecting the blood in a cup, what are you gonna do with that blood? why a cup?

Now I really think you should have had two more categories- one for alternate methods, like the cup, and also one for us older gals- "been there, done with that!" I had to use pads because that little IUD gave me rather heavy periods. Tampons just didn't work except for the first and last days. Menopause isn't that bad- skin's drier (where's my moisturizer?) and the hot flashes are inconvenient, but some black cohosh seems to lessen them. Otherwise, it's business as usual for me!

hm.. this thread still makes me think about my former landlady's collie Teddy who was smart enough to work doorknobs and really enjoyed going into the bathroom and rooting in the trash for used tampons. He would then proceed to shred them in the middle of the living room floor. We had to start actually LOCKING the door. Eeew.

Well i've heard worse, saw this video on the internet like break.com or something a guy who used to be one of those soccer hooligans like took his gf and threw her up onto the bar and bit her tampon and pulled it out of her and like started swinging it back and forth making it hit his face so his face was all bloody. And LIP, think about this: if you were a woman would you want "one of them things" or would you rather have a sponge that just kinda soaks it up but then keeps it sitting there against your exposed skin for hours?

No man would ever be caught dead saying "girls are yucky."
Thank God you are banned..... BOY.
As far as the topic goes... about 90% of the females Ive talked to about the subject from the ages of teenage years through mid 20s use Playtex Gentle Glide. Usually unscented to avoid irritation. The biggest reason was that until Tamax came out with the Pearls, all they had were cardboard applicators... and while I am a man that shit just doesnt sound comfortable. Even after the Pearls came out, most people stuck with Playtex because when it began absorbing, it would swell equally in all directions... Tampax tampons swell laterally only, and they swell pretty big and it can be painful taking that out so Ive heard, and I can imagine it would be. My ex would get the super absorbent for the first day or so(the green ones I think?), then I believe the pink normal ones, then for the last few days when she was light she used the yellow light ones. That seems to be the common trend nowadays. Oh and she always used the thin pantiliners... and at night she used pads. She was scared to death of TSS and I was glad she played it safe cause thats some scary shit. I know girls that have kept their tampons in for days and up to a week cause they were that broke and in dire straits... I dont even know how theyre still alive but thank God they are.
Oh and... I put on a man-thong just to post here, my Queens :D ;)
